Hi Steve & Alex. It was a hard job and I agree doesn’t look much to build but the is a lot work that you have to do get there. Which you two always do. Good job guys. Have a good week 👍
we done 1 house all blocks, if blocks where end to end comes out at 3.4 miles long. 12.500 blocks, L shaped split level mono pitch, the kitchen/dinning room window is 40 ft long, 7 exterior doors 5 double 2 single, 70 ft wrap around balcony overlooking the bay and islands 1.4 acre garden. like Alex i learned from my Dad great time working with him. didn't know till he kicked the bucket a great mate as well as a Dad
Nice job, always a pleasure watching you build things. Steve/Alex, can you let us know why it's was so tough, what's different on this porch that is more difficult than says another porch you have built of similar size.
Nice work there! These new regs for a cavity is insane! I want to build on top of an existing kitchen with a 65mm full fill cavity i built 10 years ago. Never gonna build a 150mm cavity on that. Plan is to extend the bathroom.
Love your countdown, you worked hard to get it done those blocks went up well no 150 mil insulation helped , keep up the good work thoroughly enjoyed it best regards Ken
Hello fellas glad you got the battery charger same one we use as I said at when you got the Milwaukee tools just load batteries up at start of day and swop dead batteries shoul 32:11 d never stop waiting for batteries porch looks good col from Oz
Hey Alex and Steve.. just want to say your both doing amazing work and I hope me and my boy has the same relationship as you both have when he is older! One question, I’m currently renovating our old barn into a house and the architect has put on our plans to use a wall starter kit attaching block work to stone walls.. my only concern with that is the wall isn’t flat.. would bluebird ties be a better option as you have used here ?
Haha the doors upside down. I’m surprised they didn’t notice. Question do you lads ever use rebar or wire mesh in your concrete footer or slabs? Keep up the good work and I enjoy your explanations unlike Bill H
Great job and a good watch .. must admit that offset door would drive me bonkers, but I assume the house layout won't allow it to be moved. The Australian door supplied looks different. Joking aside a really excellent job done there.

Alright steve and alex. Currently building an extension in ireland with a 200mm cavity the new norm here if the cavity is being pumped its torture all concrete blocks all over hand work 😔
Inner door definitely needs to be moved to a central position, where it is now looks so out of place and makes the porch second rate. (Not due to your workmanship guys) The Customer has to make that decision. 🖖👍

@@SteveAndAlexBuild It is where you either take off your boots or clean your shoes prior to entering a home. We don't see it to often in North America but have from time to time. Older districts it was standard now not so much.
Your house is a new build isn't it? Check you wont fall foul of contractual clauses in the purchase agreement by building a porch. Some of these new home builders put all sorts of things in for X amount of years after purchase to make sure they are well clear of liability's on the original planning agreements. I know Gleeson with their infamous gravel drives have a clause that stops you from putting in a proper driveway after purchase. They have actually took people to court for contravening this.

I disagree, the explanations and asides are a lot of what makes this channel great as far as I'm concerned. They're usually crisp and clear, and avoid the repetition I've seen on other channels.
I agree. Balance of explanations, timelapses, slo-mo's and real times is spot on in my opinion. I do sometimes rewind 20 secs or so and watch bits again if I miss a detail but I'm cool with that. I did think you were brave starting the block work a few hours after laying and trowelling the slab. If I had been on the job, there would have been mortar snots, bits of block, footprints, half eaten pies, coffee cups, tools and stuff embedded in the wet concrete. I'd probably have got booted off site 5 blocks into the job 😅😅.
That was a fiddly job , well done.
