Hello Mr. Finn, my temperature is fine and perfectly horizontal, but I just got P0125 today which points to that sensor. Once you add water (or coolant), you won't know the ratio anymore, should you use a hydrometer to confirm?
Hi, Peter. Nice video. There's another problem that can cause overheating, and that is a blown head gasket. Have you made a video on that? I know because mine was blown, and I'm in the process of putting my engine back together. I've been working on it for months, but keep having more problems. The first thing that happened was, I tried Steel Seal to fix it, but that didn't work. I replaced the head gasket and put it all back together, but the temperature went up to half way on the meter, which was higher than it ran before. It only went up about 1/3 of the way before. Then the last thing that happened was, the pin broke on the intake camshaft that turns the timing belt pulley. (I have a 1997 Toyota Corolla with a 4A-FE engine, 1.6 l.) I finally managed to extract the old pin and put in a new one. I hope it works this time. By the way, where are you from?

Adding water to a cars cooling system changes the boiling point and freezing point of the coolant which means that on a cold day the coolant could actually freeze inside of the engine or radiator, which could cause extensive damage to cooling system components. Also the boiling point is lowered when water is added into the system which means that steam could be produced if the car even starts to slightly overheat which can cause damage to the cars head gasket and other components. Yes you can add water to a cars cooling system just don't add alot. However water is alot better than screen wash which is what some cars have in their expansion tanks when they visit the Toyota dealership I work at 😂🤦♂️
hi, I recently drove my corolla altis model 02', as I drove on the expressway 5th gear at 100kph - 3k rpm,the average engine temperature increases 3 lines above the middle of the temp gauge (average temp) , then I slowly reduced my rpm to 2.5k - 80kph, and it rapidly went down to its average temperature. What may have caused this slight increased in my engine temperature?

Hey peter. Im having some trouble with my 2007 toyota corolla. Just the beginning of this year i took my car to mechanic shop and replaced the head gasket due to over heating. Also before i took the mechanic shop i decided to do change water pump, thermostat, brand new radiator and than dod a head gasket from a shop. Ok so than everything running greay foe the next few 4 momths when i took a long trip with my wife to a car show. I saw that the meter tsmp was going up at higb speed. Didnt go all the way up but went above the normal temp. And when i slowed down the temp slowly lowered back down. Now when i got to the car show i popped off the radiator cap and saw that there was no coolant so i brrwed a friend car tp go get some 50/50 coolant mix and throught it in also the reservoir was empty so i added a little bit. And the cooling fan does work as well. Ok so i filled it up on the way back home i drove under 65 mph all the way home but when i went up hills temperture started going up a little. So i pulled over again and now the resevoir looks like it over flowing. But i also noticed i had a small crack ontop the reservoir cooling fan. Can that cause it to over heat. Sorry for the long story
TheJdmstyles Hello. Thanks for good information. You live hot area and I recommend to you, that you should replace current thermostat to lower temperature thermostat. And you could also add extra fan to radiator. Also small crack on top the reservoir cooling fan should fix.
Ok peter thanx. I went ahead and buy a new reservoir cooling fan to replace the old one. I will try that first. I live in a cold area actually. It never gets hot here but when i went to the car show it was in bakersfield california and it was pretty hot at that time

+sunny cheng If your water is boiling with white foam, try flushing the cooling system first to eliminate the possibility of any additives, contaminants and/or an improper mixture of water/coolant. If that doesn't correct the problem, check your oil, does it look like chocolate milk or have a thick mocha color to it? If so, it's possible that you may have a leak or a crack in the block or head(s) causing motor oil to seep into the cooling system.

It never gets hot here but when i went to the car show it was in bakersfield california and it was pretty hot at that time
Should probably mention that you should wait until the radiator cap is cool before opening it.
Yes, good point.
You can just put cold water on it and it will cool down or you can open with a cloth
Reyan Sohail no you can’t. And you shouldn’t be telling people that.
Hey I have a 2011 Corolla and it only overheats when I turn a.c on
samual2121 roll windows down

Hi, you might need a new radiator, thermost and coolant pump
Hi peter, i had 94 toyota gli, while running in expressway temp is ok but it is increasing when i was on toll gate then when start running my car again temp decreasing again.is it normal or has a problem? TIA
Ok, you might need to replace these parts: radiatior, radiator fan and thermostat and waterpump
Ok, you might need to replace these parts: radiatior, radiator fan and thermostat and waterpump
Peter Finn you mean all of those parts ?
Start from radiator.
4y engine overheat when driving at high speed and i reduce speed to 60 goes back to normal
Did you ever figure this one out?
I over filled my coolant and now my car is starting to get hotter than usual and I don't know if this is the problem
Hi. What car you have ?
holy shit peter u need to pour the water in the radiator not clean engine with it hahahahahaaa
I have a 2001 ford Taurus and no heat, can you help Peter?
Maybe Thermostst
This is up there with one of the worsed videos I've ever seen on you tube. If I need this basic info to fix my car I would be pulling my hair out to wait threw the video to get it.
I have a Carina 5afe Engine whose Fan is not kicking at all. Help.
Thanks for comment and noted 👍😀
i have 1998 corolla and it was over heating, I changed the thermostat to a new one. The car still over heats, I checked the fans and they do turn ON. The car only over heats when going up hills on the highway. What should I check next?
Hi, change new low temp thermostat to engine and install new electric fan to radiator.
Same here it seems at a certain altitude it runs hot then goes down.
hey mine 1995 tacoma starts overheating i check radiator ist. old last owner never put atifreeze i replace radiator. thermostate. fill of antifrezze after. some. drive test on the street still overheating. then one day dont do it im drive 1 hour on streets traficc normal and still. good no overheating drive on freeway 30 mints and no overheating. but withe smoke a litle bit im gonna use bars blown headgasket. to see if fix it
Thanks for info
How to check thermostat if it's good or not?
Temp meter and boiling pan
You just wet your fan. Is that OK?
Yea don't forget to burp the system for air an add more water as needed
What if radiator water is booling with white foam coming out????
sunny cheng Hi. It is high temp coolant.
PETER FINN THE CAR DOCTOR =
--- 1.) How do you check if your radiator is blocking Air or has good Air flow, how can I test it?
2.) How do you check if the water pump is working correctly?
3.) The Radiator Fan turns ON at 210F degrees on ALL cars?
4.) Why do you have to use Distilled water and can't use House Tap water in the Radiator?
5.) Thermostat OPENS at operating temperature at 182F degrees? by squeezing the upper radiator hose you can feel if the radiator fluid is flowing and closed at 180F degrees to check if the Thermostat is working correctly?
Hello,
I have 99 Toyota Corolla and I had replace water pump, temp sensor, thermostat, relay and change coolant. The cool & hot gauges still raising to HOT but engine isnt hot and is overheating. Can you help and tell me what else, I can replace..
Thank you
You can cool and destroy your engine immediately🤣🤣🤣 do that 3x a day and call me in the morning😬
Hi I Just Replaced A Radiator on a 2001 toyota celica and its overheating . I didn't have problems with my old radiator , why does it overheat with a new one ?
Maybe your new radiator is bad or not a original part. Maybe stuck inside the radiator?
Having same problem with a 1.8 gxi corolla
Hi peter, I have the same engine, my car overheats only at high speed, the heaters are cold when I put on full, I have changed the thermostat but still have the issue please help
Peter finn thank you
😀👍
NEVER PUT WATER IN.
Dude, if water is all I have and I’m broke down, water is going in it.
Can any one tell me if there is a video to change thermostats on 2011 hylander
+Stephanie England Sorry, no info for hylander.
Thanks. well done.
Thanks ! :-)
Hi Peter, RE: follow up from yesterday advice you told me to add coolant to my radiator (7aFe engine toyota corolla 1.8 GSE ), just now i was driving a distance of 65 kms at a speed of 140 kms per hour, when i stopped i noticed the water reservoir or water container is boiling or bubbling and hot steam coming from it, why its boiling...because the water should stay in the radiator and be regulated there, what could be the problem?
Hi, it is normal and maybe you could also replace new radiator and thermostat. You radiator could be stuck !
Am following your explanation but I think to my side is the proper gasket is what am laking on 4e engine course ave check everything by all means doing the same
Thank You. :-)
Okay fine have you had a Toyota corolla problem
Wat cause a 1191 Toyota sedan to over heating

you said temperature very thoroughly, like so many times, lol!
Thanks Sir. :-)
Boss this is a stupid question but what engine can i fit my 9t corolla that will make it stronger
Lexus V8 is best like LS400
Is it going to fit on under my hood?
What about a v6 boss?
Yeah, little more Job
Sounds OK too
My 2011 avalon keeps over heating and its leaking pink antifreeze
Ok, replace new radiator and low TEMP thermost.
Thank you sir
Thanks ! Good idea. :-)
Yea my temperatura
mr peter are you from soviet union ? lithoyania? latvia ?your jub is soviet practice
Ok
everytime i press the gass mine goes up😢
Try to check the electricals of your dashboard maybe its not the engine but the grounding of the dashboard.
2006 Toyota Corolla gets hot when in park for about a couple of minutes then gos back down do you know wat it could be a fan ,relay switch, fuse???
Please check coolant level
The fan seems weak to should I replace the fan ?
Jezzo it must take you a week to do a service.
Thanks!😀👍
There is possibility that your fingers cut and you have shorter fingers 😂
Yes
Temperature gauge does not work
You need a replace sensor
HOW 2 PUT WATER IN YOUR CAR ,MO0VIE EXSALANTAY
👍
PETER FINN THE CAR DOCTOR ===
== I don't know how to test the temperature sending unit or where its at in cars. I'm not sure if the sending unit means a sensor.
1.) How do you test or what do you use to test the temperature sending unit?
2.) Can I buy a digital gauge at PEP BOYS and install it in the fuse box wires by slicing the wires to test if the analog temperature gauge in the car dash temp gauge is reading false reading measurements of the temperature?
3.) Can you make a youtube video showing how to test the car dash gauges to see if they work correctly and not reading false readings and how to test the sending units to the cars gauges?
4.) I don't know how to test the cars gas gauge, oil gauge, temperature gauge using a ohm meter or what other test tool can I use to test these gauges are working correctly and not giving false reading or not working correctly?
God bless and stay safe
I have a toyota corolla 2001, the engine overheating due to water pump failures. I stop the engine, replace the water pump.but the car don't start, the water did not go to the engine.can it be something electronic is not working,? is the engine gone?please help anyone?
Well, you might have engine failure, please open the engine.
06 corrola the temp pegged our on hot then when I killed the car it dropped halfway instead of going down to cold
Hi, your temp sensor is damaged.
+Peter Finn so the car itself didn't over heat?
Cool accent😎👍
