Hey man, I’m in a trade school learning to become a diesel tech. I’m 17 and I passed my entry level ASE for T5 steering and suspension. I took my professional ASE test on 12/13 and missed passing by 2 points( Needed a 34/50 and I had a 32/50) this has helped me understand rear axel and frame diagnosis and repair as I struggled with that on my professional T5. I’ll be taking the professional again in January, wish me luck, and again thank you for helping me understand. Respect from central Florida.

I appreciate your skill. I installed dump bodies for years and most good mechanics don't have the skills to do what you do. Taking pride in not getting people on the hwy hurt is something most miss. You have my little approval for what it's worth.
I love all the history/background to all these things, Devon. More of this please. Don't change things too much. You are great as is. Fascinating and amusing and entertaining!
Love what you are doing .Great to see how things are done on trucks .I used to do car collision work so is interesting how big equipment is done. Keep on bendin, Cheers from Australia.
Frenchmen named Perrot designed first air operated brakes, originally designed for trains. Westinghouse saw that brakes at Paris word fair and purchased patent rights, that is now WABCO. French also defined hydraulic (Pascal), and have builded many first hydraulic systems, like hydraulic recuperator, hydraulic elevator....
I used to work at what is now the only truck spring and suspension repair shop in the Winston Salem NC area back in the 80s. They had a couple Bee Line frame machines made in the 50s and 60s but no one that knew how to use them other than to do front end alignments. Its cool to see how it works
one thing i have said my whole life as a mechanic. you know what you tell a mechanic dancing and singing in the shop? not a damn thing. he loves what he does!!!!
I kinda wish you could help me figure out my pick up. I'm told I have a bent frame .. I'm so sure the person before me got the tie rod end spin count backwards .. leaving me with cockeyes steering wheel(because as far as I can remember that's all keyed. While back , I saw why I was getting a shake at 65 i'm on the inside of my tire.. so i'll likely be wrenching on it this weekend :/
@@johnmickelson824 perhaps, truck needs to go to the shop to get diagnosed. Shitty thing is it does not do this unless you load the front end. Today I figured out that if I backed under a trailer and put some pressure on the 5th wheel and then dry steered back and forth I could make the popping noise without moving the truck. Noise is coming from under the steering box at the front of the leaf spring.
What causes shimmy or a off/on bounce? It seems to change with road surface from concrete to asphalt. Drive tire wear is excellent and it’s felt mainly in the seat. Don’t seem to come up through the steering column. Truck has a junk Holland fifth wheel with rubber bushings that have a ton of slop even when new. Steer tire wear is really good and all the shocks are just over 2years old. Can’t see any obvious wear on torque rod bushings or spring bushings. No slop on the steering wheel axle ends. Western Star 5700XE Airliner suspension.
Did you square the first drive axle to the frame? Make sure distance from wheel to frame is the same on both side. Make sure rear drive axle is the same rim to frame then align rear drive axle to first drive axle. This is the way we doit at Ryder. Maybe it’s a step I didn’t see you do. Still like your videos
If you ever have one of these that come apart real nice because the last guy cleaned all the threads and used anti-seize... you're welcome. LOL! I wanted to know what you are using to spread the axle? Just an air jack?
@@Failure_Is_An_Option you’re attempting to establish centerline of rear axle. Outer circumference of bent wheel or out of round tire is not on that centerline
How come I've taken my company truck to 3 different shops and they all say the alignment is fine when it shimmies all over the lane and pulls hard right? They hook it up to a computer and press a button. No old school tools are used. But I can see the tram is 3/16s off _with a damn tape measure._ About to buy all the tools and do it myself, this is ridiculous.
You’ll do a hell of a lot more damage lugging & pinging it at low rpm than you’ll ever do from spinning it to 2200. Pumps, compressors, earthmoving equipment, tractors, ships, and tons of other industries use the same engines that commercial trucks use and spin them at governed speed for hours, days, or weeks on end without issue.

I miss that radio station. For years I was there for 3 days a week. Retired now. Keep up doing the good work brother!!
What's the call letters to the Radio Station
Jackson Mississippi had WZZQ 102.9 (now it's called WMSI MISS 103)

Those Westlake Chinese rags are going to cup out no matter what 😂
Great explanation of the suspension system and how to check and adjust. Live that radio station, music I grew up with, I’m 62.
Great tunes in that shop
I will contact the Stone Coyotes and see if they will give him rights to play their music. They Rock.
You make me want to twist a frame just so I can come to your shop. Great content. The history lesson was cool too. 👍
I love a straight steering wheel!
Liked the history lesson. Good additiion
Bendon 2024 🇺🇸 “America could use a three axle alignment!” 👍💪😎🇺🇸

Thank you so much for covering a little bit of the history of air suspension. I'm glad I learned a little more about it.
Ya gotta have the tape!
Great history lesson.
Oui, Oui!

Appreciate the opportunity to learn good buddy! Definitely digging the new format 👌 👍 You be jammin mane! Chirping gears and pulling broadies!
This one of the best tutorials uve done that has helped me understand what no mechanic could tell me what's happening with my tires

I enjoy your videos and learn something every time, so anything you get time to video is fine with me, sorry no special ideas.
With Bendon, we learn history, we learn material properties, we learn mechanical procesess, wha's not to love?
The step was funny coming down. I enjoyed the work and explaining
I've used a BeeLine tandem aligner more times than I care to remember, nice job on the tutorial....
And that's why i like the new 8 bag
Excellent job hoss.. 👍

Great video and Amazing tunes!

what radio station is that? are they on I heart radio? great vids, keep em comming
I love the music in y’all’s shop
I was an alignment tech, Hunter certified in Houston! But I never did anything like this, so I applaud you!
Keep dropping vidoes mate. Ur a master of ur craft. Respect from australia 🇦🇺 👊

I just shipped a new press last week. Awesome equipment!😅
What bands were playing on the box....I couldn't hear it because of your air leak! :)

Thanks buddy...

Bend’em to the right, twist’em to the left, torque’em to town and back and send’em down the road true. Don’t matter the weight limit. You be you.

the mullet just seals it in. you aint never gonna have somebody as cool touch your truck!

Do a video showing how to diagnose front spring hanger issues. I am currently having a popping noise coming from my steer axle in turns.
Probably your shackle pin bushings

Pin bushings. Does it do it in rainy weather? Pins have grease fittings?

Id love to know why following an alighment the steering wheel might be crooked. Have driven a number of trucks with this done.
Because after performing a wheel alignment, the tech is supposed to center the steering wheel
Idea on video. Threaded leaf and hanger pins/bushings (Paccar, Volvo), what is acceptable amount of play. Brand new they have movement. Thanks.
