When I was in hospital close to death with Covid this kept going through my head when I needed something to keep my spirits up. I had other motivations (mainly my kids) to keep alive beyond this song, but it seemed to match the surreal nature of my day to day existence at the time and without question played a part in my recovery.
Ride it on out like a bird in the sky ways Ride it on out like you were a bird Fly it all out like an eagle in a sunbeam Ride it on out like you were a bird Wear a tall hat like a druid in the old days Wear a tall hat and a tatooed gown Ride a white swan like the people of the Beltane Wear your hair long, babe you can't go wrong Catch a bright star and a place it on your fore-head Say a few spells and baby, there you go Take a black cat and sit it on your shoulder And in the morning you'll know all you know, oh Wear a tall hat like a druid in the old days Wear a tall hat and a tatooed gown Ride a white swan like the people of the Beltane Wear your hair long, babe you can't go wrong Da-da-da-di-di-da, da-da-da-di-di-da ...
Marc Bolan était un immense auteur et a influencé une grande partie de la pop anglaise. Il faut dire que lorsqu'on crée un tel morceau, il ne peut pas en être autrement !
Totally unbelievable how good he was....Utterly brilliant ! It seems here he lost the sync completely , yet this was a completely live capture from a Paris concert. Only with the studio track behind this...
Saw T.Rex at the Hollywood Palladium twice, first on the Electric Warrior tour and next on the Slider tour. Marc was a force of nature and every song sounded great. He was at his best at this point, but he was always good to the very end. Very fond memories!
Just finding out about T Rex. My era was the 80's. Did not realise how big they were. T Rex's peak 3-4 years for singles were more impressive than Duran Duran's, who were the 80's big guns.
@@adamcollins915 Fair comment. I was a big fan but began to lose interest from late 1974. You can see those Marc episodes on YT but I don't think his TV shows would have been anything long term, tbh.
When was this broadcast? T.Rex were on TOTP late 70 and early 71 with this song (before Bill Legend joined). Totally brilliant piece of minimal rock'n'roll.
This recording sounds just like the 45 did when we used to slip on the ld turntable at parties...crisp clean and the occasional leap as we jammed around the floor...bring back those days simple and fun.
Genius.. Elton John, the Edge and many others regard Bolan as more influential than Bowie, and he promoted many early punk bands by having them support his tours.. Even the Ramones and Billy Idols first UK TV appearances were on his show..
SUBLIMINISM: Amy Simpson: “It’s your duty to be there for your daughter....No hospital bills to pay, Carl, means less hours at work means more time with me and Jess!” She had took to the privet with a chainsaw and inch by inch it was coming down. 27/1/22

Take a black cat and you sit it on your shoulder and in the morning you'll know all you know🐱
Amazing! As Eminem says, “music can alter moods and even talk to you”
Brilliant record takes me back: better than today's music RIP lovely ma ❤️ ❤
Still as good in 2021 as it was back then.
hell yeah
I was astounded when this came out, I had never heard anything like it in my life it was so different!
Now you are riding the white swan in heaven. Love you Marc!
Recorded 50 years ago today; arguably the beginning of glam rock
Remember having to trail around all the record shops trying to get hold of this! Fantastic song. A classic.
He was one talented musician.
this song puts a groove mark in your heart.....
I know all the lyrics. I was 13 then (yes I'm showing off) love t rex. 🤗🤗🤗
Wear a tall hat like a Druid in the old days...
There is a beautiful bench in the grounds of Golders green crematorium made in the shape of a swan dedicated to Mark, I see it often on my walks. ❤💋
Yes I have seen it. Very beautiful! RIP Marc!
I remember his funeral being on the news; there was a beautiful white swan made out of roses.
First album I ever bought, when I was 10 in 1970, WH Smiths, Wimbledon Station Branch
Hello Leon, l bought the single in a record shop in Mitcham and still have it. Retired from HMRC 17 months ago.

Yes exactly, I was just thinking the same...
Id like to think him and David are somewhere out in the cosmos jamming on their guitars.

Always loved Marc Bolan who sadly died far too young.

He did have his own TV show. So may have continued with that.

Duran Duran - 80's big guns? Surely you mean Tenpole Tudor?
Times where the music was the music.
Marc Bolan paid the ultimate price.....and the world lost out on something special......
Every night I go out I always ask the DJ for this song! 🎶💕
We lost mark far too early..he was a one off for certain.🎸❤

The fact that the lyrics of Ride a White Swan make more sense than most of Bolan's lyrics is saying something.

Geez, Marc Bolan had a massive Eddie Cochran influence.
