Hats off gentlemen for a truly comprehensive review of an absolutely wonderful single malt. I have and enjoy this 2017 Glenmorangie Astar and wholeheartedly agree with your comments. To your health 🥃
Thank you again my friends. Inviting fellow whisky enthusiast into your pub is such a treat. I can almost nose and taste the whisky. Malcolm's wonder of how distillers/blenders can create such a liquid leads me to believe that it is as much an art as it is a skill. Imagination of what could be also doesn't hurt.
Loving the show. I'm a rum drinker, but I love watching and imaging I could do this with my rum collection one day. Also an Everton supporter. Sorry, Malcolm.
I found the Astar to be one of the tastiest GlenMo's. The ABV definitely helped. I have sadly outgrown Glenmorangie though... it Just doesnt do it for me anymore! I save mine for people who are just getting into whisky since GlenMo is great for that!
We can fully agree that the Glenmo range offers a wide variety of SMSW and as a result a whole lot of friendly whisky for those dipping their feet into the spirit pool. This one really jumped out and you are correct, in our opinion, as regards the ABV influence. In many ways what I'm hearing you say is Glenmo isn't taking the chances other distilleries are and as such winds up with a more predictable experience rather than an 'oh my' result (sometimes those chances result in 'oh no' as well). Hard to argue. Cheers!
@@TBWD I think part of it is their Spirit too, since they have such high stills it makes for a less oily and viscous liquid to start off with. Which is great if you want something unoffensive, light and sweet. No matter what they do to the spirit in the cask it wont become something as big, burly and full bodied as I like nowadays. This is coming from someone who has only had 5 or 6 of their releases. All of it is quality spirit, but I feel I've moved on from whiskies of the sort.

Company makes the dram taste better, of that we have no doubt. Yes! a marriage of art and design...'we know it's done when it's done'. Cheers mate🥃
