Not to just put a brush across it all, but surely desecration of any religions holy book or artefact is wrong - entirely. It is a seriously disrespectful thing.
@@alanbiggs9306What makes you think that the Qur'an that was burnt was a "Holy Book"? - There are over 26 different versions in circulation, Meaning, NO one Original "Word of Allah" - and all from Aramaic and Syriac texts NOT Arabic as claimed, and compiled by men in around 800 AD.
Authenticity is not the point behind my statement - but any version of scripture of any religion is precious to the adherent. Let's face it you could wrap a copy of "Harry Potter and the .... " into the outer cover of a Bible and set light to it - a Christian seeing this is going to be upset by what they see - not the actual act of burning another book all they see is the outer layer going up in flames. Regardless of the contents or version, the people witnessing it are going to see what they think are sacred texts being burned and it ain't gonna go down well. It is all incitement to hatred by way of what is seen - not what has actually happened. Looking at the technicalities of whether it is real or not is not the problem - but the implied disrespect is.
@@alanbiggs9306I think ALL religions, not just Islam, are accorded too much respect and deference. While I generally disapprove of burning books in general, we are not talking about removing books from libraries and schools here. No ideas are in jeopardy. It's just a bunch of printed pages (presumably owned by the person burning them). Protestors in Muslim countries are confusing symbolism with religious sacredness, something that is a figment of their imaginations. If anything, they are giving the book burners exactly what they were seeking, an absurd over-reaction, and playing right into their hands.
