Picking the iguana up so many times to relocate will only create nerves so that they wont want to go near you because they dont want man handled. They are very sensitive and beautiful lizards and it takes alot of work and knowledge to do this the right way. Definitely check out Ontario Iguanas though she is on TH-cam and has several. That will be your best help. The body language described in this video is not correct either. If they are scared their dewlaps do not puff out. They shrink inward toward the jaw. Aggressive and angry iguanas project their dewlaps.
Takes lots of time friend, dont give up. I got 5 lizards right now(and one in incubation) and all have given me shit. Two especially right now. But if you love reptiles then you'll love the reward at the end and in return enjoy the experience of getting there. Iguanas are hard. Freaking nuts. Got two right now and got bit the other day by one, hes barley a year old. My Rhinos about 2 now and a sweetheart but when I got him he was about a year and totally nuts. My water monitor was a freak, you couldn't get close to his enclosure without him freaking out, he almost bit the tip of my finger off( blood everywhere) . A year later he gets excited and wants to crawl all over me whenever he sees me. I've had my male tegu for about 12 years and the end result is a puppy tame lizard my kids can lay with and cuddle but wasnt always that way either. My point is dont give up, it takes lots of time, patience and experience. Reptile keeping is a real hobby not just some past time. It's a awesome fun experience. But you really gotta get into it to enjoy it.
I really need help with my iguana. I bought him today he is three months old. Taking him out the box of course he was scared but so was I, after he was in his tank he allowed me to pick him up, and I tried to feed him but he keeps kicking everything not eating. After doing some more shopping for him I came home and attempted to hand feed him again and he started running around as if he was scared of me again. I really don't know what to do but I really am trying. He still won't eat please help!!
Oh no. Yeah you’re doing it mostly right but missing one crucial thing; time. Wait AT LEAST 2 weeks before handling or trying to hand feed. You can put your hands in to clean the cage if he permits, but other than that give the iguana some space. Let me know if this works out for you!
@@GoldenEmpireProductions yes this did work for me. I gave him his first bath Monday and he allowed me to use a tooth brush. Getting him out of the tub I put him on a towel to crawl on and before I got out of the bathroom he crawled into my shirt. I was able to carry him into the room and back into his cage I'm sure him crawling on me was a good this right?
Kalil Baines yes! That’s amazing! God job and thanks for watching my tutorial. Continue doing this for a few months and by then he should be fully trained and tamed!
Nor is Kale. Spinach contains a lot of oxalic acid and Kale can cause thyroid problems. Both should be fed in small amounts to prevent complications of their organs and digestive system.
It sounds like you haven't given her enough time. Make sure the food is in her enclosure in a safe space and give her some time without picking her up. AFter 2 or 3 weeks you can try hand-feeding and then give this video a try.
I read that iguanas can eat mulberry leaves, is this something you've tried? I have a mulberry tree so if this works it will make it easy to add variety to meals
Haven’t tried, but I wouldn’t doubt it. Don’t feed that inclusively, but yeah to mix it up a little bit try it! They can eat rose pedals and so many other common bushes / leaves too. Give it a try and let me know!
If anything that’s a good thing, that means they trust you. My bearded dragon won’t eat unless I hand feed him aswell. Very strange in the aspect that they don’t like eating unless they’re hand fed. I’m no expert, but I’d say that’s a good thing.
I have a green iguana but everytime i get him out of the cage he runs everywhere inside the cage to avoid me should i just let him live in my room like u do
Pls do not listen to this kid he has only had it for a few days and dosent even know that the tail is one of the worst place to touch your iguana and the tank is clearly too small he'll outgrow that in a month and he is force feeding he like its a dog pls do your research before getting a pet like this
Kamren, I’m sorry you feel that way. However, this is a very good way to train and it’s helped several. Is everything okay? Do we need to talk? Let me help you.
Aye Arkansas gang🤘🏻 but fr tho I've had my iguana for about 6 months now and I don't give him as much attention as I need to but I want to build that relationship with him, is it still possible?
Yes. You might want to watch videos of someone with more knowledge of reptiles then this young man. Seems like this guy wants to help, but has absolutely no idea on what to do with green iguanas. Good luck with your iguana.
Hey! Thanks a lot. Love your videos. Youre right, this is just a technique that worked for me. If it helps others then I hope it can. This is in no way the best or probably proper way. Just what worked for me! Thanks Dave, keep it up!
My iguana passed away around 7-8 months after this video, however he had tamed down quite well. I basically revived him from the horrible shape he was in from this video into a green, beautiful, vibrant iguana I was super proud of! Thanks for your comment.
I found baby iguana fall in the Pail filled with rain . I tried to let it go. Well, it ran. After that my female cat caught it. Then I ran to rescue it. I put it in the medium aquarium for safety. I don't have spinach or watermelon. But I do have strawberries. Can I feed it that? Please tell me. Thanks.. I wanted to let it fed b4 I let it go... 😉
My baby iguana is too scared of me i got her a week ago and idk what to do. She eats mustard greens (strawberries somtimes) but she eats everyday, i just need help lol

Blankfaceman Awhhh omg ,hes a baby he’s like 5 months he’s still scared of me but I read to give them like a week or so to realize u provide them with the food we’re gonna build him a big cage outside so he has Lott’s of room 😢

Bro your iguana looks exactly like mine I’ve had him for about a week and he seems mean so I’m scared to pick him up, and I’m scared to let him roam around because he’ll probably take off running, any tips?
If he’s aggressive watch my video about dealing with aggressive iguanas. I’d recommend waiting about a week before you get him to do that method though. Reptiles can have a hard time moving in to new homes. Wait another week, try that method, and if he’s still not getting better let me know!
Just wondering what did you do before you iguana was this calm. I’ve had mine for a month and he is younger than this one but still terrified of me. Being patient with him I hope that’s the answer.
Ari Divinity sit in front of the cage for a couple hours each day. When cleaning out his cage or maintenance to it, go slowly. He will become less scared of your hand. With time get closer and closer. After a month or so he will be okay with your hand. Then try this method. Hope this helps.
So i just got a baby from a rescue and he's very skittish. I've had him about 3 days and I've just hung around for now and kinda reached in his cage after a few days and he freaks out if I even go a little close to him. He freaks out to where he falls off his hammock and the side of his cage(its mesh not glass).
Golden Empire Productions I just got a green iguana 2 weeks ago but when I feed him he’s 100% fine with it when he’s in his environment in his cage but when I take him out in my room he freaks out and scratches at the wall and leans up against the corner and won’t even look at me

@@mwoods4608 Becky is right. If the iguanas weren't handled beforehand, then there is a chance of them just being scared. If they still are okay, great to hear!
Try the method above. If hes flighty, pyt your hand in his cage often. Just dont touch. Do this for a couple of weeks to 1 month, and he should be good. If he wants to bite, hold him often. IGUANAS DO NOT TRAIN EASY. Hope these tips work!
@@phillipgodfrey8141 I have a red one hes a baby i just got him im kinda new to the owning one i have read everything about them tho and did my research and do know they will get large!
a baby iguana should have a 40 gallon and you should be upgrading as they grow and they will eventually need AT LEAST and 6ft wide 6 ft long 6 ft tall cage the cheapest way to do it is to honestly build it yourself but a 100 gallon like you stated in the text in the beginning is way too small please don’t interpret this wrong!! i’m simple stating i’m not “coming” at you or anything!! also the tail is one of the most dangerous areas to mess with along with the mouth ( i do appreciate you adding in the video “if you aren’t comfortable touching the head it’s okay”!! thank you for adding that for people who are new to iguanas) but as i was saying the iguana could tail whip if feeling scared or frightened which can lead to stitches and deep cuts/wounds! and a adult or semi adult iguana can even break bones with their tails! i’m only saying this because i didn’t like that you told people to touch their tails because in some cases that can be extremely dangerous even with babies!! but thank you again for explaining in your video to touch them WHEREEVER you are comfortable i feel like that was helpful to people who watched this and have just gotten a iguana !! also iguana care/setup/behavior/ etc... is EXTREMELY different from other large lizards!! and i just wanted to add i understand why you felt obligated to buy from pet co or pet smart because when i walk in and see they’re animals and reptiles i feel terrible and i know most die but when we buy animals from them to “rescue” we are only causing more animals to die/ live in terrible conditions!! but again no bash towards you i understand why you would rescue from a pet store because it can be quite heart breaking! i know this comment might come off as me being rude or something but that’s not my intention at all!! (also please ignore my grammar i’m typing on my phone and i never use grammar when on my phone!!)
Hi, my name is Tere and I got my first to Guangzhou on the same 2 weeks ago.he's bought, I want to see a foot long now, and you're gonna find out that I'm in the older. The Iguana gets you will need file their nails down and the UG Wata will get about 6 feet in length, just let you know, and you'll go through changes with him or her and. I have learned. Through other people that have a gwan you go through changes with your Guana more than you will with the Iguana. Just wanted to let you know that that's cool, I really need species bye bye.
For a baby iguana his size, it would have lasted him about another 6 months. Plus, i wouldnt even reccomend getting an aquarium for them. Build an outdoor eclosure with heating. Again. For the last time. This is a TAMING VIDEO. Not a setup
That iguana looks very dehydrated! And spinach is bad because it binds calcium which is what they need the most of.. kale is also a no no best are collards mustard and turnip greens
Golden Empire Productions bro I’m sorry that he died but he died from improper care rather it be before you got him or while you were trying to figure it out who knows.. his color did look better but the weight was still very under what it should be my iguana is 5 months old and is now almost as big as a year old iguana and is dog tame already all I have to do is open his cage and he crawls up my arm I haven’t done a recent video but I’m going to tomorrow. The greens needs chopped up more because they can choke and man I’m telling you spinach is one of the worst thing you can feed to a iguana especially a juvenile adults can handle it but babies need all the calcium they can get.. what type of light was that I don’t think you were achieving the correct temps and proper thermal gradient.
@@Wickedreptiles my iguana died from escaping my room and then fighting my dog. Please stop. My iguana before passing, was actually normal weight. Which was something he had never been before. Great video but spinach really shouldn't be fed to a baby green Iguana, if you feed him vegies feed him/ her fresh spring mix never anything slimy(can be toxic) or iceberg lettuce
Not fresh spring mix either, that contains spinach and chard...which also is not good for them. Fresh greens should be mustard, turnip, collard & dandelion as their staple greens. Here's a PDF printable food chart that I use for my ig. myavho.com/storage/app/media/Herbivorous_Reptile_Food_Chart.pdf

But it says if you feed it banana it’s toxic for them
Are the supposed to be a little brown
No, most likely just dehydrated. Make sure you have proper humidity and hydrate them often. Soaks are good too.
Hey about that thing stroking their tail, the iguana is too afraid of me that i afraid that the iguana will disconnect the tail, what should i do?
zebwolf just don’t touch it and try the other methods!
@@GoldenEmpireProductions well the iguana is not afraid of me anymore! It believe me now i handfeed and watch youtube with it
zebwolf glad to hear! Subscribe if it helped!
I need help my iguana is scared and charges at me.. he’s bite me 5 times. And won’t let me touch him at all
Takes lots of time friend, dont give up.
Neme that was a long reply
Kalil Baines ^
@@GoldenEmpireProductions yes this did work for me. I gave him his first bath Monday and he allowed me to use a tooth brush. Getting him out of the tub I put him on a towel to crawl on and before I got out of the bathroom he crawled into my shirt. I was able to carry him into the room and back into his cage I'm sure him crawling on me was a good this right?
Kalil Baines yes! That’s amazing! God job and thanks for watching my tutorial. Continue doing this for a few months and by then he should be fully trained and tamed!
Spinach is alright but watch out cause spinach is not good for them to have all the time
Collard greens and mustard greens are the best!
Nor is Kale. Spinach contains a lot of oxalic acid and Kale can cause thyroid problems. Both should be fed in small amounts to prevent complications of their organs and digestive system.
@@GoldenEmpireProductions And turnip greens and Dandelion greens.
StyxNyx1 right!!!! ^
Kale is ok to use any reptile expert will tell you kale is ok
My iguana doesn’t allow me to pick her up, she doesn’t let me feed her and all I want is her to trust me. Help!
Give it a try and let me know!
the iguana that I got was super chill and wasn’t flighty or anything. it only eats tho when I feed it should I be worried?
If anything that’s a good thing, that means they trust you. My bearded dragon won’t eat unless I hand feed him aswell. Very strange in the aspect that they don’t like eating unless they’re hand fed. I’m no expert, but I’d say that’s a good thing.
man I’m relieved thank you! was just worried cus it kinda lacked energy well compared to yours in the vid haha
I have a green iguana but everytime i get him out of the cage he runs everywhere inside the cage to avoid me should i just let him live in my room like u do
Mine is like that too its cause you're in his territory they get very high strung and instinctual
Does the iguna poop smell if I were to keep it in my room
Regular cage cleanings and the iguana is not much of a smell problem.
How do you clean the cage
The cage, did you see the room
This is from 2 years but this is gonna help with my knew baby i Guana
I got a new iguana just like yours here but its afraid of me so do you recommend me to just touch it and ven if its scared or no ?
I recommend you let him eat off your hand. dont feed him for 2 days, then let him eat off your hand.
Don Vergaz bro you took forever to reply it’s dead a months ago 💀💀💀

Don Vergaz nobody took care of it when i left the house for 2 days came back found it dead

Maybe give your iguana instead Romaine lettuce cause it better and wet his food so it doesn't dry up and would eat it
How is the iguana after a year?
My iguana passed away around 7-8 months after this video, however he had tamed down quite well. I basically revived him from the horrible shape he was in from this video into a green, beautiful, vibrant iguana I was super proud of! Thanks for your comment.
Nooo, how??
I found baby iguana fall in the Pail filled with rain . I tried to let it go. Well, it ran. After that my female cat caught it. Then I ran to rescue it. I put it in the medium aquarium for safety. I don't have spinach or watermelon. But I do have strawberries. Can I feed it that? Please tell me. Thanks.. I wanted to let it fed b4 I let it go... 😉
How can I make sure my iguana is happy during breeding season?
Find them a mate and they will be calm after
My baby iguana is too scared of me i got her a week ago and idk what to do. She eats mustard greens (strawberries somtimes) but she eats everyday, i just need help lol
Try the methods in the video, if it doesnt work over the span of a few week let me know and ill be happy to help.
I used to have a baby bearded dragon that I named Rango but he recently passed away during the move because I moved to a new home, and today I just got surprised with a iguana when I just woke up so I’m happy again
ok bro this is insanely wrong in many ways
I just got my iguana today too and his name is also rango🥺
I got mine a couple days ago and i named him rango too lmao
Blankfaceman Awhhh omg ,hes a baby he’s like 5 months he’s still scared of me but I read to give them like a week or so to realize u provide them with the food we’re gonna build him a big cage outside so he has Lott’s of room 😢

I named mine Geico :D
Just got my max.
😫 ive had mine since September 2020. Its july 2021 and mine is a ass hole. Ive tried everything. to tame him. Ive not given up on him tho.
when is it safe to pick up my baby iguana? it has just arrived
Wait until it gets used to it’s new environment. I’d say 1-2weeks. Thanks for stopping by!
thanks dude
Bro your iguana looks exactly like mine I’ve had him for about a week and he seems mean so I’m scared to pick him up, and I’m scared to let him roam around because he’ll probably take off running, any tips?
If he’s aggressive watch my video about dealing with aggressive iguanas. I’d recommend waiting about a week before you get him to do that method though. Reptiles can have a hard time moving in to new homes. Wait another week, try that method, and if he’s still not getting better let me know!
Golden Empire Productions will do! thanks
I-am TheRealWill of course!!
What a cutie 🥰
Mine runs away from me😭
So i just got a baby from a rescue and he's very skittish. I've had him about 3 days and I've just hung around for now and kinda reached in his cage after a few days and he freaks out if I even go a little close to him. He freaks out to where he falls off his hammock and the side of his cage(its mesh not glass).
Do they need calcium powder as babies?
Yes, 2-3 times a week for babies.
Have any more questions let me know!
Golden Empire Productions I just got a green iguana 2 weeks ago but when I feed him he’s 100% fine with it when he’s in his environment in his cage but when I take him out in my room he freaks out and scratches at the wall and leans up against the corner and won’t even look at me

I have a green and blue iguana and They are got tamed them the same day i got them they are such good animals
Great to hear! A lot train easily, but this tutorial is for iguanas that dint train as easily
They are too scared at first to be aggressive. They need acclamation when you first get them. Let him get used to his home before you start handling him
@@mwoods4608 Becky is right. If the iguanas weren't handled beforehand, then there is a chance of them just being scared. If they still are okay, great to hear!
Omg I was thinking about getting an iguana in about a week, but I was going to name him rango too!
oo i had named my iguana rango at first now it's new name is rambo lol
How much did pay for him
60 I believe!
I paid 35
Oh wow I paid $100 too much huh?
My iguana has never been aggressive
Bro we have type the same iguana cage
plz comment tips mine is still scared had him about a month
Try the method above. If hes flighty, pyt your hand in his cage often. Just dont touch. Do this for a couple of weeks to 1 month, and he should be good. If he wants to bite, hold him often. IGUANAS DO NOT TRAIN EASY. Hope these tips work!
I tried food with my iguana and it didn’t work so I showed him my hand and he let me scratch his head and pet him
Awesome! Glad it helped!
Cool iguana I like the green ones
if you like the green, check out the blue and the red. they are awsom as well
@@phillipgodfrey8141 I have a red one hes a baby i just got him im kinda new to the owning one i have read everything about them tho and did my research and do know they will get large!
Hopefully by now he has a much much bigger enclosure than a 100 gal. That’s WAY too small for an adult iguana.
also i pet my iguana on the stomach and he puffs up :/
him "dont mid=nd the copyrighted music in the back!"
Not copyright 😜
Bro the food was right it loves it
a baby iguana should have a 40 gallon and you should be upgrading as they grow and they will eventually need AT LEAST and 6ft wide 6 ft long 6 ft tall cage the cheapest way to do it is to honestly build it yourself but a 100 gallon like you stated in the text in the beginning is way too small please don’t interpret this wrong!! i’m simple stating i’m not “coming” at you or anything!! also the tail is one of the most dangerous areas to mess with along with the mouth ( i do appreciate you adding in the video “if you aren’t comfortable touching the head it’s okay”!! thank you for adding that for people who are new to iguanas) but as i was saying the iguana could tail whip if feeling scared or frightened which can lead to stitches and deep cuts/wounds! and a adult or semi adult iguana can even break bones with their tails! i’m only saying this because i didn’t like that you told people to touch their tails because in some cases that can be extremely dangerous even with babies!! but thank you again for explaining in your video to touch them WHEREEVER you are comfortable i feel like that was helpful to people who watched this and have just gotten a iguana !! also iguana care/setup/behavior/ etc... is EXTREMELY different from other large lizards!! and i just wanted to add i understand why you felt obligated to buy from pet co or pet smart because when i walk in and see they’re animals and reptiles i feel terrible and i know most die but when we buy animals from them to “rescue” we are only causing more animals to die/ live in terrible conditions!! but again no bash towards you i understand why you would rescue from a pet store because it can be quite heart breaking! i know this comment might come off as me being rude or something but that’s not my intention at all!! (also please ignore my grammar i’m typing on my phone and i never use grammar when on my phone!!)
I talk about this in my more recent videos. Thanks!
Jesus fucking Christ I almost became retarded reading this 🙃
Lmao 100 gallon tank is wayyyyyyyy too small itll basically be a dog kennel for him
For a baby iguana his size, it would have lasted him about another 6 months.
Please watch recent videos. I got him healthy and back to normal. This is just a training tutorial right after i got him!
I’m not trying to hate on you eathier but I just like helping people have more of a chance at a healthy pet iguana that lives to be 15-20
@@Wickedreptiles my iguana died from escaping my room and then fighting my dog. Please stop. My iguana before passing, was actually normal weight. Which was something he had never been before. I JUST GOT MY IGUANA AND IT ALL READY HATES ME
Did you not watch the video at all, you have to be persistent
Great video but spinach really shouldn't be fed to a baby green Iguana, if you feed him vegies feed him/ her fresh spring mix never anything slimy(can be toxic) or iceberg lettuce
Spring mix isnt amazing either. I mentioned this in the video! Always use fresh mustard or collard greens!!! Thanks :)

Spinach is not recommended for daily feeding. Please read the green iguana Society web site & the iguana den for a healthy diet.
Thank you, but im aware. Collard greens or mustard greens are the best staple for greens. I believe i mentioned this in the video. Hello?
He needs something high to climb on. They live in trees. 100 gallons is not big enough. Needs to be 6 feet tall at least!! They need several temperatures through out the day. 100-95 basking. 95-85 to cool down. Shade, water access, a humidifier. Please don't believe this video!!
Yes becky! This video is not a cage setup. This video is a TRAINING method. Please dont falsely accuse me on not knowing things. Thanks.
