    Nice video. Thanks!
A great machine definitely. No one will make notebooks like these anymore!
My_13 precision m4700 is still a faithful and precious travel companion.
I have all my files with 6Tb of ssd, 8 virtual linux pc always ready (I remember choosing this machine because
it was born with Windows Virtual PC). I buy it with long life battery, and it lasted 10 years.
Of course I never used it much and never used it with DC cable connected
but no battery lasts that long!
Really grateful to Dell for creating a robust, functional and durable machine.
I will change it only when Dell offers a computer
like this. With removable battery and real and unquestionable quality.

Ssd and rams will do the trick. I mean there is no way you can run thing fast on a dozen years old pc or notebook if you don't have an ssd. But the way these old computers were made... they simply were worth the money back then. Like cars and bikes for instance. Now they either cut corners when it comes to how well built products are, or you have to pay 15-20k usd to get a similar build quality.

It is the best laptop I own, and I have a dozen, at this point. It has been my go-to for about 5 years, with Win10 Pro on it. I got is already suped-up to 32 GB Ram and with a 2 TB storage where the CD used to be. I put in a 1TB with the OS on it. With Microsoft screwing people and there is a year left on Win 10 support, I will probably swap the 1 TB with another with Linux on it. Probably Mint. It is a hot OS. I have been able to do lots with the M4700, and with Linux running an old machine much faster, I am looking forward to another decade of use out of this laptop.

You definitely can use it today )) Even more, you can replace video card with Quadro T2000, which beats even GTX 980M.

Nvidia / GeForce stopped updating the GPU Drivers, so newer games that SHOULD run, will not install, due to the GPU drivers being out-of-date.
With Windows 10 Pro, I set it to always use the dedicated, high-performance GPU,
    NVIDIA Quadro K2000M.
In Device Manager, I disabled the built-in (integrated) Intel GPU, since it would slow game performance, when the Dell M4700 auto-switched between the two GPU processors (Intel & NVidia.)
    - I found the laptop usable for Elder Scrolls Online (MMO), World of Warcraft (MMO), Oblivion, Skyrim, Grand-Theft-Auto VC, San Andreas. Can use Windows 10 Pro, but not the Windows 11 Operating System.
I usually turn down the Graphics in the Software to Lowest settings. Then I gradually increase the settings, as I play the particular game.
For instance, turning off Grass stops the GPU from having to continually re-draw the screen, to show blades of grass waving in the breeze.
    - Replaced HDD with SATA Solid State. Added Second HDD in the mSATA slot.
(C:) 2.5 Inch drive - Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5 Inch Internal SSD - [Square package like the mechanical hard drive.]
(D:) mSATA drive port - Samsung SSD 860 EVO 500GB mSATA Internal SSD (MZ-M6E500BW) - [Looks like a small circuit board.]

It's best practice when dismantling a laptop to use a Magnetic Project Mat.

Actually I've started web dev, for my business and not only. Doing sites from scratch without tools like bootstrap or wordpress is very tedious, but it's nice if you really know what you're doing when coding, and understanding exactly what's going on. I started in html with css for design and js for functionality. In terms of css, it is quite tricky as it requires you to have a good grasp in design, colors and basically ui/ux. But.. there is a but here. I made some changes starting this year and my schedule got insanely full with days on a row when I would work 16 hours. I don't know how or when I will find the time to create new content, especially for coding, but I have a few projects in mind. I just hope I can manage my time a bit better. We'll see...

Hey there 👋... So by sudden stopped charging do you mean: 1. In you OS you don't see the percentage rising?
      2. It does not work at all? Like cannot power it with or without battery.
For 1, it simply could be the windows . Not sure though about the battery, since these old batteries don't "fail" like the newer ones where you have various chips that control how the system understands the state of the battery. So I would rather think that it may be an OS issue... you can try to completely discharge the battery and recharge it fully a couple of times.
Now, if number 2... and you said that you measured and the battery is being charged but no crank at all(or you can turn it on?), it could be some basic component in the power zone... from a diode or resistor to even a chip like the power IC. It may even be the button. There are many possible issues and it is near damn impossible for me to pinpoint the exact problem but if you give a bit more details, maybe we can establish an area on where to look at. But mind you, motherboard issues are very complicated. You need the knowledge, the schematics a lot of time, proper tools to work with smd components, test them... find out where the short or blown component is, desolder it using hot air station of course... and so on. So unless you have the tools and skills for this operation, you will be far better if you take it to someone that knows this kind of stuff.
I hope it is software related though...

Take Windows out of the equation, go into the BIOS setup and see if the computer still recognizes the power adapter (charger), if not, it will do one of two things, refuse to charge the battery, or only charge the battery to a certain percentage, say around 50%.
