034 does make a good part.

The OEM map TQ curve is the better one, yes less TQ overall but the linear power delivery is spot on.

I assume you are Tim's son? I haven't followed what's up with you guys in a decade or so. When did you take over? Y'all did a story on my car 30 years ago lol.

I'm not sure about the figures. The stock output at crank should be 216hp, yet you get this AW and say that the IC and intake don't make any difference. 🤔

GTIs are famous for being underrated in the HP department. Early Mk7s dynoed at 220-230. Later Mk7.5s were around 240-250!

It looks like the ideal shift point for this car is around 4500 rpm based on the dyno graft and the assumption you have a 1000 rpm drop for each upshift.

You need to factor in what the next gears hp/tq/rpm is when determining this. Can’t just take one gears dyno #’s to determine shift points.

It’s definitely not. You’re confusing torque and hp graphs I think. At 4500hp you are below hp peak.

Is why the DSG is so good. Keeps you in the power band with 7 gears vs 6 assuming you have a 7.5.

Validating the sponsor’s tune but assurance it’s unbiased. Right, right…

It’s already been proven time and time again on TH-cam. Unless everyone is “in on it” and lying, the tune makes what 034 states it does… More importantly, it does so with a very progressive curve.

@@thegreenberetlife0191 but a blind run tells you nothing of how the car is actually doing internally like whats the knock threshold changes with the tune? What does the knock retard look like... This was just a paid advertisement with bias. They didn't log because they cant change anything? What BS.

Cheap speed this GTI. If VWs were easier to work on, I’d go with one of these for a track build vs a BRZ/FRS or Miata.

They are easy to work on

MK7 is fairly easy to work on TBH. Just did engine mounts today with a friend in three hours while BSing, drinking beers, not in a hurry, etc. while doing an oil change and some quick VCDS changes. I have owned some Audis that certainly are maintenance heavy and difficult but the worst thing about the MK7, complication wise, is the subframe adjustment for alignments but that can be solved. Not EK civic easy, but not difficult in the grand scheme of things with minimal special tools required. FCP Euro makes maintenance cheap as dirt if you keep it for the long haul. My MK7 has been the best car I have owned by far.
That being said, 86 for dedicated track all day. We are toying with shop car ideas right now and a K swapped 86 is high on our list.

Doesn’t that seem quite low for power, pretty sure most cars put down right around 290-305whp

The MK8’s are a substantial bump above the 7/7.5… You may be thinking of seeing numbers off a MK8…

So is GRM just another horn for 034... was going to subscribe here and get the print mag, but seeing you only promote who pays you (and not being honestly objective) just getting paid by 034 makes me not want to read or watch you any more. Just blindly running a dyno with no data log is pretty telling you only care about your sponsor $$ not the community at large.
