mm... yeah not much to say. tfw for me there is you. for the record it's not really dated speech so much as just very poetic vibes for the parts I translated with things like O, Thence, etc
The song's original title was "Utsukushiki Hito Arui wa Sore wa Koi no Uta ka", (美しき人　或いは其れは　恋の歌か; A Beautiful Person, Or Perhaps It Is a Love Song). Director Tomohiro Furukawa decided to remove the end of the title as it stated it too directly, instead wanting to let the viewers fill in the rest of the title. (i did not know this when i subbed the movie, so unfortunately it is incorrect in the currently circulating version of the subs, along with whatever other errors I made)

Since it was stated by the producers that the original title for this song was "Utsukushiki Hito Aruiwa Sorewa Koi no Uta ka?", meaning "A Beautiful Person, or Perhaps it is a Love Song?" (which makes sense, since the released title seems to be missing an end), can we infer that the last line was also cut? I mean, Aa, anata wa can mean "to which you are" like it is put in the translation, but if it is missing something, perhaps on the same line of what was cut of the original title, It can lead directly do a love confession.
I am just saying, it is a possibility, but like, not like this needs to be explicitly more romantic, it already is.

you're right! actually i believe in the movie right after that is when maya says "saijou claudine... anata wa utsukushii" (you are beautiful) so it probably better reflects it to just say "aah, you are..." instead of "that which you are" which implies it's directly about the rivals line prior. nice catch

@@veggiesub not to mention how the translations put the "that which you are", that are not really needed since they already said "futari ni wa raibaru wo". I just think the "aaa, anata wa" can be the start of so many different sentences.

if im not wrong the original song title was supposed to be Utsukushiki Hito Arui wa Sore wa Koi no Uta ka/美しき人　或いは其れは恋の歌か (TL: A Beautiful Person, Or Perhaps It Is a Love Song) according to to the director, but the director thought it was a direct title so he decided to remove half of it and let the audience decide the rest of the title. yeah you're not wrong!

tl note I just added to the lyrics on the wiki: 醜くて　美しい (minikukute utsukushii, "Be it ugly or beautiful") can be more directly translated as just "Ugly and beautiful", implying that something that is ugly is in fact beautiful. imo it's referring to maya's true emotions being displayed, which she calls ugly, but revealing that ugly, raw emotion is beautiful. my og take on this kind of loses that feeling a bit but it's not too far off so i'll just leave it w/ a note
