Hey, this makes so much sense! You mention second day hair, and it just really hit me how my hair is always looking its best one day after I've washed it haha! I personally only use shampoo (whichever happens to be inside the shower) and my hair lacks an enormous amount of volume afterwards and is definitely too soft, as you mention. It just falls flat no matter what I do, but this shed some light on how I could fight against it... Thanks!

My hair sucks, it's unruly, wavy at the ends, and isn't flat. It will not be soft if I don't use some conditioner unlike my friends' hairs.

My tip is dont shampoo every day shampoo only every 2-3 days depending on how much it can dry your hair or hairtype. Avoid sulfate products they dry you hair and condition your hair every day but use only a small amount of it because conditioner is like your hairs moisturizer

This is EXACTLY the answer I was looking for. I was always confused why my hair can’t stand the first day after I shower, but after the second or third day it can be easily styled. I just wish my hair can be curly even after a shower
I refuse to give up my soft hair, so i just rely on frying my hair with a hair straightener to style it..
same the problem I find with that though is throughout the day it just goes back to normal

This was actually great. As I've mentioned many times in the comments I've been growing my hair for about a year now and I definitely have the flatness issue. On work days I'm ok with it because just tucking it behind my ears keeps it professional but I'd been trying to get some more life into it in days I'm not working. Might also need to go to a stylist and get it layered like I believe you've mentioned in a video before.
Hi! I have also the flatness and stubborn hair issue. I’ve been trying to the Cole Sprouse hair but it just goes flat! It’s really annoying, I have to keep managing it every second to stay in place. Do you have any tips?
ive also been growing it out. sea salt spray and hairspray didn't quite do it for me (but definetly give it a try, I'll try every now and then to see if something changed cause of the length) but a styling mousse got me to achieve the results i wanted (its not like a wax or pomade or whatever, its like a foam you normally put when your hair is semi-dry to make curls stay longer but it also makes any styling last longer.

You saved my life for real! I never had this short hair and I decided to cut it that short. The hair artist didn't tell me how I can style it that way. This is the single most useful video I’ve seen in a long time. I’m a guy who’s tried to grow out my hair multiple times, but it always just ends up completely straight and in my face no matter what I do. Turns out I’ve been using the exact opposite kind of shampoo and conditioner that I should be.

This is it! I have very fine hair that won't hold curl and lays so flat. I thought maybe my hair wasn't healthy so I've been using silk therapy and some anti frizz oil, one drop of each through my medium length hair and I use a boar bristle brush between washes. My bf loves how soft it is but I feel like I can never get it to cooperate enough to style it. I thought the problem was my hair being weighed down by grease between washes or something. You gave me a clue as to where I'm going wrong. You're a saint! Thank you! Thank you!
My hair is just naturally super-soft. I could go a week without washing my hair and it still would be super soft... Volume powder sounds like something that hopefully works haha.
Sea salt spray does nothing for me, my hair just absorbs it and goes back to being soft and silky lol

Hey salon guy ! Strong mousse with light blow dry always works for me. But dry cutting small sections at a time lifts flat hair quite a bit !

I definitely have this issue. I use Schwarzkopf Push Up Volume powder to help get some volume and grit like you said. My only issue is after using that - unless I'm using way too much - is you can't run your fingers through it after to drag it back or play with styling much. You just hit snarls and knots and start breaking or ripping hair out.

Thanks a lot, this was really helpful! I've been trying to get volume in my hair just from using a lot of product, like pomade or gel, but after a few hours, it just falls back down. Its probably been a few years since the last time i DIDN'T put product in it because of how soft and floppy it is

Another thing I've seen that at least works for me is to train your part in a different way. My hair used to naturally part down the middle and I did not like how it looked cause the top of my hair would stick down and not rise but then I gave myself a side part on the left to give it a bro flow my thick hair really showed its volume

Usually when I woke up in the morning my hair will be easier to deal with and have a bit of volume, but as soon as it came into contact with water it will become the softest thing ever.
my hair barely reaches my eyebrows and I use thickening shampoo, and then put a very specific kind of gel in it before blowdrying it with hot and then cold air. then I put in some more gel. this is the only way my hair gets any volume and then after a few hours or by the end of the day it’s flat against my head again 💀
As I got older I stopped doing a lot of things I used to that damaged my hair and I always wondered why my hair didn’t have much volume anymore so thank you!!

this seems to be the problem to what I have been wondering about in my hair and why I always wondered why it would always just fall down. Thank you for explining it much more and also I would like to add that I use head and shoulders and I believe it gets rid of most of the oil in my hair so that is why it falls flat after I'm done and also because I always use conditioner. I will try to use the one you recommended now.
I recommend staying away from heads and shoulders. Look for a sulfate free shampoo. I used to use H&S but once I switched my hair became way more healthier and less dandruffy
