I heard this song from my coworker on my 3rd day working in a manufacturing company for the oil & gas industry. When I passed the interview for the job my first thought was, "I get to follow my great-grandfathers footsteps in this." I was really close to him as a child, and it made me feel even closer for 5 minutes, so this song really hit me playing from that speaker. I play it all the time now.
The slides on the guitar were just magic and so perfect. I have loved this song for a while but had not seen that particular performance. There was an artistry to the sort of minimalism they performed with. It was so efficient! Always just what was needed and never more; it gave it that haunting feel that pulled me in.
Yeah the guitar player is crazy good. There's so many killer lead players in this genre. It ain't even fair. It definitely did have a haunting vibe didn't it?
You gotta check out “Mike and the moonpies-Steak night at the prairie rose” live at the Texas country music scene. Very well written song relatable to this one.

So true about corporations don't give a F**k. They only care when you're doing for them. The moment you can't provide for them, they're done with you. It's a brutal world.
Working blue collar class people work for cooperations. Cooperations provide for his father so he can sing and you can ridicule. When a person creates a company or cooperation that offers me a chance for a job I am happy. If I can use that job to benefit my child even better.
Some corporations aren’t so bad, I work for a great place that really takes care of their employees. It’s the massive ones that are stuck in the 1980s that are an issue
They also change over time. Corporate culture can become poisoned by people who come into it with no history or recognition of the company’s history. I remember a friend telling me about his brother working his whole life for Levi Strauss. His brother got ill with cancer. When the insurance hit the $2 million lifetime maximum it would pay according to the policy the company decided they would continue to pay for treatment and care from their pocket. That sort of reciprocal loyalty is long gone now. The Gordon Gecko “greed is good” era of the late 80s and early 90s killed it. There are still businesses that believe their people are their most important asset but few of them are corporations. Remember when HR meant “Human Relations” and now it means “Human Resources”? I guess that is why it feels like they have gone from relating to their employees to managing their resource.
