21st entry of my semi-daily practice of drone sketches using the Make Noise 0-Coast semi-modular synthesizer.
Signal is sent to Reaper with a single Line 6 "Simple Delay" with a 4-second delay time going into Line 6's "Particle Verb" reverb.
    PATCH NOTES
    Patch:
Midi CV (as LFO) split to LinFM and Multiply CV control
    Clock Out to Contour Gate
Maths Voltage to Dynamics CV (for "drone mode")
VCO Square Out to Slope Trigger In
    Slope Out to Balance In
Contour Out to Overtone CV In
The study here is on the 0-Coast's ability to generate subharmonics (or "undertones") that exist next to a fundamental. An LFO gently provides modulation of the pitch as well as the Multiply circuit to add complexity. The Contour is triggered by a slow Clock and modulates the Overtones.
Recorded with a PreSonus AudioBox 22VSL. Shot on a Google Pixel 8.

Love this. Really curious about adding an 0-coast to my own setup. Sounds amazing.

Thanks! It's a wild synthesizer that continues to surprise me.
That said, my first impressions of it were pretty rough. The harmonic/timbre options can be very piercing and spikey. And then upon returning to it after playing with more subtractive synths, I was once again challenged by its higher harmonic content. I recommend pairing it with a filter to get used to it. Also, especially for ambient/drone stuff, some delay and reverb really makes a difference in providing space for those harmonics to not be so in-your-face.

That makes sense. I had a Strega for a while and had a bit of a similar experience. Definitely a steep learning curve to get the most out of it but I love how it encourages exploration. I sold it a few months back and wish I hadn’t, haha. MN stuff is always great though. I use my Spectraphon all the time.
