- Some time ago my DBforgoods channel was deleted for violating copyright. As most of the videos had no problems, I decided to repost some that I haven't seen around. Many of them were extracted from episodes of the Old Grey Whistle Test, posted by a You Tube channel that unfortunately no longer exists. My gratitude to the person who made these historical archives available.
I remember watching this one in tv as a kid. My two favorite bands were Parliament and the Ohio Players.

The Players played together since school days and it shows... these cats knew their craft and the level of musicianship was off the charts. For me the best to ever do it! Dayton's finest.

The Ohio players are the master of the Funk. There were NO OTHER TO COMPARE. Sugar Foot is the KING👑👑👑 of the Funk thrown.
Leroy was a real bad ass and that trademark "OWW" he used came from blues people he hung with and they would make that sound when they began a fire solo. He told me that in 71 when they came to my grandmothers fish fry right after Funky Worm hit the charts.

Love Rollercoaster is one of my favorite Ohio Players songs and they started this video with it and had the place rocking.

I missed a lot of these old shows when they came on TV back then; thank God somebody preserved them for today and put them on TH-cam, because I never got to see the Ohio Players(and a few other groups)live back then. And its another chance for us, who grew up with this music, to experience the next best thing to seeing them live(for, from what I understand, all of the acts that appeared on shows like ROCK CONCERT and MIDNIGHT EXPRESS performed their material LIVE-and not pantomime or lip-synching-and it's a great experience for me(and no doubt many of you, yes?)to go back down memory lane once again-thank you also, to "DBfor 70s" for posting these classic videos of these great artists and their music-live!
I also noticed that PEE WEE(on trumpet also)is missing from the group on this date and that MERV PIERCE is the only one playing trumpet on this show; I guess an emergency came up that didn't allow PEE WEE to be there; I still would've liked to have been in the audience when they did this show-or any other during this period. 1-24/25-23.

I was one of those kids lol my first concert was Earth Wind & Fire in 1972( I was 10 ) my mom couldn’t get a babysitter on such short notice so I went with her and my aunt

I'm so glad I got a chance to experience this era!! The weekend was the bomb for me Friday nights and Saturday nights-->Don Kirshner's rock concerts and the midnight special--->especially "wolfman jack!!!!"
