Great video. I urrently have a livewire one (great bike) and a fully modded Pan America.I have had the whole harley lineup over the years. Just sold paul Yaffee back his chopper i had for 20 years. Not the most comfortable bike. I am thinking about getting this bike for our home up north in the mountains,I would imagine because of the weight this may be able to do more trials then my Pan.I may get so son and i can ride some of the fire roads. The Himalayan as i see it could do some more difficult trails do to weight.

That bike has the "ying" through the gears (old 2-stroke term), it revs quickly...they'll sell a lot of this bike and the guerilla too. Your friend Jim sounds familiar; I have sold a ninja 650 with 459 miles, a GSXr-750 with 796 miles, etc My two Triumphs: 2012 Thruxton has 2,500 miles, the 2020 Speed Twin 1200 has almost 1,100 miles and both are available; going cheap... My 750INT stays, has 45,000 miles 😂

The bike's been off for a year in India and has been released in Australia and Europe too in the last several months. I personally put almost 10,000 mi on this one. I'm hoping that any growing pains have been dealt with. Having said that, every year the Himalayan motorcycle quality goes up.

You can ring the Himmy out drop it & man handle it as a Flash ADV is so flash & expensive average Joe doesn't want to risk it & ends up veing a road bike & good gravel roads.A Himmy 452 you'll take more risks & easier to manhandle & like you said the weight is manageable & is now mote Highway,Motorway friendly too.

Sat on it and poked around for a while and really liked what I saw, I'm in the market for my first bike and I think it just jumped into the lead. I have had 3 big ADVs over the last 20 years. The reason I like them is the riding position. At my old age (76) I can spend more hours in the saddle without getting tired. Yes, I miss my R1. It was the best bike I ever owned, but in the end I could only ride for 20 or 30 minutes. So why a big ADV? Because my 1290 SAS is a blast to ride. Puts a smile on my face every time.

I think the stock Harley Sportster muffler would do the same thing without all the noise . If you use the top muffler from the pair (one without the cross over port) it would look almost stock . Because they come from a much bigger engine they breath really good and sound amazing. Just a thought . I went to 26mm carbs Mikuni’s from 24’s and these mufflers on my 71 Honda SL 350 for only a little 350 they made a huge difference in power and tunability .

Just completed two identical rides out across dartmoor (40mph limits due to cattle, sheep and ponies running loose) on my new RE 450 Himalayan and my 'keeepr' bmw r1200RS. Both did the ride as well as each other, including 70mph A roads but less fuel used on the 450. Priced a change for the 2017 RS (18,000miles, full service history and in very good condition) offer to a new R1250RS SE - £12000 plus the bike - at least the nearly £2k of accessories, hugger, engine protector, side cases, inserts and top box would swop over OR keep my RS and buy a new Himalayan - now have 500 miles on the RE and spare money in the bank for more trips out. I could use either now for another trip from uk to Norway and although different machines I have no doubt the RE would probably be more fun once I got above the arctic circle.

Im from india and my criteria for any bike (adv) is that i should be able to lift it, handle it all by myself high up in the himalayan mountains. If i can do that, i can manage the bike anywhere else in any situation. My ,ain criteria is weight and it has to be under 200 kgs, or max under 210. This ticks of all the boxes. Royal enfield announced yesterday that the tubeless spoke rims will now be available. So once im back from the himalayas where i am touring currently, I'll order one. My friends have bigger bikes (2 versys 650 and 1 bmw 850gsa in the group) and all struggled in the mountains requiring minimum of 2 people to pick up a fallen bike.
