@kinor Spielman Well then Kinor, then for you watching football is good. Is that real football, I think Americans call it soccer, or the kind that's like a version of rugby? Real football can be a joy to watch, especially when played by Brazil. The Beautiful Game
@kinor Spielman It's a matter of personal preference Kinor. A lot of people like rap "music", I can't stand it, mostly but I can leave rap artists and their fans to it. I do like the way Rachel Podger plays and the sound of her violin. I know nothing about the technical or theoretical side of music, I just go with what I like. Some musicians do it for me, some don't. For instance Simon Preston is a well known organist but I simply don't like the way he plays. However lots of people obviously do
I didn't knew Rachel Podger... I have to say this is the best interpretation i have heard in my life, of the Partita 2. The Gigue and Chaconne are very significant to me. The Chaconne is a deeply emotional piece that connected with me. (I connected to it, rather) I lost several people in the last months, they didn't die, but the Chaconne reminds me of the pain of losing them.
This violin in her hands is not from this world. This is the sound I have been searching for in my instruments and playing for all this time.... Incredible.
Zhiyuan Liu yes, string, but still, it’s her technique and attitude. I recently recorded a record with gut strings and got pretty close to the sound of the fiddle. But still very far from her playing.... sigh.
I can't believe this recording doesn't have more likes. Listening to the chaconne is life changing. Absolutely celestial. And not too much ornamentation. Love it
The partita number two is one of those cusps of music history and abstract beauty, comparable to the suites for solo cello. The chaconne of the partita 2, as the sarabande of the 5th cello suite, are mysterious monument to musical genius and summits of human creativity and musical essence. This partita, a work of devilish difficulty and transcendent beauty, is almost incomprehensible in its dry emotion and hidden mystery. This music is addictive. This rendering by Rachel Podger achieves the miracle of beauty , emotion and technical perfection. It adds to the short list of Menuhin, Szeryng, Hilary Hahn, and other gifted violin players who will remain in the history of music. Thanks for uploading.
@kinor Spielman The first amendment allows you to express your opinion. However, in a classical music forum such as this, there is a tacit agreement of finesse and respect. A statement such as "Podger, whose tinny soporific Baroque sound is to my ears awful" should not be allowed in gentlemanly company..
Cette fameuse Chaconne tellement jouée que dire?...J aime cette interprétation, Rachel Podger épouse la corde et recherche le son tout en créant la couleur émanant ainsi le chant de la polyphonie musicale, superbe...
The rendering of the composition and the flow of music emanating from the violin is beautiful and continuous akin to a "rustling brook" but unfortunately interrupted by the advertisements. Nevertheless thank you for presenting the video.
Not too much reverb. In fact, this is probably far less reverb than what Bach had in mind. If you want to hear every painful high frequency detail of the violin, that's on you.
@@s.l5787 Yes and... No. For instance, the Thomaskirche in Leipzig is not very big and has a reasonable natural reverb. Also, at the time, you had tapestries on walls and other stuffs to insulate the church a bit which means the reverb was significantly more limited compared to now. But, Yes, those pieces are def. made for locations with a natural reverb. Personally, I don't think there is too much reverb in this recording.

Toni Anzlovar Yes! Recording after recording, all I can say is yes! This is it! Every note.
Yes, Rachel certainly found the right violin. What a sound
The sound is from the string she use which is the gut string, it makes an astounding sound
(Also this is in Baroque tuning which is fantastic)
Zhiyuan Liu yes, string, but still, it’s her technique and attitude. I recently recorded a record with gut strings and got pretty close to the sound of the fiddle. But still very far from her playing.... sigh.
@@tonianzlovar7590 yes! i agree, she is phenomenal, i really want to try a gut string too!

Well, the Chaconne has been admired for over 300 years, and will remain this way even after TH-cam has melted into the dust.
@kinor Spielman You are the one who's bloody awful; this rendition is amazing.
Henryk Szeryng versión is very intresting too

Stunning interpretations. The ciaconna is breathtaking. Blows so many (all?) other interpretations out of the water.

THE CHACONNE IS AMAZING
Wow that’s the quickest tempo I’ve ever heard the Giga played! Simply stunning!
I like how the articulation is clear. I love to hear the slurs here!
It’s pretty fast but search up Anne Sophie mutter partita no 2 gigue and it’s faster or the same speed but yeah
Could you dance to it?
@@andrewroberts8139yes
It’s just bouncy not the fastest.
Magnificent uncluttered version that brings out all the best qualities of this piece.
Highly consoling in these terribly difficult times. Beauty is hard won and well worth the winning.
19:59 - 21:41 absolutely stunning
Stunning performance of this incredible work
I am deeply impressed by the gifted player an the music God inspired.
バロック ヴァイオリン の響き 素晴らしいね魅了されました。
Hermosamente interpretado.....bravisimo!!!
One of the best interpretations, and above all, speed. Excellent.
Magnifique! Ma version préférée des sonates et partitas au violon baroque et l'autre version sublime, celle de Nell Gotkovsky, vynil, RCA
malheureusement disques introuvables .
listening to her felt like journey in time so reflective and inspiring
This is the first time I ever heard this women play so far sogood !!!!

Shows the musical incompetence of TH-cam by littering such a beautiful recording with ads

Great recording, almost ruined by the TH-cam ad placed in the MIDDLE of the fkn chaconne. Pls fix

Why is Hilary Hahn so popular? This interpretation is 100 times better than Hilary's.
Agree 1000%
Hahn is overrated . I also think Rachel is much better.
What's this..."Hahn is overrated" "Rachel is much better"
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

jiji love the sarabande
Do analog recordings of strings produce a richer sound or is it me?
maybe because the strings are made of guts?
gut not guts

If you’re not dancing what does it matter. Listening only is different than dancing to it

As an ornament.
Her Chaconne is a bit too sweet for my taste. All the rest is marvellous.
+hi
Very good, indeed. But there is a different standard made by Heifetz, Perlman and Glitis.
Lovely recording, but ads in the middle of movements earns you a thumbs down every time
Far too much reverb. Why? It robs the performance of clarity. She sounds like she's performing in a public toilet.
