    Talk about a nearly lost art! The truckers are lucky to have someone who still knows how to do this in our “throw it away, it’s disposable” world.

    This kind of work is becoming a lost art.
    Ive seen my uncle do similar things with 4 wheeler body work. Floor anchors, chains and come alongs, nothing hydraulic.
    Being the son of a heavy duty shop owner, and a driver myself. I have some extra appreciation for these video's.
    To see this work done, and explained as well as it is, is a real treat.
    One of the cooler things about these videos, is that they're like a cheat sheet, if you ever encounter any of these problems.
    If you do your own work, its a lil heads up on what to expect, and some pointers.
    If you bring it into a shop to get work done, then you're aware of the processes.
    And know what good work, and good results look like, via Devin's videos.

    Check this out: Nobody likes the newer semi trucks. They're all going fully digital dash, auto transmissions, automatic panic braking, lane-departure warning systems, and last but not least: a dozen pointless "environmental" or "green" technologies and sensors that screw up every few years, don't work in cold weather, and take FOREVER to repair (because you have to wait for electronics parts from China). As a result, truckers want the older trucks (pre-2016 semi trucks). That's why the used truck values of pre-2016 trucks has skyrocketed and keeps going up. That means that more and more and more people are going to be interested in fixing their trucks rather than writing them off and replacing them with a stupid new truck. And that means our buddy Bendon here's future as a semi truck frame shop is looking very bright indeed. If he doesn't already, he will have more work than he knows what to do with and then there'll be room for more frame shops to open up, and together we'll just keep our favorite trucks going FOREVER.

    • @virtueofhate1778
      @virtueofhate1778 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nothing wrong with new semi trucks. They are more comfortable, more economic, more powerfull and work fine from tropic to arctic weather... as long as they are not made in America. It just happens that the quality of American truck manufacturing is shite and the trucks are technologically a decade or two behind the rest of the world and still the prices of the new trucks are at a ridiculous level.

    • @r0ckworthy

    • @virtueofhate1778
      @virtueofhate1778 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@r0ckworthy Scania, Volvo (Europe), Mercedes-Benz, MAN, Renault, Iveco, Daf and propably some Chinese companies are already ahead Americans. And the funny thing is that all American truck companies are connected to European truck companies. Volvo America and Mack are owned by Volvo, International is owned by Volkswagen, Freightliner and WS are owned by Daimler (Mercedes-Benz), Paccar owns Daf, Ford builds S-Max semis for European market in Turkey, but still all new things come to America a decade if not more later and some seem to never come there.

    • @r0ckworthy
      @r0ckworthy 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@virtueofhate1778 I'm no fan of cheap American crap, in the 1970's through 1990's American vehicles of all sorts were just pathetic, worthless, unreliable trash. Most Made-In-USA stuff is really good quality but automobiles made during that period are cheap garbage. That said, Peterbuilt and Kenworth semi trucks from the 1980's up through the mid-2010's are very well made, very heavy duty, and are cheap to repair too. The engines and transmissions in particular are incredible and will go a million miles usually between rebuilds.
      All those brands you mentioned aren't even available to buy in the US except for Volvo. I've driven many different brands of US semis and the Volvos are not any more advanced than an entry-level American truck. They aren't any more reliable, the interiors are just as full of plastic components that wear out, etc. But I don't know what features you want from a semi truck that puts it "a decade or two ahead." What features could possibly make that much of a difference? I can't stand the "new features" of semi trucks. Stupid features that don't make any sense but when they break they are expensive and time-consuming to fix. Sensor problems for one thing. The need for using DEF fluid. Shit, the Freightliner (owned by Mercedes-Benz, like you said) that I drive every day does this fantastic thing if the road is wet, every so often the wetness on the road throws off the panic-brake "safety feature" because the truck thinks you're about to hit something!!!!! What the hell is that??? This is incredibly dangerous on an icy road, of course, and the driver is going to be blamed for this happening, of course. This is feature part of what you think is awesome about new trucks?

    • @virtueofhate1778
      @virtueofhate1778 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@r0ckworthy There for sure are a lot of great quality stuff made in USA, but it seems like you get stuck on your tracks in some line of business and in my opinion truck building is one of those. I have no doupt that older Petes and Kenworths are well made and rugged machines, but at least this side of the bond where a gallon of diesel costs $7 it would not be feasible to operate commercially such trucks and drivers here want more comfort than those can offer.
      And yes, I know non of those brands are available in the US and that is because it is basically impossible to import a commercial vehicle to US unless it's over 25 years old and whole US truck market is protected from foreign influence and competition. And as we know, lack of competition leads to stagnation. Yes, there is Volvo, but it's still mostly White with Volvo badge on it and they build trucks according to the US standards and very differently from their European trucks. When they announced their new VNL 2024, everything new in it was already in previous gen FH model in Europe.
      And the features, I might be wrong on some of these but lets see.
      -ABS brakes have been standard for 3 decades on semi tracktors, semi trailers, prime movers, full trailers and it's extremely rare to see jack knifed semi in Europe.
      -Air ride on everything, all axels, trailer, cabin and seats. Also been standard for 3 decades. Makes it easy to shift the load between the axels, easier to connect to a trailer and much more comfortable. It is also nice see all axel weights, tractor weight and trailer weight on a one screen.
      -Auxiliary cabin heaters and coolers. Idling your truck every night and wasting thousand of dollars every year feels just mental when you can just flip a switch and sleep in silence. Idling a truck has been actually illegal since 90's.
      -Lift axels. Every semi or rigid/prime mover that have more than 2 axels have lift axel(s) to save tires and diesel and have been atleast 4 decades. Makes it also much more nimble when running empty. Nowadays even most trailers have lift axels.
      -24V electric system. It just makes more sense.
      -Not just 6x4's. I just don't understand why almost every single semi in USA is a 6x4, even though you have a low weight limit for semis. In Europe it is common to see 4x2, 6x2, 6x4, 6x2/2, 6x2/4 semis and sometimes 4x4 and 6x6 too. 4x2 is the standard work horse in continental Europe and 6x2 in the Nordic countries where they have to deal with snow.
      And what comes to DEF, or AD-Blue as it's called here, it's a covernment mandate and there is nothing you can do about it. In here it is even mandated on diesel passenger cars and the car stops running if it runs out of it. ;D

      See this is what is the probelm... finding the younger generation with a good set of parents... it's not up to the kids to make the right decisions... it's up to the parents... parents are always the downfall. The younger generations lack guidance and positive motivation. Can't put the blame on the upcoming generations without looking at the generation that raised them.
