初見は「は?終わり??」だったけど
本編、叛逆の全てを理解した後に叛逆もう一周した時ほむら以外が幸せな場面でこのedの曲調天才だと思った
今でも曲聴くだけであの異常な余韻を思い返すくらい
最後、まどかとほむらの2人が手を繋いで走り去って段々小さくなる姿は、非常に尊いものを見せられたと当時劇場で感じましたね。新劇場版最高だ。
カラフル聴いたあとのこれは虚無感すごいよ。ていうかほんとにこれほどメリーバットエンドに合う曲は無いと思う
マドマギは神曲ばかりですね良すぎて感動します☀️
考察の余地が大いにある歌詞と映像だけど、記憶も力も奪われたはずのまどかちゃんの踊り方が両手を打ち鳴らしたり大きく上半身を振ったりとノリノリなのに対して、願いを叶えたはずのほむらちゃんが凄くたどたどしく踊っているのが気になるところ。
あとなにより最後の最後、ずっと境界線が引かれて色も別、背景もまったく別に分かたれていた２人が手を繋いで画面奥の奥、こちらからは判別がつかないぐらい遠ざかっていくことで一つに混じっていく（ように見える）ところが、いつか２人が本当にわかり合えることを暗示してくれているようで感動ものだった。

What a beautiful song to listen to after being emotionally tortured and confused for approximately 2 hours. It's like it was meant to make the audience feel happier and forget about the ending, but it just made them all feel even worse and cry even more. Or, at least, that's how it was for me.

I love how this is exactly the opposite of Magia. In Magia, Madoka is running forward alone and all Homura can do is reach out to her in vain, but in Kimi No Gin No NIwa, they are both holding hands and running forward together.

Homura's actions in Rebellion always roused more sadness than anger from me. I saw what she did as a desperate, last attempt to make Madoka happy, whether or not her actions did is a debate I'm hoping to keep away from this comment section because for right now it's pretty clean of that. Homura just wants Madoka to be happy, but Madoka is someone who feels like, in order for her to matter or be worth much in life, she has to sacrifice herself. Their story is terribly sad, one of them wants to make the other happy, but the other has to sacrifice herself to feel worth something. Poor, poor Homura. For her wish to come true she has to play the villain and possibly even be the enemy of the one she wants to protect.
I agree with you. I wouldn't blame Homura for her action in Rebellion. Because, after spent a lot of time loop to save Madoka in many scenario in different timeline, she still couldn't save her. Although at first she was content with Madoka chose to become the Law of Cycle and disappear from everyone's memory,except Homura herself cause of her power of time, she couldn't bear it anymore. She just want to be next to her, not as a mortal and God, but as friend who can spend their time to laugh and grief together.
I don't get it when people say that she should've let Madoka alone, Mami told Madoka that "death would be a kinder fate" then what she went through.
Basically it all boils down to if you could save your friend from dying, even if they want to die, would you still save them? The obvious answer is yes. Any sane person would try to protect their friend from that, especially to Homura, who gave up everything just to protect Madoka, and it all ended up still not working out for her.
People say they hated Homura after the movie, but honestly, I love her even more.
Madoka didn't do her sacrifice just "to be woth in life".
At first, she wanted to become a magical girl for that, but at the end, having seen everything, she did it for real ALTRUISM. First, she wanted to be altruist,yes, but for herself, for being able to feel proud of herself, but then she did that for the girls suffering really. So, it's not a real "sacrifice". Instead, she did "what is neccesary to do for everything else to be happy", even if she, doing that, sacrificed herself. Still, she was happy and she made that wish her life's purpose. The problem is, Homura misunderstood her real feelings when she talked with the Madoka of her witch world, who didn't remember anything of the "bad side" of being a magical girl, and said she wouldn't be happy without her family & friend's warm.
Not saying I don't agree with your opinion about Homura's actions, but just wanted to make clear the real wish of Madoka :)
The intentions of Homura are good ones, but the actions are wrong because she is wrong about Madoka's actual feelings, that's all. It's just a misunderstanding, but I'd wish they made movie 4 and solve this situation. Think about the rest of magical girls or the end of the universe. What will happen now to the universe without the power of entropy or to the girls/goodness without a God of Hope to balance the desperation/evilness?

これってまどか監禁ソングだけど、ほむらには迷いがあるって考えられる。
『どこにも行かないで
窓辺で寄り添って』
って言う歌詞は『行かないで』って言ってるのに『窓辺』っていう出口を連想、つまりアルティメットまどかに戻ることを望んでいるというか選択肢に入れている。
本編の最後あたりにまどかがアルティメットに戻りかけたようにほむらは心の何処かでまどかはここに（ほむらの世界）には居てはいけないと感じてしまっているということ。
あと、まどかのアルティメットは神様みたいなものだけどほむらの悪魔ってまだ人間に近いし、まどかは吹っ切れてるけど、悪魔っていう人間に近いほむら人間らしく迷ってると思う。

『声が呼ぶまではもう少し遊ぼう』『終わらない始まりへ』から『本当の終わりへ』という歌詞の辺りが、ほむらは自分で作り上げた世界がいずれ(まどかがアルティメットに戻るなどで)終わってしまうことを悟ってるようだと感じてます。円環の理であることを忘れているまどかに対して『どこにも行かないで』なんて、本来なら必要のない願いのはず。ほむらの中の不安や迷いは未だ消えてないということなのでしょうね。

While I'm no longer Christian, and haven't been for several years, I had a very religious mother. In Christianity, the devil has always been described as being closer to humans than God, much in the same way that Homura continued to live among the humans of Mitakihara City after she "ascended". In fact, some churches preach that that was the very reason God created Jesus; to have an "agent on the ground," as it were.
Looking at it through that lens, it seems Ultimate Madoka, as you call her, made a mistake by not leaving behind any sort of avatar or persona to act as her own agent on Earth. I suppose all Magical Girls could conceivably count as her "agents," but honestly, they seem to be more like angels. There are innumerable angels in heaven, according to Christianity, but they lack the ability to bridge the gap between humanity and the divine in the same way that Jesus could. Similarly, while Magical Girls after Madoka's apotheosis act as agents of hope, the Law of Cycles really doesn't have any Messiah-like figures or direct emissaries until Sayaka and Bebe's return in Rebellion.

I think rebellion came out in 2013 if I remember this right, and right now it's 2018, I really don't think rebellion should be the last one because of the ending, it _really_ requires a sequel if you ask me, a sequel to resolve what Homura did...
Rebellion was also not quite as good as the 12 episodes, but still pretty good in my personal opinion

作中の登場人物からしたら割とハッピーエンドなんだけど、ほむほむが一人ぼっちになっちゃったのは見てて辛いな。
個人的には本編12話は全ての魔法少女のハッピーエンド、新編の叛逆は本編で救われなかった2人と4人のハッピーエンドって解釈してます。
本編では救えず勝手に自己完結して概念化しちゃったまど神様を世界を改変して無理やりにでも救おうとした叛逆は、確かに圧倒的多数からの一般的な正義としての意見では最悪のバッドエンド(ただの1個人の都合で世界改変しているので笑)かもしれませんが、彼女らからの視点で見てしまうとこれが最善の結果だと思えてしまうものですね…
中でも叛逆のいささか中途半端で物語的にもやや乱暴(世界改変、神様監禁、記憶捏造笑)な終わり方とミスマッチしたようなこの優しい雰囲気の曲は最高のエンディングとしての演出だと思います。

10回近く見に行ったけど、ラストの手を繋いで走ってくシーンは全部泣いたな。遠ざかってく姿を見てもう終わりなのか…って寂しさと共に。続編楽しみだけどKalafinaの歌はもう聞けないからな

I feel that this movie was to show that Homura just... broke.
She had to go through the same month (?) over, and over, and over again-watching events deteriorate at a faster rate. Watching your best friend die, especially for a child, is gonna fuck you up.
And all her efforts were for naught because Madoka decides to erase herself from existence, something SHE chose to do (and no fault of the timeline).
So it was obvious Honura was gonna develop some toxic behaviors-obsession, self hatred, suicidal thoughts.
Homura is depressed.
And even with intervention from her friends, she is still depressed and full of issues. That is not something that clears up overnight.
So even though she “won”, she still list and is still unhappy.
It is so heart breaking that I really do want to see her get better in the next movies. I want some semblence of a happy ending for these girls who have been manipulated, gaslighted, and driven to the extremes by an emotionless asshole.
I'm really hoping the upcoming movie ends with the girls finally being eternally at peace WITHOUT Madoka erasing her own existence.

Rebellion sequel aka Walpurgis no Kaiten finally delivered its first PV a few days ago. Damn the FEELS... After rewatching this glorious yet melancholic Rebellion ED, I really REALLY want Homu and Madoka to finally get their happy ending together.

Apparently, according to the voice for Homura. Chiwa Saito said something like "Homura will be back, but wait I'm devil Homura right now.", It was technically teased at Anime Expo 2019 awhile back during some panel. You'll have to find it, I'm not even sure if it's still on TH-cam. You can probably find it by just typing Madoka Magica Anime Expo 2019 and look for old news articles.

こんなノスタルジックな気持ちにさせられる曲は他に無いと思う。
OMG. “The scent of the flower reminds me of a secret.” “I am here.” That’s the secret. Madoka’s existence, that only Homura knows about. TOO MANY FEELS, DAMMIT.
I think this ED video is perhaps the saddest part of this very sad series. Something about the simple silhouettes reaching out for each other. And consider the song's about a mentally broken, suicidally depressed train wreck of a girl who was already rather depressed before she even met Madoka, and ended up selling her soul for a girl she'd only known for about a week because she was nice to her. Think about that. Not a close friend or family member, because she may not have even had one of those. And at least Sayaka was able to move on after her death. Not Homura.
andyjay729 actually, I think Homura knew Madoka for about a month before making a contract. But yeah, I agree! One thing I like about this series is how little is said about Homura's life before she met Madoka, but there's so much you can infer from how she acts. She's so anxious before meeting Madoka, and I imagine she went through most of her life feeling extremely lonely. I'm pretty sure she's also an orphan, and how the Clara dolls act make me think she may have been bullied before. Madoka is actively kind to and does love (platonically and/or romantically, I'm not getting into shipping now) Homura. Homura goes from extreme loneliness to having the greatest friend she could probably ever dream of to that friend dying due to some unstoppable force all within a month. I heard somewhere that Homura went through nearly 100 timelines to save Madoka. Homura's life is so sad, I wouldn't be surprised if her time with Madoka was literally the best moments of her life. The sight of she and Madoka holding hands and running off together is truly moving.
Well concerning the amount of timelines we really don't know so I. Theory Homura could have gone through an almost infinite number of timelines before reaching the current one. So yeah just some depressing food for thought
Someone from the team stated that it were about hundred timelines. My personal headcanon is that there were way more - but hundred are confirmed.

That last post-credits animation, of the two of them holding hands and running off into the distance as the melancholy outro slows and fades as they do is still one of the most prevailing symbols in my mind of this series, and always tugs at my heartstrings every time I hear this music. I couldn't even put into words how much it represents, which is common for this series, it being such an ineffably amazing product.

「大人になる門は堅く閉ざされて」って歌詞は、魔法少女になったら最後魔女になって死ぬしかないから、大人になる事はできないって意味なんかな、、
どちらかというと、悪魔になったほむらが
もう大人に成れないって感じてました。
「幼い眠りを守りたい番人 大人になる門は堅く閉ざされて」なので、ほむらが、まどかが大人になること（精神の覚醒＝アルまど）を妨げてるって意味です。

I'm extremely happy that there will be a fourth madoka movie, but also I don't think they can beat story and ending from Rebellion. This one was just a masterpiece.

ほむらちゃんはどの時間軸、世界が一番幸せだったのかな？悪魔ほむらの改変後の世界が幸せにはみえなかった。結局どこかではこんな世界を否定してるんじゃないか、まだまどかがほむらと友だちだった時のことを思って過去に囚われてるんじゃないかって思ってしまう。

Fun fact, The animation trick is the put the same keyframes on twos so that it would flow with the movements and that is why it is so smooth along with inbetweens to balance it out

これを超えるアニメをまだ見れてない。
If by that you mean any other anime which could leave you deeply emotional, I guess not much.
I heard Berserk is pretty emotionally deep and Studio Ghibli movies are known for being pretty emotional. Naomi Urasawa's Monster does have some deeply heart-touching scenesfor it's mostly bleak plot and Naruto Shippuden also has plenty of tragic arcs for certain characters, in my personal favorites being Sasori and Itachi.
In terms of general entertainment however, there are shows that do give more entertainment. After all, what entertains a person the most depends on the person themself.
But this franchise is excellent in making people feel for the characters and the music is also super fitting to most of the scenes to the point that they just make you feel something even if you don't want to feel it.

You know, this song always makes me think about someone incredibly special to me. This was a movie I saw with them, and a series we both love dearly. And without getting too in depth into it, we haven't really spoken much since then for a ton of reasons. So I'll admit its a very bittersweet thing to hear this song, but its still always a pleasure to look back at those fond memories together.

When I ended this show, it was late December, I remember sitting in a small bed at my grandparents house in the woods. My two older brothers were also crammed in the bed and it was past 4:00am. When this song came on we were just sitting there for minutes, each of us taking in the fact that the show was over, with tears in our eyes and holes in our hearts. It was a masterpiece and was the first anime I watched. I will forever remember it 😢😌

It's interesting how many people need Homura's actions to be right in order to like her. Leaving aside all discussion of whether she was right (disclaimer: I think she was wrong), Homura is a deeply tragic character of enormous emotional power. Why would she need to 'be right' about Madoka in order for people to see that, and feel connected to her? Can't they like her if she isn't right?

Loved the series & movie. Angry sad amazed hopeful all those emotions captured in a really simple show. The song is as perfect a tribute to the actual shows & the creators as any so g I could name. Just the first few bars and I recognize it. Empty? Not at all.

どう解釈するかで評価は変わるのだろうけど、ほむほむのヤンデレ（純愛）ソングであって欲しい。

Such a perfect song to pick for the credits. It feels so close yet so far from the movie ending and it truly is a good song for staring at the screen in shock.

well, a truly happy ending is basically impossible, since madoka's wish cannot coexist with homura's wish, madoka wanted to protect everyone, including homura, but homura wanted to protect madoka, and that causes a cycle were one wish eventually overcomes the other and vice-versa.
