Awesome video alex. So much to learn from them top lads. It will make you a better angler all round. Phwelli is a tough nut to crack. Very finiky beach, if you dont fish it regular. Well done to you an your dad for taking it on 👌🎣
As you commented the other day , the pro's are slick. They don't panic they plan and have faith in their knowledge. A zen like approach. Looking forward to day 2. 🧔 👍
High Alex good on you giving it a go if. You have got a plan stick to it eventually it will pay off plus it makes fishing more enjoyable at least you have given it a good show good luck & thanks
I fished on the monday managed a flounder and a dragonet but the crabs were relentless 🤦♂️ baits were gone in a couple of minutes 😭 looking forward to the next one tight lines
I was surprised at how small the hooks were. Does that beach only throw up tiny fish? Sorry for the question, but do any sizable fish get landed from there? Cheers for the video,I was looking forward to see how you and your Dad got on xxx😀
There were a few dogs and huss caught, but at this time of year, they're few and far between. It was one of the biggest things I learnt from fishing it last year. You could choose to sit and wait for bigger fish to come along, but there are so many smaller fish and loads of different species, that it makes sense to target them and just keep the scoreboard ticking along.
Used to match fish years ago can not understand this measuring lark its a joke. What you doing scratching around for bits of crap pwhelli used to have good catches.
I think it's one of the better ways of doing comps to be honest. You have the option, like my dad, of sitting and targeting bigger fish, or constantly bash the smaller ones. It's certainly a far better option than heaviest bag where people catch and keep all sorts just to sling them in a bin afterwards. As always just my 2p worth ✌🏽
@@theawfulangler back in the day it was two pound for a dogfish and returned unless it was a day light match were you had less dogs but my fish were always returned alive couldn't do with measuring what I would consider undersized fish and stressing them but that's the way it is 👍
Your fishing Pwllheli far too heavy it lends itself to much lighter gear true continental style 30 lb rig bodies 24'' 10 lb or less snoods all tied with fluro and size 6 circle hooks. I was fishing there myself just offshore in a boat you probably even filmed me, I caught an endless numbers of small bream.
You’ve got to be in it to win it , well done for trying so many different tactics in trying to catch
Not fished a match for 10 years . This one looks like a fun one to compete in . Great watch . Looking forward to day2.
Brilliant mate, im booked on for next year, can't wait 😊
Another informative vid, Alex. You show it warts and all, but usually efucate not only yourself, but us aswell! Thanks again!
Thank you mate. I'm sure we all want to improve so if I can help others learn from my outings even better.
@@theawfulangler I'm sure you knew I meant "educate" lol

Yeah, exactly that mate. Big lesson learnt, make a plan, stick to the plan.

At least you gave it all and tried but every session is about learning and what keeps us all going
I learnt loads, that's what keeps me going back to this match I think
Best of luck on day 2!
Thanks mate 👍🏼
There is nothing wrong with changing game plans as you move through the day, in my opinion it's how you find the golden trick
Agree, but I think I was changing things for the sake of changing things rather than for a reason if that makes sense.
@@theawfulangler sounds a little like you let it get to your head m8
Nice one Alex, you should carry a spare sun hat 😂
I used to have one but it went missing 👀
@theawfulangler if it's any consolation it's got a better home now, spends it's days out on the water 🤣
@dazlee3257 🤣 ouch!
Looking forward to day 2. Keep focused and stay to the plan. But also be prepared to make small changes 😅
I think I manage that much better on day 2...just saying 😉
Looks like you need to be down on Chesil with Wayne. He's smashing the Codling and Bream!
Discussions are already underway mate 🤫

There were quite a few dragonets caught, I thought they were a rarity. Mind you, there was also a John dory caught on day 2 😱

Thanks for vid Alex, I enjoyed it , hope you did too. Looking forward to the next one. Gd luck,
Tight lines, Take care
It was a tough day, with lots still to learn, but there's definitely worse things to be doing
Stick to the plan..Hydrate,, Hat .. stick to the plan..tomorrow is your day........
You got it 👍🏼
What’s tough about spending all day on a beach in the sunshine. Could have been a lot worse.
The weather made it tough. I never understood beach shelters in summer until that day 🥵 nowhere to hide from the sun
