Bro! I was struggling and you made me realize I was spamming and unable to get into combat rhythm. I was more mindful of this and beat the general I had been stuck on. Thank you!
New Sekiro player here, started just the other day in December 2024. It’s kicking my ass, and I came here to learn a thing or two about how to git gud! 😁
@@klausecuevas7758 If you beat the first Samurai general, you can go back to the temple. A lady (from the intro) will be there. She'll upgrade your gourd. To upgrade your total health, you need to collect 4 beads. Then sit at the Idol to increase your health.
Rule2 is excellent advice. Being a defensive player, I would block 90% of the time. But never noticed that the enemy’s perfect parry was indication of an upcoming attack. Thanks!
i just started playing this game. and still learning the combat mechanics. coming from playing elden ring, demon's souls, bloodborne, this is a totally new experience for me
To be fair, it's not really a great two fights to choose from to showcase this. For example lady butterfly attacks very frequently. Headless eight does not. His attacks are very Slow Therefore, building his posture bar isn't going to work. Even if you do deflect every attack, he has he backs off. Enough and has enough time in between his attacks. You cannot build his poster bar up. Especially when his life bar is on the full side. Lady butterfly attacks so often. She doesn't have an opportunity to bring her posture bar down. The only difference of these fights is the frequency of attacks from the bosses. Therefore, you're forced to take down the life bar of headless ape, and if you're decent at deflecting, you take down lady butterfly through posture. It isn't that the game forces you to decide posture or damage. The game decides for you by how often the n p c's attack you.
@@RobK-rl6sn And that's why it's more efficient to do certain bosses certain ways. You can deflect all you want, the ape really wouldn't build up much posture compared to Lady Butterfly.
I don't know dude, it might be that i have wooden fingers. I just can't get it, which is a shame because it's such a great title, and it does give you that sense of satisfaction when you manage to pull something off.
If it makes you feel any better, I fumbled with the controls when I first start out as well. It takes a lot of practice to get it down to muscle memory. That said, not everyone wants to do that, and I get it. Not every game is for everyone.
I am stuck at Genichiro Ashina since 2 days, i get to his lightning phase but i don't have no healing gourds and res left. Also my health is half or lesser and i panic, i will try not to spam but I cannot figure out how to be aggressive and deflect.
Ok, so here is Genichiro's pattern. You: attack attack parry. On your second attack, genichiro will always parry you hit. That's a sign it's your turn to parry back. Once you successfully parry back, you attack attack parry again. Try to lock him into an attack attack parry attack attack parry attack attack parry loop. However, he would be too easy if that's all he does. On your second attack, sometimes he will do 1 of 3 things. He either pulls back and does the floating passage (it's a 7 hit combo), slide backward and then arrow you several times, or he'll jump really high and strike down. The first 2 are easy to defend, the last move is trickier. When he does the high jump attack, he'll either follow up with a perilous sweep or a thrust. In phase 1, there's a 90% chance (rough estimate) that he'll thrust. Mikiri counter. In phase 2, there's a 90% chance he'll sweep. Headstomp him. Learn to look for the glowing spark on Genichiro's sword when he lands from the high jump attack. It's position will tell you whether it's a thrust or a sweep. If you don't want to worry about that, just remember the phase and what he's most likely to do. Watch the 3:37 segment in the video. I briefly show off how I fight Genichiro there. For his final phase, his defense is a lot looser and will take more direct hits from your sword. Try attack attack, take a brief pause, then if he doesn't do anything, do another attack attack, take a brief pause. The pause is to see if he does the thunder move. At the end of the day, you just gotta practice and observe his fights. Try watching someone's first playthrough against him and then a pro's fight against him to compare. Strictly watching a pro might not always be the best.
Genichiro might be the community’s most agreed boss that is fun to fight cuz he’s aggressive and doesn’t sit around. And fav of mine too. I was struggling at first too but once you get into his rhythm then it’s a dance. Btw you can jump and spam attack when he uses his lightning to attack him back with it
@Dinosaur_Arcade I did well playing Eldin Ring and Dark Souls 3, but Sekiro is much more difficult. The game is based on parrying at an extreme level. The reflexes the game demands are going to be too much for most people, especially if you are over 40. I had to ice my left index finger after playing Sekiro.
You shouldn't! I played it on Steam Deck. I had so much problem with defeating purple ninja. I stopped playing. Played a lot of other consoles and games. More than a year after, one day I started the Steam deck and wanted to try it again. It was harder than ever. I searched on youtube how to defeat him. Now it has passed 1 week and im half through the game with 30+ hours on a week, still playing on Steam Deck. Watching a lot of youtube video ofc, to save time and not die 100 times on every boss. But I really Love Sekiro. You should give it a try!
