Yeah,,, i used to be tiny, so easy to dress in ballerina tops. now at 64 and having children,,,NOT tiny. the only thing i can do is keep my weight close to normal as possible, and find good thick camisoles with smooth support. the camisoles can minimize your breast area, so clothes can flow more smoothly down your chest area, I also started using Progesterone, which counteracts having TOO much Estrogen (as you get older it happens),,, The Progesterone Cream i buy onlne Natural Progesterone from YAMS,,,,,,, NO progesterone pills fromm dr.. Never. it does release water from your body and estrogen dominant females retain water in their breasts and tummy,,, But,, SEE a NATURE Dr. before you do it, If you read about it and talk to people who use it, you'd prob have more balance

Thank you for addressing the fact that a white dress shirt doesn't work on everyone. I keep trying to make it work and I look AWFUL in them. Giving the tip about more of an off-white is really helpful.

Your videos have given me the understanding of why certain clothing does or doesn't work for me. I'm a soft classic, 5'2", with a short waist. Love skirts, cardigans, flat knit tops/sweaters. I never felt fabulous in a white shirt or blazer as they were too severe. I have built the perfect wardrobe for me, and it doesn't feel boring ❤

    • @JustMe-gs9xi

I'd LOVE to see your wardrobe lol,,, i could use some inspiration,,, five' 3" short waist,,, // your not crazy about pants too much either i guess.// yes collared shirts look RIdiculous on me,,,,, petite face and all these flapping things too big and close. Awful. Blazers too, im like a man that doesn't wear suits, lol. Too constricting and heavy looking,,,, a Soft Classic needs Soft Clothing,,,,, I used to wrap a shirt up in a ball and Throw it up in the air,,,, if it fell softly and settled on a chair or something, i knew it was perfect,,, soft to match me. If it falls down a bit slow it just means it good strong material. if it plops in shoulders all stiff,, no way. A soft woman, i believe, should show her soft neckline in v neck or ballerina scoop tops. Show the delicateness of that area, its harmony with who we are,,,, does it make sense??? i can't stand anything tight up to my neck!,,,, If a shirt looks too open, i grab a simple light scarf.

I think basics will change a little in the coming years.
Personally I have seen a rise in historical and vintage fashion for quite some time now and I believe that will soon reflect on 'basic' wardrobes because the basic foundation garments back then were frankly genius. I have looked into these things myself (made some historical garments) and found that our great great grandmothers were so smart and intelligent about what they wore. Many things were SOOOOO practical and comfortable.
The huge long dresses and the bustles and hoops are what we all think of, but there is so much more there and I think it is worthwhile to combine the good of the past and the present to create a better future.
Just take bras for an example - they're so uncomfortable! But back then the stays, jumps, corsets (yes even those!), did the job much better and more comfortably.
Anyways, I appreciate Aly for all this good info she always brings!❤

@@maryokeefe5351 I agree with the lady above. People were smart about how to layer and what fabrics to wear. I watched a video about corsets and one interesting fact I learned about corsets is that they were not made to be constricting. They were actually there to support your torso and chest. For example, your stomach size will fluctuate throughout the day and the corset will help keep it supported but not make the wearer feel uncomfortable or constricted.

    • @annalynn9325

I was always wearing jeans, but during my pregnancies I just slowly progressed to ankle length skirts and dresses and never came back. I currently own quite a lot of skirts and dresses and only 3 pairs of trousers (and even those are quite old) - thick jeans for winter (I'm sometimes afraid I may fall and don't want to destroy my woolen skirt or dignity... in this order :D), brown corduroy pants that I wear with an orange turtleneck during "Indian Summer" (I probably need corduroy skirt, but I don't have one) and one pair of sweatpants for when we like move furniture or do similar works when the skirt may be dangerous (or get damaged). There's something really satisfying when a rich skirt moves around your ankles, I don't know why, it just feels right.

Always had a beef with the white shirt (even though I look striking in white, and only wear shirts lol). But now since I realised I'm a Dramatic, it's not the white shirt which is the issue, its the cut of siluett, since the classic way to wear it (as a woman) is with black pants, very strong colors blocking. Doesn't suit me at all. Might also be like you said in the -00 we wore the short very figure fitted shirts, and they where all to petite on me.

.As a SD it’s all about the drape and as a deep autumn, the color needs to be right. Summer wardrobe changed for me when I realized that linen blends and cream were my go tos for looking casual yet elegant. I live in linen dresses with belts. I live in Mexico it works for me. I can not wear denim unless it’s a chambray.

@@pawsation7719 yes it’s very hard as a SD to feel feminine in denim. The fabric is too stiff. It does not move or denim the body. It requires lots of layers which is fine I. The colder months covered by a gorgeous coat. I have even tried denim skirts and just too stiff.

My all time, all seasons favorite is a black top and white or cream wideish leg pants cropped or full length, or a cobalt blue silk shirt and loseish black tie waist pants. A black leather blazer is the cherry on top in cooler months. A burgundy bag is an extra.

Touching on the shirts section vs. the t-shirt section. I know you said around 12:30 that "you don't want a very cropped and sleek" shirt, it's not in vogue. But the problem with a soft body, one that has minimum to none angles in it, is that any other type of shirt is going to look like one is wearing a starchy tablecloth. As a romantic with no angles in her body I declare that any non-sleek shirt makes me look like I'm a very obvious girl trying too hard to look like a boy. I have to have a pronounced waist in my top and if no other options exist other than blousy it will just have to be the childlike sleek type. Same goes for t-shirts, it's a related topic. I feel, in fact, that a decade ago my style was a bit more refined because I would intuitively wear more elegant clothing and avoid t-shirts altogether. But, frankly, I'm a human too and I want simplicity and convenience every once in a while. And while all these tie-up shirts to highlight the waist, and blousy stuff that looks like I've never stepped in dirt with bare feet make me look classy and appropriate for my body type I, too, like the rest of the ladies, want to throw on a simple t-shirt and move on with it some days. Yet, I don't want to look like a teen trying to hide their puberty, which is what today's stylish straight and loose clothing make me, a 35-year-old woman, look like. So I do have to put sleek shirts and t-shirts on and just let them hug my body and my waist. I find that these "childlike" tops, ironically, fit me best and don't clash with my body type if I crave some simplicity.

A fitted classic shirt looks great on romantics like Selma, Marilyn etc.. I used to avoid them until I found a seamstress that could alter around my curves without making me look (what is a kind word?)

    • @OlgaRykov
      @OlgaRykov 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@lisajburden3274 classic shirts are too long for me, since my hips begin bulging out right after my short waist. So any classic shirt that isn't, in fact, CROPPED and sleek (or fitted) makes me look like I'm trying mommy's shirt on. And cropping and fitting a shirt creates a completely different article than what it originally was. I prefer finding one that suits me to begin with and it won't be the classic type or the type that is popular today: those will not look good on me without multiple alterations, which would defeat the purpose of that article in the first place.

Even though I have a short torso I find that because my hourglass figure has a very rounded shape (even an inch below my natural waist is close to my hip width from the front) and because I'm a more yin type, I have to wear high waisted bottoms in order to not look stocky. What I do to minimuse how short my chest looks is not wearing a belt (unless it's fabric and can bend into the curve) and I wear a more open curved neckline to add more visual weight to the chest. I also find wearing slightly cropped trousers helps to make my legs look more proportional to my body (double the benefit since tapering at the ankle is more flattering for my body type). I also prefer wearing dresses instead of skirts, since the waist seam is so much less bulky than a skirt's waistband, so it's better at highlighting my waist while being less constricting

I liked the idea of a capsule wardrobe to reduce decision fatigue but none of the videos I’ve seen were helpful for me. They were mostly american and even though I also live in a western country what’s perceived as basic is different, no one considers a blazer basic for example. So many body types here and a huge fashion market just make me think maybe you don't know where to look for, it's not a matter of availability. You should definitely check out second hand options, both in physical stores and online (personally, I prefer online because a search engine is a huge time saver). It requires a small learning curve, like knowing how to interpret rl photos and taking your measurements appropriately, but after that I guarantee you all that you'll be dressing like queens. Shirts are possibly the trickiest items of all the basics IMO. I'm a pure gamine, and I look good in basically any style of t-shirt. The regular relaxed standard t-shirt, fitted, cropped, boxy, anything really, as long as the neckline isn't too low. But for shirts it's much more difficult. I almost always find the classic button up shirt looks way too stiff/formal/masculine on me. Even the ones that are fitted and have princess seams. One of the best shirts I ever owned was fitted at the waist and had a bit of a peplum. Otherwise I need more of a blouse or something in a flowy fabric. I'm not busty or very fleshy, but like romantics I can't handle the sharpness of a classic shirt at all. But a more masculine style of t-shirt is just fine.

I don't know what body type I am...but my shoulders are super narrow, flat chest, but not short. 5'5 - not so long legs, I'd say quite proportionate to chest (or chest slightly "taller"): for tank tops, I really like thin delicate straps like the top you're wearing or medium straps. I never liked t shirts on me, I think mainly because I don't like my thin arms and I see them too skinny. I somehow like oversized t shirts on me. Something more close to the body makes me feel quite uneasy somehow. I don't think they look bad at all, just I don't love the look on me...I think I am quite angular and look good with a formal office-like look, but I just hate how it feels. I used to like that feeling of close to the body/more tight feeling, but now I'm all into flowy and soft materials, not baggy but definitely more relaxed and spacious.

I’m quite tall (174cm) but when I did the kibbe test most of my answers fell on the dramatic classic side which actually works quite well with a lot of my fav pieces (except my personal style goes more towards something that I’d call “business-punk”) the reason I’m pointing it out is because I also have a very short torso in comparison to my legs but I actually really like how high waisted straight leg pants look on me. I personally think you can never have enough leg lol. The only place that I have to balance it out really is the back so I’d usually wear a French tuck shirt with that so I don’t look like I have a long ass lol

Good video but I just want to say, that while cheaper fabric can be (and usually is) worse quality, it has nothing to do with wrinkling, it's almost all to do with the fibres used to make the fabric.
Linens and cottons will wrinkle quite easily (linen especially wrinkles in an instant) while polyesters, nylons and wools will resist wrinkling a lot more. This is why you usually see linen (and some cotton) blended with fibres like polyester.

I'm not sure about my Kibbe type, I'm a dark autumn, and I look horrid in almost everything I wear. My self eestem is long gone. So I'm settling on long dark cloaks and headwraps.

Deep jewell toned colors are great for dark autumn- wine red, warm reds, deep teals, salmon, cream, dark warm navy, forest green. There are alot of dark autumn color charts on Google. Once I knew my kibbe type and color season dressing became so much easier. It's a work in progress.

Kibbe does not include the shape or size of the buttocks in his typing system. If you are a Romantic, this will not change as it is determined by your skeletal structure primarily.

Are you still fleshy? Are your features (not just facial ones, but shoulders, hands, etc) short and/or rounded? Make yourself that type of general questions. If you focus on just one part of your body (butt, chest...) it will be harder to know your type.

Soft gamine with a very curvy body here! I thought wearing rounded pieces like slightly cinched blazers with rounded lapels would work for me. Oh no, no, no, that nake my look like a plush toy. Same with cardigans, just too much hanging, too much symmetry. Now I go for school boy style for my formal outfits, and maybe a touch of funky in my shoes or in my shirts.

I honestly think that most of today's clothes are made for more angular women, being more curvy makes it hard to find almost anything that sits well. So I buy mostly vintage or repro brands because they accommodate my curves

7:03 agreed, I hate the high rise look, especially on ppl like me with short torsos, it looks so stupid. Or people with a huge fupa.. why would you wear a high rise light denim to even draw more attention to it? Somehow this has become a trend in recent year.. Just go mid rise and then wear a looser top over it. It can still look cute/nice/sexy whatever

Does anybody know if it is possible to send Aly a picture of myself so she can help me determine what my body type is? I have been trying to figure it out for a really long time and I am still not sure. Especially since I fluctuate in my weight quite a lot it confuses me when I try to analyze my body type. Or If I can get help from someone trusted anywhere else. Thanks a lot for any responce.

Am I the only one that wears the same thing everyday? I’m a soft dramatic with a cool and bright skin tone. All I ever wear are T-shirts and black yoga pants lol. If I wanna dress up, which is incredibly rare, I’ll wear a black dress. As a mom, it’s comfort over everything

      Hi friend!
      YOU are not alone-
AND you described my go- to, daily outfits to a tee; black yoga pants (normally always choose black, but i do have some grays/prints as well) paired with either a tee shirt or a tank top (weather dictating)!
That is literally what I wear on a daily basis-
unless I have to go somewhere to look "presentable"/"professional", in which case I, too grab a dress.
      And-
I am also a SD, and in my case have cool and olive undertones.

Finding clothes I like that fit deep autumn colours that I like to wear, clothes that are very soft , fit my personal style and are narrow and delicate is so difficult that I don't think I have a single item that 100% fits all of those points. It's very difficult to get any items to fit at least most of those points . For instance, I bought a great skirt the other day that I just loved, then I put it on and it looked ridiculous on me because it had a criss cross belt attached with buckles and it looked so ridiculously oversized on me and hid my waist, it was like someone putting human clothes on a doll .

More on the Low Rise Pants,, She shows at 7:26 -- The woman on the right, with the white low rise jeans. She has a HUGELY LONG TORSO, Compared to Me... I have maybe HALF the length of that torso,, Maybe even LESS than half. And,, i have some 'junk in the trunk',, J.Lo before she lost this recent weight,, (she need to get her BUTT back). So the low rise makes me look normal. And the way it sort of curves down in front, makes the JLo butt look very sexy and shows that asset Just Right,,,A low rise pant has a Curve to it the waistline is curved, not straight... so us Curvy Romantics do like to wear pants once in a while,, Those straight how waist with a curvy full butt and going UP over the belly,,,, AWFUL,,,, Romantics with Very SHORT SMALL Torso,,,, and longer legs i think low rise is sexy, curvy, shows our body shape, (Romantics shouldn't look like BOXES),,, Nooooo,,, no boses. And for a shirt/top, Something that skims the body, but doesn't CLING/HUG to the breasts and waist are better.... I like to wear very feminine cuts with low rise jeans,,, OR a very basic black nice knit top ALWAYS works,,, It was my 'uniform' when i didn't have alot of money. It's still one of my favorite looks... And a hoodie,, cool sweater,, loose bloosy kind of longer sweater,,, It's hard for us romantics to STAY in a certain size jeans,,, lol. But it's worth the effort.
