You are an absolute genius at explaining these concepts and giving us practical techniques. I love that you don't shy away from big bodies. You also use noticeably frank but kind terminology. Finally, it's clear that your goal is to help all women feel comfortable and confident (vs. any kind of desperation or making ourselves up just for the pleasure of men). Thank you so much. ❤
My only complaint is that you didn't hop in a time machine to tell my teenage self how to manage all this chest 35 years ago. LOL. Its taken me decades to sort of figure out a lot of these tips that you've been able to articulate so clearly. The double-bubble silhouette thing has been the unnameable bane of my existence for so long. Definitely love showing some wrist, neck, & ankle. Hopefully this wisdom will find some dearly developed teen and change the course of their life without the decades of disastrous trial and error. Thank you. :)
As a romantic with a large dress who also hates belts, this was helpful! Fighting against the oversized boxy look which is everywhere is hard. It’s either boxy or cropped. Why can’t we have regular shirts? I miss peplums
Thank you!!! You've covered every large-bust challenge without offering the same solution: wrap dresses. May I contribute? Minimizer bras are not your friend. They reduce the projection of your bust by lowering and re-distributing the volume towards your waist and sides. Unless you have a very long torso, the definition needed in the midsection will be completely lost. That photo of the woman in the plaid jacket 8:53 is the typical result. Also, be sure sleeves end way above or below the bustline to avoid widening that area. Excellent analysis, Aly, as always. Appreciate you!
Yes! Thank you for mentioning minimizer bras! I hate them lol... I used to wonder why I looked even Bigger once I put my clothes on and was so frustrated. They just made it look like 2 giant smashed pancakes on my chest 😭 I finally found my favorite bra and look much better.
I appreciate this comment! Though, i do wear a minimizer bra and ive had positive results from it. I think what saves me is that my natural waistline is roughly 5" lower than where the bra ends, so it seems to look more natural. And i love what you added about the sleeves! I never thought of that... no wonder i hate regular tshirt sleeves!
I just want to reiterate what chalmer31 said: you break down and explain these concepts so well, and speak frankly but respectfully about body characteristics. That is the best form of shame reduction there is. We are who we are, why pretend? Thanks for your work. P.S. can you do an update on the makeup for 50+, like you did for your mom?
Surprisingly to me, I found that I’m already doing most of these things. However, this was very helpful in understanding WHY I look/feel better dressing this way!
From a 36 DDD how wonderful for you to even think of us!! This has always been an issue for me! Going into detail the way you do is very helpful and kind. Thank you so much for taking the time to address our concerns!!❤
Also want to recommend alterations! If you start with something that has potential they can make such a big difference. So for example the clothes I get altered do suit an hourglass shape before being altered, they just aren’t as extreme as I need them to be. It’s much harder to alter something that isn’t even close to working!
SG ... you nailed it, Aly! One other thing... if you are buying tops large enough to skim the chest a good seamstress can bring in the shoulders and shorten the armhole.. when the armhole is too deep it can create a fold that brings attention to bust
Hi, can you please make a video for silhouettes with thick thighs and butt? And advice on hip dips would be really appreciated. Thank you so so much Aly!
I really appreciate your attention to detail, down to the size of the stripes! I am a woman with a generous chest and all your advice seems very accurate. I am not a big fan of belts, I find them restricting and uncomfortable so I choose dresses or blouses with darts at the waist or stretchy fabrics. It is a personal preference because you are absolutely right about them.
I'm the same size. Having big breasts on a small body frame is so hard to dress. Not only do fashion designers ignore us but for the most part so do bra manufacturers.
Good topic to cover! I have a suggestion I've never seen to be spoken about. I have an S shape spine, so my stomach always sticks forward. It's not so obvious from the front, but really visible from the side. So when i wear a belt my stomach area appears even bigger. It haunts me. And i know I'm not the only one, so maybe you'll find a way to figure this out. Thank you, Aly! Спасибо за помощь, Алёна!
Omg she actually gets it. I think she's the first I've seen online. I'm so tired of the high waisted crap because it instantly makes me look overweight, bubble over bubble! I miss lower waist lines that hit just above the hips. Now everything has gravitated to the midwaist or just under the bust, and I'm dying in this fashion trend. Thank you, Aly!
Right? My upper body is long, but I barely have one inch between my lowest rib and my hip bone. Can't wear wide belts at all. Then the distance between my waist and my crotch is short, so high waist pants just kinda dangle low between my legs. And not in a cool way! 😅
I recognize a certain actress. I think she actually pulled off the odd pattern with beige colors in Firefly, but her dress was really fitted around her waist.
thank you for this 😊 being very thin i always felt very sad how some pieces i like so much, like long dress with higher waist, looked so bad on me and dresses with a very defined waist, that i dont feel much confortable with looked a lot better. Never really realized my big chest, that i never had any issues with, had such a massive influence 😄 it will be nice to know how to play with styles a bit better
NOW THIS IS THE VIDEO I NEEDED!!!! I needed this video for years! I always buy any top that has elastane/stretch so it doesn’t have that tent effect! I’m slim but with a big chest. 32I 😣😊
Finally. I have never seen a useful video for larger breasted women. It is so much easier to dress when you don't have a heavy chest to consider. This advice was so good. I am very dmall backed, measured at a 30G, but even though I'm tiny, I loften ook huge in photos because people always take them from the chest up and miss the waist. I have to define my waist. I don't like showing cleavage though. My favourite thing to fo is wearing heavier fabrics. I have some looser jumpers that drape over my hest and then glide over my waist, giving an elongated silhouette
Showing a bit of your clavicule could help! It sounds like you may have beautiful delicate clavicules and neck. A not Deep V-neck or a something between crew neck and boat neck can help with the openess without showing cleavage at all and actually making you look your size in pictures!
4:46 This is the reason why I dislike high rise pants. You can see that the lady on the right is actually wearing the belt *at her waist level* , not above. Sometimes the torso is just that short; mine is like that on the pic (so much so that empire waist sometimes look like regular waist on me). All that to say that if your natural waist is so high up in your torso, you have to _fake_ it's slightly below; for example (going back to pants) medium rise will look much better.
SD here. I need a medium or large when it comes to tops because of my large chest. But I'm really in general a size small everywhere else. The curves make that area an extra size up. The problem is there is then no waist emphasis w/o the belt, making it look like I'm wearing a potato sack. No shape just large looking. It's really best to waist cinch. Also some fabrics like thick crochet sweater, even waist cinching isn't enough. Fabrics matter too
Hi Aly!! Thank you for this video, it was terrific! I'm a short waist, big chest girl 36 D. And i can't wear flowers on my blouses (i look matronely). I also have difficulty with belts. I only use them lower (almost at my hip bone area) when i wear a blaser, knowing that i will not take it off. I like to wear dresses with nature patterns, V and square necks. That said, in the winter i wear lots of clothes that i can't get away in the spring/summer: pants. Mind you, I'm an hourglass figure and i have 52 kg (which is not much for my size: 1m63cm. If I try to wear heavy knits without thinking, i like become Spong Bob, reaaaaally fast.
For fall/winter, Cableknit sweaters work really well. They're stretchy enough to accommodate the chest but not too clinging in the waist. The knit pattern distracts the eye. Round neck and v next are flattering. I add a bold statement earring and bright makeup to draw attention to my face instead of my bust. You can wear them with any type of bottom and looks great with blue jeans and pants.
@sarastewart2633 Are you thinking about the ones with the vertical stripes? Those are the only ones that work for me, but I also have a broad shoulder.
What looks amazing on me is a long slimfit sweater with V-neck! It elongates my torso ( ends where legs start 😊), flatters my figure, balances the twins (especially with bootcut pants), cozy, chic, warm, but sooooo hard to find! 😢
Love your videos! It would be helpful to add some text or markings on the pictures you include and explain if they’re showing something you should avoid or keep doing.
Ohhh thank you so much for this video Aly! I have heard "you must look good in anything" so many times, which is nice, of course, but not true at all. There are really few clothes that accomodate bigger chests without looking like a potato sack😅
What I dislike more about my chest is that clothes that are cute and flirty in regular or small-chested women actually look or too sexy/revealing on me or the complete opposite, aka, the potato sack. Oh, and the need of a bra all the time, even in a heat wave
Yep... and the trend of quite high rise, wide leg trousers will make you look like a boobs on legs. Fat legs. Also, I have short waist and quite big boobs, and belts are no-go, unless on the hips.
Hello Aly, I just watched you videos and thought maybe you can make a paid analysis of my skin type and what hair colour would match to my tone? ❤Unfortunately I try out for many years and nothing matched 100%. It would be a pleasure to get to know my tone by you❤
These tips were very helpful. I'll add them to my playlist. I'm a plus size soft natural. I'd love to know how to balance a big bust, wide chest and apron belly. All the focus is on my torso and I struggle with more fitted items. I can only French tuck so much. Any suggestions?
Trust me, it is easier for you than me, I am also inverted triangle and busty but OMG, I am tall so nothing fits my shoulders, arms and I just look fat in every top that is not tight :/
This is ME. I wear long sleeve scoop neck bodysuits with A line flare midi skirts. Top it all with something long like a maxi cardigan or coat. Unfortunately those kinds of skirts are almost impossible to find. Ive had to have a few custom made 😭 I think sarah Jessica Parker is a great style icon for us
@@ssk363 Nothing fits our shoulders either. To get the breasts in the shoulders then become too wide. It's no different. I have more pants in my wardrobe than I will ever need and almost no tops as it is impossible to find one's that work and you feel good in.

I have big chest and pretty narrow hips and I’m so insecure about my body type. My pants size is xs and shirt has to be two or three sizes bigger for me to be comfortable… also finding the right bra is nightmare
Not a blessing !!! Just had a reduction, but it only took me down from an E to a D. Going back in! Also... Not having much of a waist (FN) is not helpful to create the illusion of a waist.
