A band of what looks like monks but they aren't honorable at all and only respect sen judging from what the one in Ashina Castle says when it's burning pretty interesting.
is it possible to do the mortal blade softlock without skipping anything? the game doesn't stop you from going to senpou temple or anything... edit: nevermind, seems like you can't enter the folding monkeys fight without the skip if you haven't talked to isshin.
If you parry the shield guys' shield shoves twice in a row they run out of posture and can be killed. Just hit the shield once, block the shove, repeat once, done ez.
That was the first thing I thought of when I first played the game, it'd be so much cooler and cleaner, like imagine a swap between Nightjar slash into a...I forget it's name but Tomoe's combo, that'd be sick.

When it comes to mods for this game people need to get more creative with characters like Afro Samurai, Ricky Morrow, Ichigo, Mugen/Jean, Rurouni Kenshin just to name a few.
While the voice actor does a great job I just cant take it seriously when he screams his japanese name in american english. It's as silly to me as if Ornstein would enter the boss room like "WATASHIWA ORNSTEINUUUUU"

Yeah, I agree. The voice acting is generally good, but it doesn't feel like it fits the characters at all. Something about the style of speech makes them feel more American than Japanese, which clashes with the setting.
That shot of Sekiro pulling out his sword to face Genichiro at the beginning already oozes cool, but the monkey version might just be the most badass thing ive ever seen in a game
Late, but. I did for my first playthrough because that's how I felt it "should be" considering it was the default option and felt more authentic given the setting, sort of like watching a Japanese movie with subtitles, or playing through the STALKER series with Russian VO's. It was nice for my first playthrough, yet I noticed something during my second with English enabled - I really struggle to distinguish Japanese voices. Some characters sounded the same to me, and I struggled to hear the nuance in a characters delivery of their lines. I chalked it up largely to not understanding the language in the slightest, since on the flip side each English VO sounded wildly unique and overall portrayed their personality in a way I could digest and identify. The Sculptor's somber, pensive manner of speaking resonated harder with me in my native tongue. The way he snaps when telling Sekiro not to "play the fool" was genuinely jarring because of how sharply he speaks at Sekiro in contrast to his mild-mannered disposition, it showed so much emotion and I entirely missed the bite of it in Japanese. Owl's gravely voice and authoritative remarks towards your defiance of the Iron Code highlighted him as a character to me as he cut me down time after time. His last breath was filled with a macabre pride that still sticks with me to this day. Isshin's manner of speaking was very punctuated and reminisced something of a wisened Zapp Brannigan from Futurama, it was honestly just fun to listen to him talk. It's entirely my fault given my ignorance to the language, but out of personal preference English is the way I'd recommend an English speaker experience the game at least once. The English VO's give incredible performances and do their characters so much justice. They could very well be lackluster in comparison to the Japanese version, but it's sadly lost to me and doesn't detract from how wonderful the English is handled imo. Some things I enjoyed about the Japanese voicing is that there wasn't this weird jump from CLEARLY American speaking soldiers giving Japanese warcries the second combat starts - it admittedly feels more in place to have Japanese voices throughout the land of Ashina. That, and the younger characters seemingly sounded more mature in their native language which was more appropriate in my eyes.
I would like a DLC where we play as a young Sekijo (Sculptor) since he also had the Prosthetic. Maybe we get to see his past exploits, get to meet Kingfisher, and our primary weapon is the Shinobi Axe of the Monkey OwO
deyu deyu yes. It's pc and there have been a ton of reskin mods for the game. Mostly enemies and NPCs. Someone also has a zweihander mod out which replaces the katana
I could have been a little bit better if he killed Roberto instead of the Monkey so he technically didn't kill any boss before getting the temple art. But it's nice anyway. This shows how OP the monk can be
I'm not gonna watch his runs until I have finished the game, but does Lobos explain why he plays with english speech? It's so much more immersive with japanese speech IMO. Although english is not my native language either
Sitkid can I ask what exactly you don’t like about sekiro? I’m also a long time fan of FromSoftware in general. Tenchu z, demons souls, all the dark souls and bloodborne. And sekiro might be my favorite FromSoftware game for real. I love the tenchu style stealth with the souls/borne combat. Love the skill point system, I do wish there were some challenge based unlockable clothing or something.

But my biggest gripe is that there's a miniboss/ boss every 2 minutes, and this is my opinion but the second half of the game feels rushed. As in it's filled with reused enemies/ bosses, you fight genichiro 3 times. The music doesn't really do it for me , while great and setting the mood it just feels very forgettable. I'm not saying sekiro is a bad game by any means, I love the game. I just feel it doesn't have replay value outside of challenge runs, and imo replaying was a lot of the fun for me.
I will list my complaints in descending order lol. 1. The stealth aspect was a fun new addition at 1st but quickly becomes rather fatiguing it almost seams like a cop out for the illusion of letting you play the game your own way. 2. The lack of builds such As you pointed out the skill tree is merely an illusion you can get everything you want rather quickly and the “skills” are rather bland and forgettable I found my self Seldomly using them. Part 2 of number 2 The complete lack of other weapons or even armor and/or clothes 0 customization witch is a large part of the genre and franchise. 3. All in all I find the game rather dull and forgetful don’t get me wrong I enjoyed it for the first couple hours until I beat it but once you realize how the combat system works it’s a rather shallow game also not too into the Japanese inspired art theme of this game I can understand why some people do weebs unite and all that but guess it all comes done to personal preference the game for me has absolutely zero replay-ability witch I find sad because I sill do run on all other souls/born games Ps. No pvp feels bad man

It’s not a perfect game, I’m a little halfway through ng+ no kuros charm and bell demon curse. I’m loving it. I do wish the mini bosses had more value in ng+ and beyond, since you can’t get the prayer beads they dropped in the first play through. But, the game is still fairly new and I’m anxiously awaiting some dlc. I guess I’ll wait for that until I make a final verdict on where sekiro stands in my FromSoftware rankings. Bloodborne was an amazing experience, as well as dark souls 1.

Did a little reading found they are modeled after "Sohei" or buhhdist monk warriors. Reminds me also a little of Miroku from Inuyasha.

there should be a way to rotate combat and shinobi arts the same way you can rotate between quick items and prosthetic tools in combat.

Yeah, but that's only *after* he has exhausted every possible challenge run he could do without mods.
Trust me, you run a souls game enough time, it just becomes muscle memory... The mods keep it fresh and interesting
