Chapter 6 is so depressing, the entire time, everytime you get back to camp, someone new left camp, and it ends with you and John in a standoff against the rest of the gang, realizing the dead ones and the ones who left, would all side with Arthur no questions asked. You spend the entire time thinking ''Damn do i miss goofing around in chapter 2, getting back to camp and everyone being happy like ''Hey Arthur! :D''

i was so sad seeing everyone at camp lose hope and just leave. It really had me missing everyone. then to see bill, javier, and dutch turn on arthur, his lifelong friend that he knew for 20 years...

@@arthurmorgan5735 Keep it in your off hand holster my boy. It’s got enough range to keep you covered if you don’t have a repeater. Keep a cattleman or a double action revolver as your primary though. I think you’ve worked hard enough recently, why don’t you take a few days for yourself? Some rest and relaxation my boy.
I think one thing that broke me most about red dead is that loveable characters like Arthur or John are nothing more than criminals from an outsiders prospective.
I think the thing about Arthur and John is that they know they are criminals. Doesn't take an outsider to see the Blackwater massacre and see them as monsters. Others like Bill and Javier and especially Dutch try to justify their evil actions, but not John and Arthur. They both always refer to themselves as bad or crazy men, and make evey indication that they don't want to be anymore. That's why they're lovable and that's why ultimately they're the only ones to get any redemption. Bill gets put down like a dog in Mexico, Javier is probably hanged, and Dutch the egomaniac has the most painfully ironic death of all, after running for so long, justifying himself as right even in the face of his own actions, he gives up and takes his own life. Arthur and John are the only ones who were able to leave the world in peace, knowing that their death was to save others and that while the debt of their sins can never be repaid they did their best to recompense and reconcile.
I want at least 10 more hours of gameplay where John and Arthur got closer. To me it seemed as though they went from low-key hating each other to being brothers. Always felt weird. But not even that aspect made this absolute masterpiece even a tiny bit less amazing.
arthur wanted to make a life for john as he had a family and they werent really close like brothers but arthur was trying to help and because of the sacrifice arthur made john treated arthur like a brother
I agreed with this on my first run, though I'm doing all of the extra tiny things in camp that involved John on my second run. The progression is there. Not as much as some would want, myself included but it is there
You do know there's more to this gang than when they start off in the mountains, right? The story starts with John lost and Arthur complaining that he's the one that has to go save his ass. All of the dialogue up until Dutch starting to completely lose it is, all the implication for what went wrong in Blackwater, this is just more and more backstory that connects the entire gang together, not just Arthur and John. Arthur is loyal. Loyal to Dutch, loyal to the gang, even loyal to those in the gang that annoy him. He saves John, he saves Sean, he even saves Micah. That's what he does. It's loyalty. When he starts questioning that loyalty, that is when he sees where his true loyalty should lie.
Arthur couldn't stand John because he left the gang before rdr 2. And he resented him for it. But they were always brothers. And when Arthur got sick, and saw John finally grow up and act like a decent husband and father to his family, he realized that all the loyalty to the gang meant nothing compared to the loyalty John had to his family. So he let all the anger and resentment go, and helped his brother make it out alive.
