  • So in this part, we returned on the same day and this time we went out to 20km (40km round trip) - again, really easy. You will notice white banding on the OSD image, this is actually a defective VTX, which we changed out and sorted for part three, where we pushed even further.
    Enjoy!
    Will.

    I'm not bashing your attempts in anyway. Although it is classified as illegal in many parts of the world. I give you a thumbs up! The foam or balsa planes are no threat to commercial or personal Aircraft and would disintegrate upon contact. Although we all (All RC Pilots) push the boundaries from time to time one way or another. this is how we learn and come up with better ideas. We invent we test we fly. Good job boys and be safe from Canada!

    May I ask what you used on the Spektrum for an antenna or is there some other Tx module that you haven't mentioned in the description. EDIT: Forget it I 'm sorry I obviously misread, you are using EZuhf but I still have not seen that antenna config. Your own construct? Also I have been looking for the grey EPO SkyHunter. Any help with a source would be greatly appreciated. I am just beginning to make "Sorties" with an AXN and it is just not big enough to fit all the gear and mAh capacity to get any range and my shopping list is just nuts :-).

    Wow! Nice aircraft. Do you still have the flight video with OSD from this flight? Can you share it? I'm designing a long endurance power supply and I need some more detailed flight parameters. (Such as take off power (current), normal climb power (current-time vs altitude gain) and most impotently, minimum power for sustained level flight (and associated airspeed). If you have already determined those parameters, could you share them? If not, could you share the raw video from the flight?
    Thanks.

    Great flight guys! Got me by a mile!!! I'm running a 11x5.5 on a penguin @1080kv on 3s. 10,000 keeps her up over an hour, i'm guessing probably pretty comparable flight times I'm running a vector not a ruby. Is that a V transmit antenna you using on 1.3? I did not realize that match so well with a pepperbox!

      Finwing Penguin
      eMax 1100kv 35mm 60amp esc

      EZUHF tx module with Moxon
      EZUHF 8ch lite RMRC dipole
      800 mw Partom 1.3 tx VAS Mad Mushroom
      Partom 1.3 ghz rx VAS Crosshair antenna
      25 mw 5.8 repeater (immersionrc)
      2x Turnigy 3s 5000mah
      Dominator V2
      FrSky Taranis with Jet Fuel 2500 mah lipo for LRS.
      I think that's it on that plane, pulling about the same with a FX61 its not as efficient, but going to build a Sweepwings Behemoth within the next month or so, it's supposed to haul some serious weight and still glide like an albatross!!

    • @ericdamexican
      @ericdamexican 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Range is a lot of fun, but it's all about setting little goals for myself. I really like flying proximity with a nice fast agile wing! Ripping around trees close to the ground then tearing up one vertically, as not to hit it! It's a blast!!! Use mostly 5.8 gear for that, and good quality antennas and a little research is the key to success!!! Fly on my friends!!!

    if i had the money i would do this:
    get a my twin dream with high efficiency motors, cover as much surface area with solar cells and add a fan converted into a generator spun by magnets. plus the highest capacity batteries i could find.
    the telemetry + video feed will come through 3G Raspberry PI

    • @letsgocamping88
      @letsgocamping88 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Den Da Gamer add drag with your "generator" make motors work harder to compensate. Extra weight from the "generator".
      Video link via raspberry pi, laggy and Lower resolution than your traditional down link.
      MTD with high efficiency motor setup and stuffed full of 18650 packs like the titan flight ones should give you masses of flight time.

      skyHunter from RMRC is about $130ish and fpv gear ranges so it really depends on what you are wanting to do with the plane. fatshark goggles $500 plus modules that are around $70ish or a little screen is around $100-$250(for a pretty good one)plus Video receiver for the screen runs about $50-$85. You get what you pay for...... thus is you want to do long range FPV flights, please don't go cheap on your gear... I learned the hard way.. and ground stations run anywhere from $300- and up. then you have the antennas and antenna tracker, which is pretty pricey but well worth it. oh and dragon link for control- $335 V3 full system. Then Victor Auto-Pilot and GPS which is around $350. oh and batteries, two 10,000MaH 4S 10c : so 20,000 MaH of power will get you to where ever you want to go(with in reason LOL). two multi-star batteries are about $160 for the two... so the a roud about cost is....................................... $1770 so around $2000 you could have a great set-up and fly long range.... Hope this helps anyone. Happy Flying!!

    that's a CP antenna on your ground station and a linear polarized V antenna on your transmitter I don't get it why missmatch your antenna's like that ?

  • @camaro92026
    @camaro92026 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    why does the gs have a rvosd tracker when the plane has some other osd and you have no tracking antennas? every thing is a miss match !

    • @smoothvirus
      @smoothvirus 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      they're using a pepperbox, they have a 145 degree wide beam, you really don't need a tracker with one of those, especially when flying distance.

    What airspace did you guys fly in? Perhaps there is a market for pilots wanting to avoid colliding with these toys by using an RF jammer in the cockpit to make these things crash before hitting a passenger aircraft.

      Mick E With no disrespect, this flight can be undertaken quite legally if done properly. The problem here is that people continue to post flights like these which are unlawful and will ruin it for everyone else who attempts to achieve such milestones with unmanned aircraft while going through all the correct and legal procedure.
      Some rules for UK specific UAV operations, interestingly enough in the UK the rules seem to be quite accommodating compared to say the US where they are more strict.
      CAP 722
      Unmanned Aircraft System Operations in UK
      Airspace - Guidance
      Section 2 (Policy)
      Chapter 1 (UAS Airspace Operating Principles)
      Part 6.7
      If the System does not have an approved Detect and Avoid capability, the restrictions
      detailed below will normally be applied to UAS operations outside segregated
      airspace as part of the CAA permissions and exemptions process. The aircraft shall
      not be flown:
      • in controlled airspace, except with the permission of the appropriate ATC unit;
      • in any aerodrome traffic zone except with the permission of either the appropriate
      ATC unit or the person in charge of the aerodrome;
      • at a height exceeding 400 feet above the surface;
      • at a distance beyond the visual range of the Remote Pilot/RPA observer of the said
      aircraft, or a maximum range of 500 metres, whichever is less;
      • over or within 150 metres of any congested area of a city, town or settlement; or
      • within 50 metres of any person, vessel, vehicle or structure not under the control
      of the Remote Pilot; during take-off or landing, however, the aircraft must not be
      flown within 30 metres of any person, unless that person is under the control of
      the Remote Pilot.

      In the US you can fly for 5 miles without breaking any FAA laws.
      The CAA only allows 500 meters! That is some major difference right there.
      Also to get your 'drone license' in the UK it is mega-bucks! Something like £1000+ per year!

      Watch Ryder even if there was laws in the UK everyone would ignore them.

      TechArchive cant believe today its still to some a possibility. that said i thought we had it figured out right HAHA flat eathers are strange considering the believe to some relates to a biblical knowledge and with that said many believe there is a dome surrounding earth haha which i guess blows their minds when they try to explain meteorites. i dont understand them but oh well free minds it may benefit us in some way later. since if everyone thought the same there wouldnt be diversity in science like today. i with you though LOL dont see how ppl can devolve in this particular notion. i still have yet to hear many moving statements that would change my mind to a flat earther.

      orque123 They'll need to fly the 20km back "home", in which gives a total flight distance of 40 km.
