    The best presentation I have seen yet. Just got out of the emergency hospital after a near death experience . Feel great after 10 days of blood thinner.

    I had a DVT once and was terrified of this. I have never understood it - until now. Thanks a million!

    So when the blood clot dislodges... this could be why one may feel moving pain in their veins - arms, hands, fingers, legs, toes, and even a pinching sensation in chest veins. Good to understand what’s happening to better explain to Doctor. Thanks for this insightful presentation.

    In May 2021 I had extensive embolisms in both lungs. Almost died. Now in October 2021 I seem to have recovered. I am still on Pradaxa.

    my father died of one in august. he had all the symptoms. Shortness of breath, Severe chest pain, Severe anxiety, Tachypnea. Dizziness and purple skin from hypoxia, Tachycardia, Sweating, Coughing and coughing up blood, and it took MINUTES for it to go from symptoms to death it was a very large embolism that blocked both lungs. His symptoms came on out of no where. called 911 but he went into shock and went into cardiac arrest minutes before the ambulance came. they gave him 9 shots of thrombolytics but the clot was too large and couldnt restart the heart. only if it were a smaller more survivable clot

    DVT can literally happen overnight. I am not a poster child for great health but a 55, 210 and semi active not horrible. I am treated for hb pressure and type 2 diabetes. Woke up and when I swung my left leg around it felt like concrete. It looked like a steamed plump hodog warm to the touch. U Sound confirmed a large clot and within hours was in OR. Going in behind my knee with what is basically a vac pump they pulled out THREE and 1/2 feet for clot! Some old, some looked recent. 2 large pieces had entered my heart and then into each lung.
    Three chances to die that night as I slept. Will be on blood thinners forever and indications of clotting are starting to show. If you suspect DVT don't put it off.

    The only thing not mentioned was the cause of my PE - a tumour restricting blood flow - here an ovarian tumour. It caused DVT, pulmonary embolism and during breakup, a clot in my eye bc Im one of the folx with that hole in the heart that let it get through from one side to the other. Thankfully effects of that were short lived. However, the DVT symptoms were what got me to my doctor- and so in some ways it saved my life! Because they caught the cancer at Stage 1 - which for ovarian cancer is rare due to the non specific/ vague or common symptoms. Looking back, I had been to the doc with symptoms that were put down to anxiety (shortness of breath, tachycardia) and plantar fascitis (pain in my feet) and IBS (tummy problems) - it was only when I couldnt walk much at all that anyone connected the dots - so the clot side of it could have been caught earlier.

    I don’t know if I got it but can someone rate the pain of it?

  • @charlessmith263
    @charlessmith263 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So it is a clot that hits the deep vein, and just like cholesterol plaques in the arteries, breaks off and causes a clot in the pulmonaries. If there is very serious damage to the lungs with a PE, a PE can even lead to fulminant death.
