Great video, exactly what i was looking for. I'm trying to calculate the cost of materials for my garden before i consider rendering - could you please specify the exact product you used? Would be greatly appreciated!

It is usually bags of K-REND render, I’m guessing the K rend one coat has been used. Per bag it covers 1.4m2, so by doing a 1mx1m surface you would require one bag maybe1 and a bit or 2 if using the method. They are £10/15 a bag from b&q and places similar. Hope this helps x

I have a retaining garden wall about hip height, its a single skin red brick wall, and I attempted to render it, however it all peeled and cracked off after a year. I've been told its due to water coming through the brick and blowing the render.
What are my options? Should I use rendaid then ocr? How has this wall held up? Is there any dpm behind that block?

Great video and the wall looks brill!. Question would I need to pin waterproofing sheets to the inside of the wall before filling with soil or not?

You have just shown what that garden could look like 🤞 the customer wants you to ‘do’ the entire area . Really smart job

Do you have to add anything behind the wall to not damage the wood?

Noticed that you don’t need a base coat like with k rend hp12. How does this compare with the k rend?
Can you go on to brickwork with the Webber used here on the garden wall?
I’m thinking on using the k rend approach on my garden brick walls. Have been advised to prime with h7 and then base coat ho12 with mesh?
Loving the content bro, very informative. 👍🏽👊🏽

Yes you can use it directly. You can also do the same with Krend. As long as youre happy with the wall is going on to. If in doubt then uses a basecoat. you can just embed the krend into the top coat

    Hi
I’m just about to apply tc in KRend on my garden wall and noticed at the end of this video you had applied render at the rear of the wall. Did you use mesh or just feathered it down? Also is it ok to leave the stop beads out? I’m having to go to my job in the morning as it rained all day today, so as it’s going to be hot tomorrow can I scratch it in the afternoon? I bet it will go off pretty quick in the heat and I don’t fancy going in Sunday? 😋

Does it need drainage. The surrounds don't do the wall justice, like someone else said it'd be good to see it finished.

It can drown down below. Doesn’t need it on the sides. We will eventually come back and do the patio. It’s just when we can find the time lol

Firstly, thanks for another great video.
I was curious to see that there were no coping stones or cap stones on the top which made me think that later down the line this would encourage streak marks on the wall over time? Was that ever the case when you went back after some time to check? Cheers

Hi I’ve got some concrete planters in my garden made from breeze blocks like the ones in this video and thought I’d follow your video to render the walls. Can I ask what your using to screw and secure the beading ? I’ve been out today and purchased some cross head multi purpose screw at wickes and I cannot for the life of get them to screw fully into the concrete they get stuck half way and my Mcallister drill is strripping the heads.
Can I ask, Are you using a specific head like torx or masonry screws at all if so could I ask what you are using? Any help would be appreciated :)

@@ThePistol1977 i ended up sticking them on with somehing called no nonsense grab white tube with green writing from screwfix, and have now successfully done 3 large planters and really happy with the outcome, my advice do it in big blobs every 10 inches or sometthing and position it how you like. Its even better that nails or screws tbh as it has less chance of the rust coming through the render too :)

@@ThePistol1977 oh and instead of sawing the corner of those beads buy a set of tin snips, they will make life much much easier and noticed this guy doesnt float the wall (not sure why) but most people will tell you floating is THE most important part of rendering it pushes the cement into the surface to make sure it doesnt come away from the wall
. plenty of videos on here about it but weve been following this guy th-cam.com/video/-O5r4NhIwSI/w-d-xo.html

    • @darrenthebuilder
      @darrenthebuilder  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Hi Liam glad you got it sorted. Sorry I missed your comment. I imagine the reason you screws didn’t work is because you were using concrete blocks. In the video I used thermalise blocks which are easy to
Screw or nail into with no problems. Also when rendering with Weber (the product I used in the video) you do not float the wall. You only float if using a cement based render. Weber and Krend are. It cement based renders so you don’t float finish them. Hope that helps. Peace.

@@darrenthebuilder thanks your video helped as it was a similar situation although yeah breeze blocks so makes sense.
We have used Weber one cost render (blue label) on ours and it says on the packet to float ? I take it your using a different type of Weber one coat like the monocouch? Be good to know which Weber coat you use that doesn’t need floating as we found the floating part the hardest work tbh lol 😂 anything to skip that would be amazing and may use what you recommend on our main walls.
