Love the positive messages in this video. U don’t have to stress out finding the desired hairstyle is not the same as u imagine in the photo. Instead, be the best in your own version
I like my hair style. My main haircut for my entire life was the buzz cut. Until high school I changed it to the executive contour with a high skin fade and high shine using oil based pomade. But when it starts to grow out I do a neatly combed slick black.
I often used this reference photo when I come in for a short crew haircut. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. It's also nice that you've touched on the realistic and practical results rather than the expectations when showing references for haircuts with slight differences in face shape, hair type, hair line while still making it fit the individual getting their hair cut.
The short haircut u got from the last video is basically the cut I always got my whole life until I got sick and tired of the same thing and basically seeing every guy with skin fade medium/short cut. That's why I now have a 1 year and 5 months long hair and looks epic, especially trying something different
The guy in the reference is more of an extremely short type of crop with a line up on the fringe, what you got was a textured quiff. They are two completely dirrent styles
So true man! All these guys on google images are usually models and super attractive as well with chiseled jawlines and contoured faces. Asking for the haircut they have won’t change your face unfortunately lol, but we can all still look great!
We have the same hair man, down to the cow lick and all. I’ve been following you for over 4 years and it seems like we’re always on and off the same hairstyle😂 appreciate the content and positive vibe of it all
Every single thing you said in this video is what I have been needing to hear now for yearsssss !! I have had the same complaints, obsessiveness , and issues that you detailed in this vid . Thank you soooo much I really needed this 😢
Cool haircut fresh, like it the most when you have a little Hair on the sides 3-6mm Btw the frame/cut you went for, is so hard to grow out, I cut of all of my fringe 10years back for a video took me 6 months to grow back looking a little awkward in the process.
As a barber, I get what this dude is saying and it’s true, hair type matters, but tbh your barber just didn’t cut your hair right 😂 too long on your top (need an inch off and some texturizing to achieve the look on top) and too low on your fade (you still have the c cup hooks in front of your ears)
@@AshTheDuke Agree. My hairs are thin and my hairline is like a boomerang (kinda big forehead). I was always worried when I went to the barber cause sometimes they just messed up my haircut so badly. Now I cut it by myself just buzzcut cause my skull is in good shape atleast not like my stupid hairs.
This guy is a hair legend. every time you go through a certain hair problem, Joe is right there to give u valuable info. 100% quality hair content and no-BS look no further.😎
you said it perfectly. never try and mimic someone else’s cut bc that’s where you start to not like it. just take inspiration but never try and copy completely. try and be unique w it and work w what works best w your hair type, face and head shape, and just what you feel comfortable w
Hear me out. I finally achieved the hair I want after I follow this YT channel since the beginning. I did keratin treatment, then everytime before blow-dry I use hair serum 4 drops. Then I used the flat wrap technique, and boom my hair stays the way I want, smooth, shiny and silky. It gets better if use some hair products. All thanks to this chanel
This is why I look at hair styles but I don’t bring them to a stylist. I tell them what I want and let them roll with it. Growing my hair out but shaved the sides. I’m pleased with how it looks currently and it’s not even fully grown out yet.
...and that is very true about different types of hair, I was talking about this with my barber and he goes through so many patrons that want a specific hairstyle they saw on Insta or a celebrity. Most don't work out cuz of the features you pointed out on what goes on with your individual scalp. I agree with you, you should make it your own. I have to admit, the short hair style you did looked pretty chill, but with your sides growing in and your texture up top, looks way good on you. It makes it you 👍💯
Not a long time ago, I found inspiration in you and tried to replicate your wonderful quiff. But my hair would fall all over the place because of its thin texture. Then I realized all the things you explain here. I started trying new hairstyles and embrace them on my own!
I'd like to add that when you reference photos, be specific. If you mention "I want something like this (shows photo) medium fade with skin" but don't mention cutting or leaving the top your barber wont know. If you want it shorter just mention how long you want it to be or how much you want off. I always have to mention to new barbers I want medium fade skin, nothing off the top, no feathering and no line ups. Dont be afraid to tell them want you want or looking for, it makes it easier on them and your paying for a service get it the way you want(within reason)
I got a haircut and I showed the lady cutting it the pics of you after you cut it very short in the video before, and they almost nailed it. I was very surprised because I can't remember I time I get a haircut that I actually liked. It's the shortest I have ever gone also
every barber ive gone to in the last year has taken way too much hair off the top we start with 'none off the top', then 'just the ends' and next thing you know, its gone from 5/6 inches to half of that.
I love how you used Dre Drexlers account as an example. I have always thought you guys look so similar, and sometimes I get your channels confused 😂😅 both awesome content creators!!
2:57 uhm... the cut in the front is way different though. The reference has it pretty short while yours is longer. It's just different. I guess thats why it looks different :P
@@MrEysox Look up caesar cut, there are plenty of haircuts with thicker hair and higher hairlines that still pull off the hairstyle. It's just a lazy barber. The hairtype argument is hogwash for this comparison.
my hairline brought me here lol it so hard to have a hairstyle when you have natural receeding hairlines. Currently go with a a 3 on side/ long top so you can obviously have some control
Thank you for explaining this, I've been wondering why I can't get the hair I want even though I showed the stylist a photo of how I want my hair to look
I can tell the reference photo and your haircut was indeed different, being a barber definitely pay attention to detail to satisfy my clients.. it was a fresh cut though!!
I paused at 1:50 to make this comment, the rest of the video may make me look stupid though 😂 most of the time when someone brings a photo like that I’ll point out how short the corners actually are (much shorter than a traditional men’s cut), then I’ll point out that very short blunt fringe and then most clients would go “oh I didn’t notice it was THAT short and blunt...” then after tweaking it to what they actually thought they saw in the first place it’s not even the same haircut from the photo. This happens like 7 out of 10 times. People bring a photo with a deliberately bold statement piece in the haircut (like your inspo photo) then they back out once you isolate that statement piece for them.
Great perspective coming from the stylist angle! this probably had a subconscious effect on me as well. We started cutting and I was like dannggg this is SHORT, even though I said I want to go super short lol
You and me have very similar hair texture/color/volume etc. different face shape but forehead is similar. So i 100% related to this video. It took awhile to figure it out, how to rock all the different styles and cuts i've had over the years. Especially the long slick-back look, that was quite flustering for awhile, I also found out sea salt-water spray (maybe from a video you did) really helped my texture for messy looks at any length.
Tbf though the picture and your cut were styled a bit different. Your hair going up in sort of a textured quiff whilst the picture being styled down in a textured crop. Great video though it took me a while to realize that my fine hair wouldn't be able to pull off all these thick hair hairstyles lol.
For me the difference between both hair Styles is that yours is upwards in the front and his look like was laying forward and they lined it up and then they try to put it up and that's why it looks like it's going a little bit more towards the front
The best thing that I ever did for myself was to learn how to cut my own hair. Save so much time and money and you don’t have to be pissed off at a barber for screwing up your hair and you get to cut it the way that you want to cut it and know how to cut it and stylet the way that you want to style it
alot of these are just saying fix it rather then change it or find what your looking for and honestly dont like the lack of a strait forward answer i myself am not a normie that wants things to be easy and dont mind having experimenting but i feel like it is essentially telling me to teach myself about hair style and such with all this head shape and hair types i dont really know much about this subject but thats how i feel
Joe, what do you think of the latest TikTok hair trend for younger adults? The combed forward semi-wavey hair bangs with the tapered sides? You know the one I am talking about? I believe theSalonGuy did a tutorial on it recently.
I like this video. Explains that we basically judge our selfs waaay more than others… and yeah that dude has a tiny forehead, his eyebrows are basically his hairline lol
I think my problem is that I'm going for such a unique haircut and it is SO distinctive that it's taken me literally YEARS to perfect it, and it's still evolving. I'm basing my cut on a cut Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance had in 2011, and it's very unique and I'm still in the process of growing the bangs out and have been doing that for a year.
