Fabulous trail, a nice dusting of snow and a great 'granite' look out at Eagle's Nest. The indigenous people were right, this is a sacred place.. Thanks for sharing it with us...
Stunning spot! There's something so magical about warm-day snowfalls, when the snow sits thickly on the boughs. When it sticks to the tree trunks and hides the blazes though, that's another story!
I hope you'll share that story one day! Yes the snow made it very difficult to see the blazes but the footstep tracks in front of me really took out a lot of the guesswork. Thanks for the visit.
Absolutely beautiful winter scenery and great narrative. Nice to hear the history, especially the native history and interesting about the name. Awesome cliff views, man oh man. Thank you for taking me along. Stay warm.
Thanks again! It truly is a nice part of northeastern Ontario. It sounds from your many kind comments that you must live far away from here. Are you still somewhere in Ontario? Cheers, Daryl
@@flynorthproductions You actually met my brother at the fire tower in Willisville. I'm from that area, but currently live in Thunder Bay. I really enjoy the channel. Sometimes I know exactly where you're going, sometimes I know the general area, and sometimes, like this video, it's all new to me! Really great stuff, Daryl. - Jeff
Hi Jeff, yes I knew who you were and I do remember meeting your brother (Rob is it?) and his wife, I just couldn't remember if you already told me the region in which you were residing. Thunder Bay is in a spectacular part of Ontario, I love Lake Superior, especially the north and western shorelines. I really appreciate your thoughtful comments and I'm glad I can bring a little of your old home-town scenery to where you are now. Daryl
"A truly captivating winter adventure, Fly North! ❄🏞 Your journey to Eagle's Nest in Calabogie showcases the beauty of the snowy landscape, and the challenges you faced add a touch of realism to the experience. Learning about the history and culture of the area adds depth to the exploration. Thanks for taking us on this winter wonderland adventure - looking forward to more exciting trips on your channel! 🌨🥾 #WinterHiking #CalabogieAdventure #SnowyLandscape"
Thanks! I try to include a little bit of First Nations history when I can, but sometimes it's difficult to find a reliable source. I appreciate the feedback immensely!
I share your fascination with rock formations, Daryl. Glad to see you expanding your territory - this is also a beautiful region. And nothing beats the look of a winter forest after a fresh snowfall! Missed your hiking buddy . . . 😊
Brrrr! But the wintery landscape was just beautiful, and that view at the end was awesome. Whatever the meaning of Calabogie is, it's fun to say 😆. Thanks for bringing us along!
@@flynorthproductions I have a saying, "the older I get, the colder I get." I now usually use an extra layer of clothing when I hike. I think I know why retirees migrate to warm climates!
Wow! What wonderful winter landscape! Nice that you had some sunshine on your hike to enhance the freshly coated tree branches. The Eagle's Nest cliffs are awesome! I should definitely put this trail on my list to visit, especially in the fall. Bet the scenery is great!
That really is a winter wonderland. Lots of good shots here. It just snowed by me overnight. I need to shovel it again for the second time. Some of those drone views of the cliffs at the end looked awesome. 👍
Eagle’s Nest is very impressive! Awesome drone views- I’d love to see those sheer cliffs too! Fun surprise to have some snow- looks like it wasn’t too deep or slippery. Lots of nice trails there, would be fun to explore. Thanks for sharing more history of the people and place names. I love when places retain the native names, we have quite a bit around here… and I’d like to change more! Thanks Daryl, stay warm 😄👍👍❄️❄️- Jen
Now that is a beauty of a day for a walk! Having plenty of trouble with my batteries in the cold too...not sure how the electric vehicle batteries are going to perform in Canadian winters over time. Grand view for sure! Keep warm! Bruce and Otis
Everything is so different in the snow. The calm and quiet that sets in with a fresh blanket of snow is probably our favorite part of it 😊. Unfortunately we do not get a whole lot of it here on Vancouver Island, and when we do, it's that heavy wet stuff that turns into a slushy mess a few days later (it's happening right now). Thank You for taking us along on another beautiful hike 👍. All the best, Michelle and Holger 🙏
Beautiful the drone work is amazing 😊 but you confused me with the Eagles Nest part that’s in Bancroft you were at Manitou Mountain Lookout. I haven’t been to Manitou Mountain yet I better get up there sometime what a view. I also want to visit Griffith Uplands trail soon so many places to go.
Yeah, you had me worried there for a sec. I even double-checked the map and a photo I took of the sign at the trail head. All good. 😁 Thanks for mentioning Griffith Uplands, I had not heard of that trail before, it looks very nice. I've also got Sugar Mountain on my list, also near Calabogie, south of Wabun Lake. Looks great as well. You're right, so many great spots out your way. Thanks for watching and commenting, Cheers. Daryl
@@flynorthproductions you’re welcome I was thinking some of these locations would be amazing in the fall for the colours. It’s a pretty area I always called it the highlands 😊
@@caseyoingo6440 No doubt. If you do come across a trail or lookout you like, please feel free to let me know, but hopefully you'll document your visit in a video. 👍
@@flynorthproductions definitely will😊 I was dying to get out Saturday after the snow storm but I had to deal with snow removal 🙄 My snow blower broke twice first a sheer pin bolt and then it threw the auger belt off so bad it smashed the plastic belt cover. Luckily I can fix things myself lol. I need to get out soon though I am all out of footage to upload.
Great hike! I love to see the snow out there 😁 Nice that the trail was broken in for you. Great drone footage! Do you have battery problems at that temperature? Do the props ice up at all?
I bet you are glad the snow is out... here. 😁 The drone batteries are excellent - no significant degradation. The props did not ice up - but thanks for giving me something new to worry about. 😉
