CastFromTheHip well me and you have a lot in common brother , I got the 2 I painted a couple years ago at a pawn shop . I think I paid 80 dollars for the both of em new in the store 1 reels cost more than that
Wow this is so beautiful and sweet of you to do this for your wife you are a great amazing husband and human being I enjoy seeing your diy fishing videos 👍🏼💪🏼🎣
This was a truly awesome DIY painting project. I loved the color. Back in the day I did a lot of fiberglass repair and did a lot of spray painting with automotive paint. I repaired a lot of bath tubs with auto paint. I haven't spray painted in years. This video almost makes me want to paint and suck fumes again.
Adventure Outdoors hey thank you buddy you right about the fumes I got to get me a new charcoal canister mask before I paint any more mine is worse out lol
Robert Agri Chillin' Outdoors I bet you do lol I've had that pile along time , I've worked it down a few times but Haha a man needs a new set of rod n reels every once in a while
👍🏼up #11.... Brother you did a awesome job on those and I bet she will appreciate those more than any new reel you would have bought....I did paint and body work for 15yrs back in my younger days, can't say I miss it too much....LOL I don't think you need to buy another reel in your lifetime....LOL
SK's CRAPPIE Catchn Adventures will you can give me some pointers lol I'm not a painter lol I'm just a jack of all trades , she did like em I just love old reels some of em i'l never use they just to look at lol I lost have crappie and catfish reels
those reels turn out pretty amazing, and that paint booth, very creative amma build one myself cause i usually dont do any painting stuff just to avoid the mess!
No . Even the automotive paint gets scratched up . But not as bad as rattle can paint . But you could use a spray bomb like i talked about in the video . It has a much better hardener than regular spray paint
I’m about to attempt to nickel plate some old reels have you ever tried that i have been looking for it on line but haven’t found it yet I like them reels you painted !!!
This is genius... never even thought to do this. Expect to see a bunch of brand-new looking reels on my channel soon! Thank you for posting man, this is awesome.
Hello friend. I do believe you have a fishing reel colection. I like the reel you made your wife. It's so totally cool. I'm sure she can not wait to get it out and catch a fish. Have a great day. Until next time. Belle.🐝
Same to you man. I really appreciate the advice you gave me! If you want to get up some time and throw some lines out let me know. We are not too far apart.
Yes Sir , it's good to good that about once a year , depending on how much you fish . If nothing else I'll clean the dog and worm gear since it's an external part and add a little oil
Brother you are a creative and innovative man!!! Brother that's a great idea!!! You have enough rods and reels to have a fishing pole giveaway 😂😂😂😂😂😂 you have a lifetime supply of poles man ..I love it!!!! I will be watching this video again with a reel in my hand and a paint gun lol
Crappie Sniper thank you brother wish I was as funny as you though lol , too tell the truth they turned out better than I thought they ever would i was just thinking the auto paint would hold up better
Fishin N Stuff yes indeed... Just wondering if I could do that with a spin reel Hummmmmm I might try it... I was painting til midnight last night and all week so I'm in a painting mood lol
You can , but I just cleaned it and it came out pretty good . I don't think prime is a bad idea . But I didn't want to make it to thick because I was afraid the clicker would scratch the paint off
Yes they were some handlers I took off some Decooler reels I bought and tried . They turned out to be junk , if you watch the DIY pressbrake video the reel I crush at the beginning that was a Decooler reel
Nice. Yea ive tried using krylon and an outdoor laquer enamel clear coat but it doesnt hold up well under heavy use. The laquer eventually wore of and then my hands started to turn blue from the paint rubbing off. Gona def use the auto enamel next time
@@FishinNStuff I have two of the Rockets BE and love them! I would buy a couple more if they wern't so much money! I am watching a bunch of your videos and enjoying them very much. Thank you brother, I really appreciate you watching. Dont be intimidated man , I'll tell you honestly it's hard at first , it's hard getting traction and growing, it's hard learning all the rules like copyright stuff and how to get views . @@FishinNStuff still looks good though. I am going to paint some of my fly fishing reels to look like trout. I can justify $1,000.00 or more for a reel.
@@FishinNStuff yeah, I was thinking of painting it in Anodized paint and taking it to a shop to have the final process done. I more likely than not will use auto paint.
I did sand em before I painted. It held up good . The only place there was any wear was the clicker slots . But im not rough on any of my reels , you could say I baby em

There are going to be a lot of carp fishermen in the Carolinas that will be happier than tornadoes in a trailer park! Awesome video man, I might have to get some orange paint
I thought about that but I was going for the look the newer reels have , I've good the blacked out ProRockets and the shield is painted the same color as the reel , but I agree if I had it to do over I would too . I appreciate you watching brother , this DIY is very old check out some of my newer video , you might like em we seem to think alike
Well I finished airbrushing a fly rod reel for a guy. It’s ready for clear. I usually use spray max 2k clear for goalie masks I paint. But for this reel I wanna try rustoleum clear. But I’m so scared it will mess it up. Hmm what to do..you Chk out my pre clear pic on Instagram: GoPro Goalie Uzi
