I had the opportunity to play with the machine a little when it was basically brand new. Even then there was more backlash on the leadscrew than there is now. Very well done brother! And to top it off you managed to get it that accurate with a half nut that was essentially dead! I tip my hat to you good sir!
Hi Eugene. I pulled out the leadscrew to test the fit while the nut was still clamped in the chuck. That is the only way to keep the timing spot on. It took me two days (including the failed nut) to get it right. If I left it for a week later, I would have had to buy another half-nut as the worn nut would have failed completely. It was already slipping under load.
Nice Nico Sien jy het minder gesukkel as wat ek gesukkel het toe ek dit vir die eerste keer gedoen het. My eerste ½ nut was regsom draad 🙈. Het ook vreeslik gesukkel om die key op te line met die slot in die leadscrew. En met die chinkie werkmanskap maak dit nie maklik nie. Alles is skeef en sommer net met die vry hand gedoen. Welgedaan ou maat. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥇
Good job man, how long does it take to the half nut to die I have see many videos in your channel I guess this is the frist time you replace the half nut

Well done sir,thanks
Thank you, Pat! All is in ship-shape now.
Gotta love a machine that fixes itself. Did you make a dummy leadscrew to test your nut or did you just wing it ? Thats a lot of work.
