Hey Rob, not just the wannabes...... I've played in bands for over 50 years....self taught,ya know the good old days of having to listen to the record and work it out ! or at least give it your best shot, Never had a lesson but if I ever wanted one it'd have to be you... your patience and style and wonderful explanations are to be complimented. I've come across many a guitarist who won't even tell you what key it's in, never mind try to help and encourage. truely inspirational mate...when you think of the pleasure playing the guitar, however good or bad, for others or just for your own enjoyment, is... it's a wonderful thing. Long may you reign and keep on keeping on Big hugs Brother All the best from sunny North wales
Hi Rob, another superb lesson, your style deliverance and technique for both starters and seasoned players is spot on. Any chance of a separate lesson for the solo please?
Thanks Rob, really appreciate the time you spend putting these tutorials together. If you do get chance it would be good to watch a lesson on the lead part. Best wishes Ian
Hi Rob, absoloutely fantastic lessons thank you so much! I’ve just in the last 2 days I’ve learnt this song , could you possibly do another lesson on the instrumental part as I’d really love to learn that as I’m sure many others would too. It’s so kind of you to give your time to providing such amazing lessons for free and it is much appreciated.
First class job Rob, I been a Bolan fan for 48 years and that's the best version I've heard from a solo guitarist. Its also a great rockabilly song too so no glam boots needed, winkle pickers or creepers will do. Interestingly just Marc on lead and vocals and Mickey Finn was on bass especially on Top of the Pops just two of them so they were still Tyrannosaurus Rex the name had been shortened to T.Rex weeks later and Bill Legend the drummer and Steve Currie the bass player joined later by the time Hot Love came out.
Great tune you have to love T.Rex. Just want to say thanks for the free chord sheets and the work you've put in to make them easily understandable. Much appreciated
Hi Rob, I have just picked up my Guitar again, after along time and your video have inspired me to get a tune out of it! 63 so T Rex is from my youth and enjoyed their Music I hope I can master this.
Tony played bass on the Bowie album the man who sold the world. Fantastic bass player after him it was Trevor Boulder. Also excellent bassist. Great content Rob 👍🏻
Owdoo Rob, seen ya live loads down the years with ya brother & brothers! But most of all, at Gorsedale school as Buster, being introduced by Mr Bugden(our great music teacher)after a tour in Japan if my mind still serves me well! Great memories for me that mate! Still loving the ballad of William Huskisson! Local legend! 🍻
Hi Rob, Excellent lesson! Any chance of getting a tutorial on the solo? I saw the trailer you did about three years ago where you played the riff and solo combined but I couldn't find an actual tutorial with paperwork showing how it's done. Cheers 🎸
Great tutorial, Rob. You are so right in regards to sounding like the record. I am really looking forward to the solo tutorial as it is, in my opinion, genius. It is short, simplistic, but one of my favourite guitar solos.
Bloody hell if I can learn this, I'll genuinely die happy. Got a feeling I'll be watching this a lot, might take a few months, but seems like the best tutor I'v found for this style, I've tried & find the thumb/finger alternate picking really difficult. I can do a bit, but aspire to this sound.
Thanks Rob, yet again to bring us an iconic tune broken down into bite sized morsels. . Love what you do for us wannabe players, simple easy to follow lessons and notes delivered without fuss or drama...
🎉🎉Squeaky chair 😱😱 Good morning I have just watched yoir fabulous tutorial 'Johnny Be Good' from 3 years ago Where you apologised for your squeaky chair, as you have on the is tutorial I have now become obsessed with watching your videos... Just to hear you mention Your squeaky chair Which is now Fam Famous 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🎉🎉😂😂😂😂😂😂
Please add the solo. I'd like to get back into a little guitar with all the pleasure I used to get. Haven't played in abt 40 years. Used to play country and western in 1967 in a club in Soho London. Stayed there for 13 months.
@@TheFairway8 I thought the other way round. Solo is the hard part due to the constant bass notes at the same time. Anyone going to post the solo? I asked Rob but no reply as the Beatles say.
Great lesson. Thanks for doing it on classical. I have an old classical guitar which I also use for pop songs and as you say, this one works really well on it.
Thank you so much for this. Now I can't stop playing it ! As the others have said is there any chance of you doing the solo. I've got some of it..but not all of it ?
This is excellent Rob, my all time hero Marc Bolan. I have a request for you to add to the thousands of others you probably have, Status Quo - 'In My Chair' ?
Hey Rob, been playing guitar for about 9 years and never really learned all the notes on the fretboard , except for the e and a strings. In your opinion do you think it’s necessary to know all the notes on the fretboard? Thanks Rob, and I love all of your lessons as well as your witty humor🍻😁
Hi Rob, thanks for this tutorial as I love this song, but here's the. BUT. When you play it it sounds great but I may be being thick, I thought notes in brackets were played together and with the hammer on? It seems you play the hammer on first and then the 6 string, am I missing something. The way I'm reading the score is At the start I would play the open 4th and then the 6th and 4th together with the hammer on and so on. I want to play this well, obviously after its in the muscle memory kicks in it will be fine . I can follow the video but in my mind can't make it follow the score. This isn't a criticism, I just like to get things right. Cheers pal. 👍🎸
Rob, my apologies I've sorted it now, it's just the open 6th string was throwing me as the hammer on is played before it. Keep up the great work . I'm now working my way through it. 👍🎸
Rob- I just watched your “Lennon’s Banjo” play posted on your site here 4 years ago. It’s good and fun, credit to Eric Potts and all the other actors for the roles they played. And that “Vito” ring tone of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s hit fit right in with your recent tutorial. Kudos! th-cam.com/video/e9_j2udixT0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=5l1fK4qKUOH3nupx
Sorry this is driving me crazy. When you play the 6 & 2 with the hammer on you are not actually playing them at the same time as you suggested early in the tutorial, but you are playing the bass note a split second after the hammer on right? Or is it all just happening too quickly and in fact you plucking both the 6 and 2nd string at the same time and then hammering on the 2nd?
That’s correct. You hit the bass sting as the second string hammers on. Same with every other hammer on in the song. The bass string plays as the hammer on hits the string. Have a look at the video again, it explains it in some detail. 👍🏻

Brilliant Rob. I discovered your channel recently and it's helped me immensely as a 66yo beginner. Please show us the solo part.

Ride a White Swan was the first record I ever purchased as a teenager. Second was Montego Bay. Happy days 👍

Hi Rob, after a week I can play this! And it's so cool! Thank you for the lesson and for making it so much fun!
Cool 😎 . I like T - Rex and his music. Particularly this song. It has a great guitar riff.

Yep, Trevor Bolder was an excellent player. His playing on John I’m Only Dancing is spot on.

Please add the solo. I'd like to get back into a little guitar with all the pleasure I used to get. Haven't played in abt 40 years. Used to play country and western in 1967 in a club in Soho London. Stayed there for 13 months.
To be fair I’m a very intermediate guitarist the solo is very easy to play the rhythm is probably a bit more difficult because of the timing
@@TheFairway8 I thought the other way round. Solo is the hard part due to the constant bass notes at the same time. Anyone going to post the solo? I asked Rob but no reply as the Beatles say.
So awesome Rob
Great lesson. Thanks for doing it on classical. I have an old classical guitar which I also use for pop songs and as you say, this one works really well on it.

Hi I was wondering if you have ever made a how to play video for “Willy the Wandering Gypsy and Me” by Waylon Jennings?
Classic
This is excellent Rob, my all time hero Marc Bolan. I have a request for you to add to the thousands of others you probably have, Status Quo - 'In My Chair' ?
Nice one la, 🔥

Stephen Graham has aged. Lol. Sounds good mate.

No! You need to know the notes along the E and A, simply for barre chord positioning. 👍🏻😎

I did a taster for it a while back. Didn’t have the new paperwork though.

What about having a go at Baker's street by Gerry Rafferty. Just a thought.
Please add the solo 🙏 the song is no good without the solo!
Love the lessons rob,but please stop using guitars with no fret markers, makes it so hard to follow, thanks
