Isn't it amazing how many of their songs sound just like the recordings (i.e., Pack My Bags). Her voice was so strong with her little sexy self. She looked to have Indian in her ancestry. I knew a girl named Keetah in college that reminded me of Chaka. She had fire like her too. But there was nobody like Chaka when she came out and later on she outgrew the group but they still had a sound that will never be forgotten.

So great to have these precious, rare clips. Rare Bird, I've loved you for so long.

If anyone on that stage gave less than 200%, I couldn't tell. They gave a REAL concert and not some cheesy, lip-synced version surround by dancers.

What a band

Saw them in 1975 when I was in college. Stamp Album tour, and they were opening for Bachman Turner Overdrive. Had never heard of them before - like most of the crowd I was there to see BTO - and they absolutely blew me away. Were called back on stage for two encores - they were the opening act, mind you - and these were not the planned encores where a band doesn't play a crowd favorite in the main set. They played "Going to New York", and then seemed a bit surprised but very happy when the audience just wouldn't let them leave.

Great sets. I hadn't heard 'Two Guitar Lovers'. Quite some song.

They were definitely NOT average! The best era of music.

One of rhe greatest musicians of all time. Remember my first Dave Mason song was also on the Old Grey Whistletest, he was singing Split Coconut. Hooked ever since. Still thinking Mariposa de Oro is the absolute gem of an album. And get well soon Dave .

I thought i had seen most if not all of Rorys video and tv shows but i donr remember ever seeing this one. The vocals are high quality compared to most live recordings. Thanks for posting it.

When I was introduced to their music in New Zealand in the 70s I had no idea they were Scottish. They were an epic soul band.

Fantastic musician. Voice naturally deepened as years went by. Always a great singer and guitarist through the 25 times or so I’ve seen him in concert.

The Players put Dayton, Ohio on the map with their commercial success and other Dayton bands followed suit to success stories of their own including the Thomas Brothers from TBUniversalGroup LLC.
