Is nobody else worried about Corbin Burnes 3.70 FIP the last 2 years? His k rate has drastically declined every year since 2020 as well. Anybody signing him to a 7+ year high AAV deal expecting him to be a Gerrit Cole type of ace is going to be very disappointed.
I'm the opposite of worried, and believe the Orioles absolutely _must_ bring him back. They went after him prior to this season to make a strong run at the World Series, and were snakebitten by injuries to many key players or they likely would be playing the Dodgers right now. Burnes certainly kept up his end of the bargain, going 15-9. 2.92 ERA, 181 Ks, 1.096 WHIP. an All-Star start, and plenty of Cy Young votes to come (no, he won't win it, but he'll be close). His 15 victories is the most he's had in any year, even more than his Cy Young season and he may have flirted with 20 wins had it not been for a sub-par August. The Reds once gave up on a very good player who had just turned 30 (they said he was an "old" 30), and traded him to the Orioles before the 1966 season. That player was Frank Robinson, and all he did that year was win the American League MVP and Triple Crown, while leading his new team to a sweep of the Dodgers in the WS. I am very confident that anything indicating Corbin is no longer an ace isn't to be taken seriously (his velo was still fine, and he said he purposely went more for weak contact than strikeouts to pitch deeper into games & achieved that goal). Like with Frank (and Mark Twain), reports of his demise are greatly exaggerated.
@@Galantski idk how I'd feel about giving him a monster contract. He's more of a pitch to contact guy now. If Bradish was healthy I'd say let Burnes go, but right now we don't have an ace. GRod is fine and Eflin is good, but the rotation is lacking talent at the front. I'd rather give Snell a 3-4 year deal than Burnes a 7-8 year deal though. I really hope they don't give Santander $100+ mil. Let somebody else make that mistake. He's a good power hitter, but he doesn't hit for average, doesn't get on base, doesn't run the bases well and is mediocre at best defensively.
As a Giants fan would like to see Snell come back… But what’s going to be more interesting is to see how Buster Posey handles being in the shark pit as a rookie president of baseball operations. What is clear is Blake Snell does need to sign early… Whoever gets him needs to hire a trainer to live with him make sure he does his stretching exercises during the off-season. Then send a private jet or a limousine to get him to spring training the minute it starts. I don’t care how much money he gets… But I don’t wanna see him use up half a baseball season getting in shape so he could be good in late July.
Any player who doesn't keep himself in shape during the off-season, doesn't show up to spring training on time, and isn't ready on opening day is not a player I want on my team. I don't care how talented he is. It shows he is not a team player.
Conforto is an interesting free agent. He had a 113 wrc+ in san Fran with really good batted ball data, but his defence is terrible. Probably a good 1 year deal for a lot of teams
Could you upload a video explaining the offseason dates? If the season ends today, when does free agency and the trade market start? Team and player options, QO... everything related to the offseason?
Hi, I don't think I heard you comment to much if at all on qualifying offers. Won't this also impact who will prioritize signing those players over others?
Mets have a ton of money coming off the books and Luxury tax number. They should resign Alonso and keep Vientos at 3rd. Otherwise you’d move vientos to 1st and have to sign a Bregman type. Extend QO to Manea (he’ll decline) same with Severino. Soto would be great but I think there better off signing a power outfielder instead and saving a ton of money to spend elsewhere. Also try to trade McNeil. Marte should be 4th outfielder/DH for his last year under contract. DH spot will hopefully keep him healthy
@willman43 True, that was a trade I never understood. Yanks never envision AJudge to be this great. I hate to see them bringing players to the right field. Judge should have had at least 2 gold gloves playing the right field. I don't think Soto will sign with the Yankees.. They will throw a low ball offer he will easily reject..hope Boras don't drag him past Xmas..
The Dodgers will only be involved with Soto to jack up the price. Soto is NOT a Dodger type of player. He's obnoxious, self-absorbed and lazy everywhere on the field except the the batters box.
Don’t rule out the Nationals on Soto. They have over $150M/year to spend just to get to the Luxury tax threshold, they can easily splash 40-42M/year on Soto and then go for Burns and other players. And Soto already knows DC well and has stated even after leaving he loved DC.
I don't feel bad for any of these overpaid athletes when they turn down a big contract and wait to get more money only to not be good and get stuck and smaller contract for much less money. I find it humorous, actually.

Alanso may be on outside with no contract offers, assume NY Mets offer qualifying offer and Mets will get 1st draft pick.
He should be out at that price. One tool player. A very good tool to be sure but he's not worth what Boras will be asking...
Mets are going to resign Alonzo
Could you upload a video explaining the offseason dates? If the season ends today, when does free agency and the trade market start? Team and player options, QO... everything related to the offseason?
Supposably free agency starts as soon as the the World Series ends
Id love to take a shot on Conforto as a jays fan, should be room for him too
Hi, I don't think I heard you comment to much if at all on qualifying offers. Won't this also impact who will prioritize signing those players over others?
Through this WS I realized Soto is a defensive liability. 600M is reserved for those who play both sides at elite levels.
Totally agree about Kikuchi. Its probably 3 years 45 to 55 million
I wonder if the Mets will bid high on Soto and also pay Alonso. They should do both.
Soto is going to Philly
@@jerrypedrick6206I’m sorry Soto is not going to Philly 😂
@@jerrypedrick6206Phillies already have too many aging contracts.
How accurate is spotrac usually with the yrs when they project a deal
If I was Soto I'd tried to maxx out on a 3-5 yr deal in the AAV so I can be on the market again at 28-30 yrs old again
Soto will be a Yankee for the rest of his career.

I do think the Mets end up paying Alonso that money but I don't see that contract aging well due to his skill set
That means late signings again when you're a Borass client
I doubt Boras does it again. He'll probably learn from his mistakes. Hopefully
Bergman ends up a Yankee on a 1 year prove it deal
Would love the Mets to get Profar.
Soto reuniting with Harp in Philly
Soto won’t get $600m
If anyone pays him that its the Mets. I don't think Yankees or Dodgers will bid that high.
Yankees. 10 yrs 500 million
@willman43 bahhhh they never paid Machado or Harper, they will not paid Soto fact.
@@lidisi2219 We signed Stanton instead of Harper.

I mean, the Dodgers did have Manny Machado not that long ago
@@thekingofpingas For 1/2 a season only, and they quickly decided he wasn't a fit and they didn't even talk to him after he filed for free agency.

I would like Profar to go to the Yankees. He would be a good second baseman/outfielder.
The problem is if cashman and Hal want to spend to upgrade the team this offseason...

Is Boras a BILLIONAIRE yet ?
Soto won’t get a 600 million deal. He stays with the Yankees.
None of his clients got the big money last off season
Profar left boras group last year.
I see….looks like a trim & a thumbnail edit is coming
Thank you for pointing that out so I could change & remove that.

Bergman to Detroit
Burnes to Cubs
Nice
Bergman to the Marlins
Burns won't get a deal done until ST, and he'll only get a 2 year deal, and be back to the Orioles
Spotrac’s contract values are dated and terrible
You are crazy. Why would Bellinger leave almost 100 million on the table?
He’s not going to get it.
Well Gor starters he's not the player he was.
If the Cubs can get Belli off the books for 2.5 million I'd pay that quick. He's overpaid currently.
