Reverse discrimination is a misuse of the English Language. Discrimination is discrimination, no matter who is the victim, period.

Wow a brilliant breakdown of the law, yet only 70 views, it is clear how inconvenient the truth is if it doesn't fit the narrative

This happens on a monthly basis where I work. I work in Canada at a major university and they no longer look at merit but they rather want diversity, whether or not the candidate is qualified or not. The unit I work in only promotes 'minority' workers and hires immigrants of the same race as the manager. Even individuals within and ouside of the unit I work in who are from that same race as my manager have recognized this and those who have been promoted just laugh because they know that should anyone raise this, the person will be labelled a racist. As the benefits offered are so highly valued, no one complains, also another reason no one complains is if you do start a legal case against them, then you'll never get a job again, because you will be seen as a whistleblower and we all know what happens to them. Good luck in getting a job in your sector ever again. Edit: Plus on the equality and diversity page - it is noted that 'reverse discrimination does not exist' and is means to continue the status quo from the majority advantaged groups (white males).

It's like in-groups engage in preferential treatment for their in-group and only whites believe in "merit".

This is happening here in the USA in the university system.

Universities used to be great places to work. They’re now just union drudgery where you can’t get a promotion unless you fit the demographic requirements. White people should go work in the private sector where merit is still kind of a thing

This does happen in workplaces where the management hired is predominantly black.
Most of the EEOC case workers that work for the government are black as well and will persuade you that you have no case.
Unfortunately, proving your case is nearly impossible. No reputable lawyer will waste their resources to take you on if you’re white. They have an income to make and you’re simply not worth their time. You just have to bite the bullet and move on with a new employer.
Not worth the headache or time unless you have tangible evidence: i.e. A voice recording where they’re clearly stating their racism. However, reverse racism is passive aggressive and implied. It’s nearly impossible to prove.
Their reasoning for your termination will likely be defended by one of your shortcomings or a mistake you made, especially in work-at-will states. HR loves to push that.

@@tommydesimone269 hey im getting ready to file a complaint with the eeoc about a line lead at my job. She has assaulted me several time and repeatedly screamed profanities and threats at me. It has gotten so bad that I actually hid in other departments for hours so I would not have to be around this women. When I told my supervisors I did not understand why she was treating me like this they just pretty much ignored me and now they have been shadowing me. I work in a predominantly black place and im horribly treated by other coworkers , im been assaulted , threatened , had things thrown at me and constantly bullied. Im just waiting for the company to demoted me from my position and cut my hours or possibly fire me before I file my complaint. What kind of documention do I need to make a case. I have one guy who said he will come foward to say im bullied and he is the same race as the line lead.

@@tomb9420 witnesses and anything in writing are the best things to have. Also, document dates and times that the incidents took place so you can create a timeline of events to provide the eeoc with. It also will help tremendously if you have a lawyer on your side, good luck.

It would be more helpful to know what to do to prove any of these types of discrimination as on the surface a claim would have to be so outrageously obvious, with witnesses and documentation and other evidence . However, this is almost never the case but people are hurt badly nevertheless. It seems that any free advice in the legal world amounts to what a victim CAN'T DO rather than what a victim CAN do. I think that is the case here.

    • @triciaaustin90
      @triciaaustin90 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Correct. I believe that he stated that. “Reverse discrimination” is not an actual term. It is just basically discrimination. Plain and simple. It’s just now that this is becoming more prevalent as it seems some employers are giving more leeway to previously known minority groups versus predominately favored groups in the past, that we use the term “reverse” because in decades past this would typically never happen. Perhaps in fear of being sued for “Discrimination”. It almost seems to me as if companies are now going way above and beyond protecting previously discriminated against groups in an attempt to prove they are NOT discriminating, which again proves that they actually are discriminating, still.... hahaa Aiy vay!!! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

I think by adding the word reverse or furthering the idea that one another race does some thing we have to categorize it as something else because we couldn’t possibly be doing the same thing or if I go apply where only gay people are being hired I am not gay I would say I was discriminated against the reverse of discrimination would be some thing like affirmation lol makes no sense

If you practicure discrimination then it tells a lot about your persona regardless your skin colour.
People should be hired based on qualification. Not because of diversity, gender, sexual orientation or handicap.
If you want to diversify and treat all your employees equally then thats great but If you do anything illegal then you better have your affairs in order.

Nepotism is huge within certain cultures where everyone is called “cousin.” And within certain organizations (UCSF, I’m looking at you.) But good luck trying to prove that they didn’t hire you because you aren’t Filipino. The letter they send you when they reject you after your interview (they legally have to interview every qualified candidate within the system before they go ahead and hire their cousin,) says that they found someone more qualified. Their 18 year old cousin who just graduated high school is clearly far more experienced than you who have worked in that field for 6 years and have a degree in it. Clearly.

Hi William. I looked back at the section you mention. I can absolutely see what you mean. It does sound demeaning. All I can say is that it certainly wasn't meant that way! It was meant as a factual statement, that a lot of immigrants are extremely motivated to build a life in CA that they couldn't in their country of origin. But the way it came out does sounds pretty racist. Do you think its bad enough that I should take down, edit, and re-upload?
