I've spent my whole life trying to sing, and always being flat. But now I realise I was trying to sing like a girl! Today I've discovered my comfortable range is about B2 to A4.

My daughter is a rare female tenor. Me, I am the rare basso profondo (actually a little lower than average one). So that's understandable, since I didn't really understand how broad my range actually was, until I actually began training in my late 20's. My day-to-day range is B0-D5. Using other techniques and on-mic, it's more like E0-G5.

Ya don't have to sing flat "as a girl"- (I'm assuming, at this point, that you're a bloke!) That's where register-switches come in bloody handy! If ya wanna sing what you're calling "female notes", then switch into head-voice, as opposed to trying to stretch your belt register that high, 'cos that ain't gunna happen, mush, and trust me, you'll do yourself a bloody mischief, even bleedin' trying, mate!

I try to sing at a local club for a year or so. I am an enthusiast in singing and taking lessons for almost 5 years. I was always told that I am a metzosoprano, but sometimes I had to sing as an Alto at some Acapella Groups , and at several times served as Soprano. In this test my range was B2 to C#6 so I still do not know my classification.

Mine are almost the exact same, I'm still getting used to staying on pitch when I sing and finding the right key for me (because I want to do it all) but I've been impressing myself by not singing and working on holding steady notes. I'm having so much fun learning I can sing lower and higher than i thought possible. I even accidentally unlocked my false chords, my inner metal head is so happy with it. 😆

I injured my voice over 15 years ago while pushing too hard to try to work on my upper register. I've been afraid to even try to go above an E5 ever since because I don't want to reinjure my voice. Tonight, I decided to relax, trust my voice and see what happens. I went from A#2 on the low end to F#5 on the high end! What surprised me even more is that I haven't been actively in choir for over 4 years now. I now know that I can work to get my range back to where it previously was. Plus, I added a few notes on the low end after my injury, so it will be fun to be able to choose to sing between tenor, alto and soprano 2 in choir again. ☺ My "comfortable" range is C3 to D5. Contraltos all the way! 😁

D3 to E6. (I strain above C6.) I am normally an instrumentalist but had to take a voice class in college, a music major requirement. My instructor said I was a mezzo and kept giving me music that went to F6, which I just can't hit. Then the piano accompanist scolded me for singing above my range, handed me the contralto part, and OH MY GOODNESS, I felt my voice open up. I felt like the mezzo music was hurting my throat. I wouldn't mind getting back into singing. Years ago, I even taught myself throat singing. So fun! I've been thinking about picking that up again.

Even though I’m comfortable as an alto my last choir director insisted on putting me in with the upper sopranos, possibly because she believed my range could extend upward, but more probably because my pitch is excellent and to have me anchor wobblier sopranos. ;) Liked and subscribed.

I went to vocal classes as a child and then to music college and I was singing professionaly in my 20s, till I hurt my voice several time and its become unusable. I could sing 1-2 song and then I would start to loose voice and basically wake up next morning unable to talk, so I was not able to work concerts any more or anything without hurting my voice. So my singing career ended, now I'm 54 and I don't sing anymore for long time, just wanted to test my ability to take notes lol.

When I joined an adult choir in my church at 16, I was put in Alto 2 because the choir lack of Alto 2, and I didn't exercise my voice for 2 years. When I was a freshman in university, I joined a choir student and my coach put me in Soprano 2 and Alto 1. To be honest, I enjoyed being Soprano 2 and Alto 1, but I prefer being Soprano 2 (because my soul is still in Soprano).

Hi Ian , love your channel , thankyou for the great workout videos , so my comfortable range is from C3 TO B5 , so would that make me an alto or contralto alto ?

    • @Rednaxela137
      @Rednaxela137 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You’re in the mezzo range with good low notes unless you have a powerful and deeper tone then you’re definitely a contralto

Wow we are identical lol almost I'm an f2-a5 but I generally sing 3rd and fourth octave. I can use high notes more because I practice those but it's actually easier to sustain lower notes I don't really get as tired as I do high notes.

B2 to G5 for me. I genuinely didn't think I could sing that high ever, so this really helps me! I'm a female I've never done vocal training so the fact that I was able to sing this high and low shocked me. (my voice is slightly deep so that's why)

Absolute range: G2-G5. Range most comfortable to me: C3-E5.
    Shift into head voice: C4
Range I most love to sing: A3-A4.
My singing teacher told me I'm a mezzo. I know its super rare, but I think I might actually be a true contralto. I find I have the perfect range to sing with tenors (in their octave) and my tone is much fuller around the lower notes. E.g. I can sing the lowest notes in Anti-Hero with ease (the ones Taylof Swift uses vocal fry for).

C#2 - D7. Need to work on strengthening it, so I can sing Coloratura parts with confidence. I am a bit blown away, that's 3 notes higher, than January. But I've been doing good warmups, to extend my range - and now I need to pull it all together.

I’ve always liked singing but never thought I was any good I found my range in chest voice and it’s D#3 for absolute lowest but slightly uncomfortable so I’ll say E3-F#4/G4
My head voice can go low but we’ll just pick up where I left off G4-F#5 F#5 is as high as I can go while holding the note
I am 14 and female if anyone knows what I would be classified as like alto and that kind of thing pls help me out!

I have a comfortable range from B2 to a G#6.. I always wanted to know what type I am,clearly not a soprano but maybe a Bariton. Always feel comfortable to sing her Songs and Songs in that range, but I also sing Songs in a very high range like Within Temptation or just Musical and opera to train myself. Till now it worked out quite Well ,only to feel comfortable with belting. I am a rocksinger btw.greets jen

Today, with some short prior warm up today my range was C#3 to G#5. I can hit higher notes, but not in a sustainable way as to include in my "everyday range". This is with basically no singing in nearly 10 years, so at least it's a rested and restored voice and vocal range.
