I really agree with your placing of the albums, but I think Prequelle is overlooked a lot since it came after the godsend that was Meliora! It may have a short track list, but it means that every melodic song is well-thought out, with the only fillers being instrumental tracks. I also love how each major song almost falls into a different genre, with Faith being a headbanger, Rats and See the Light being more pop-y, Danse Macabre and Witch Image as 80s retro jams, and finally Life Eternal and Pro Memoria as symphonic power ballads. You can tell the intent behind every song, and they’re all fantastic’

Learning about Ghost after the release of Impera I think it really gives a whole different perspective than the older fans of Ghost. I feel Impera is by a long shot there best Album. I listened to all of them in the last few days and My order would be. 1. Impera 2, Meliora 3. Prequelle 4.Opus Eponymous 5.Infestissumam. I think its hard for Fans of any band when you heard all their music as it came out to except change thus many older fans of the band find the newer music not as good. But when you come in and start with no expectation you are much more open to the whole picture so that's just my take on the band .
I’m really enjoying Impera, and I think your review is pretty much spot-on. What an incredibly catchy album! Your ranking isn’t too far from my mine, I’d probably go with: 1. Meliora 2. Opus Eponymous 3. Prequelle 4. Impera 5. Infestissumam, but I’ve only given Impera 3 listens so far and I think it might move ahead of Prequelle once I listen more.
My rank is 1. Opus Eponymous-S 2. Meliora-S 3. Impera-A 4. Infestissumam-A 5. Prequelle-B The energy in the new record is great, BUT, track number nine feels like Marky-Mark, Donnie, Joey, and Danny had something to do with it. Those are the only NKOTB members I know.
I think Impera has many great and catchy songs, but as an old Ghost fan (since Opus) I cannot think of this album as of Ghost album. Their first 3 releases were all about occultism with creepy guitar riffs and mystic atmosphere. Back then they were anonymous satanic cult and now it is just Tobias Forge with hired musicians and polished sound. Spillways and Griftwood sound exactly like Subvision songs, previous Tobias' band. The album is well-written in general, although some songs like Twenties and CMLS sound too tedious IMO. I just can't think of this album as of a Ghost album, even in the bands' early interviews they said that if they reveal their identities, it stops being Ghost anymore.
My ranked. S. Meliora A. Opus B. Infestissumam, Prequelle C. Impera I like Impera, but i was looking for more Ghost sounding music, trying to change things up made it sound less original to me in my opinion. would have preferred more Watcher in the Sky, Twenties, Hunters Moon and Call Me as they are my favorites.
Agree on your comments and review. Love the new album, and feel it's definately their most accomplished. Best? Its hard to say. I think Melora has a better defined purpose, or "vibe", but Impera is better on many counts - its highs are beyond anything Ghost have done before.
@@MetalTrenches haha no worries! Just been a crazy music week for me. Couple of singles I’m reacting to. May check out this album but I’m really not a big fan of theirs.

Prequelle is no 1..then impera 2nd..then the first album opus ..miliora then the second album last...I know that's pretty unpopular but prequelle was just awesome
You know what makes Ghost really great? I checked so many album rankings and they are so different. Some albums are the best for some fans and other albums are the best for other fans. For instance look at Iron Maiden (whom I really like and respect), most almost all rankings are like this: Blaze albums, No Prayer... FotD are on the bottom, while Number of the Beast, Powerslave, Seventh Son... are on the top. Most fans agree. However, in case of Ghost the opinion of the fans are so inconsistent and I think this makes the band very interesting. My personal ranking (best to "not the best"): 1. Prequelle 2. Meliora (very close second) 3. Impera 4. Infestissumam 5. Opus Eponymous (you might agree or disagree)
Respect your opinion, but totally disagree with the placement of Infesstisumam. It’s my favorite album of Ghost with Meliora being a close second. But that’s just MY opinion. 🤘🏼
After giving Impera a listen I was pleasantly surprised. I happen to like it better than Prequelle but nothing Ghost does will top Opus Eponymous. Here would be my ranking: 5. Prequelle 4. Infestissumam 3. Impera 2. Meliora 1. Opus Eponymous
Impera and Meliora are probably the only ghost albums where all songs are gold. The other three may have great standout tracks, but some less interesting songs too.
Hey Dude. Spillways might remind you of Foreigner’s You‘re as cold as Ice. The song did this to me. 😅✌🏼 As I already type… I got a stream a week before release and am shocked, that the version that was released is not the same. Have you noticed that, too?
I like the first 3 albums best. Prequelle really popped my fan boy bubble. I'll get the new album, but it's going to be the make or break album for me, and I'm really not excited about it. When I'm in the mood it's usually the first 2 I put on, because I like those 2 the most. I like the third one, but I got bored of the slicker, more streamlined, songs quicker.
How does everyone mess up Cirice? The video, the mother literally says the girls name.. 🤣 Cirice sounds almost identical to Clairice. It cracks me up every time. Because reactors will be in front of the music video and the woman says “hurry up Cirice, we’re going to be late”. Then the reactor will start saying let’s get back into circle, cirsee, circel. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I called it Circe for awhile because of Circe from the odyssey, than I saw the single cover with the moth that was a take on silence of the lambs and saw the music video.
@@MetalTrenches Thanks. Actually I just found your channel because I was searching for Impera reviews. I don't understand all the positive reviews. To me Ghost has passed their zenith with Impera. It's not a bad album, just not as good as the others, except for the production which is top notch. But I find the songwriting underwhelming and the two singles hinted at that already. Unfortunately, Hunter's Moon is one of the better songs on the album. I really hope it will grow on me, but honestly I can't see the potential. But many thanks for mentioning Twin Temple! Didn't know them and now I have something new to listen that I actually like :)
Fair list. I disagreel, but it all comes to taste. Here's mine 1. Impera 2. Meliora 3. Prequelle 4. Opus Eponymus 5. Infestissumam I feel Impera is their best one yet. Very addictive hooks on all tracks, while still keeping to being heavy. I feel like the more poppy direction of Prequelle and the more heavy and proggy direction of Meliora came together synched in a beautiful fashion on Impera.
Hello, just dropped by to see your opinion on the newest album since i agreed with your opinion on Hushed and Grim by Mastodon. Honestly the newest ghost record just doesnt do it for me, it continues the path that Prequelle started, with way poppier and major sounding songs. I would preffer Prequelle to Impera since theres Faith, a song that imo beats all other songs on two newest records plus miasma and helvetesfonster are great compositions, with sax solo or really well done medieval theme. When it comes to this album i enjoyed call me little sunshine and watcher in the sky, they feel pretty well done instrumentally and vocal wise. The only "heavy song" i would say can be Twenties that besides awesome intro and main riff kinda becomes cheap in terms of lyrics and its execution. I was really into doomier, slower and darker tracks that first two albums had to offer, especially the choir and strong influence of church music themes.

FoI, thanks so much for the tip on Twin Temple -- that is golden!
Anytime!
1. Meliora
2. Opus Eponymous
3. Prequelle
4. Impera
5. Infestissumam
I literally can’t stop listening
Meliora
Impera
Infestissumam
Prequelle
Opus Eponymous
S: Meliora, Opus Eponymous
A: Impera
B: Infestissumam
C: Prequelle
My rank is
1. Opus Eponymous-S
2. Meliora-S
3. Impera-A
4. Infestissumam-A
5. Prequelle-B
The energy in the new record is great, BUT, track number nine feels like Marky-Mark, Donnie, Joey, and Danny had something to do with it. Those are the only NKOTB members I know.
lol
I could see how long time fans might feel that way
The intro to spillways always reminds me of two different songs, money money money by abba, and delilah by Tom Jones
Toto ‘Hold The Line’
My ranked.
S. Meliora
A. Opus
B. Infestissumam, Prequelle
C. Impera
I like Impera, but i was looking for more Ghost sounding music, trying to change things up made it sound less original to me in my opinion. would have preferred more Watcher in the Sky, Twenties, Hunters Moon and Call Me as they are my favorites.
i saw twin temple live with ghost.. amazing
Agree on your comments and review. Love the new album, and feel it's definately their most accomplished. Best? Its hard to say. I think Melora has a better defined purpose, or "vibe", but Impera is better on many counts - its highs are beyond anything Ghost have done before.
It just gets better each spin
S: Infestissumam
A: Opus Eponymous
B: Meliora
C: Prequelle, Impera
Id put opus and infestissumam equal dude, rest of the order is spot on though.nice 1🤘
1:08 Atypical is a way to put it.
I’m a Ghost fan since 2012
My list:
1. Impera
2. Meliora
3. Prequelle
4. Infestissumam
5. Opus Eponymous
Greetings from Norway
Dude Infestissumam is incredible, what the WHAT?
Naw. But opinions are opinions.
The Spillways piano intro sounds like Runaway by Bon Jovi
Grrrrrrrr why you gotta join the ‘blowing up my notification squad for new music Friday’? Lol
lol SORRY. This was a big one. At least it’s relatively short 😂
@@MetalTrenches haha no worries! Just been a crazy music week for me. Couple of singles I’m reacting to. May check out this album but I’m really not a big fan of theirs.
Spillways, that intro is so familiar to that song thats sung in the bar in the movie Paul Blart Mall Cop?? Maybe?
Bon Jovi Runaway + Toto Hold The Line + Pokemon Theme Song
The piano riff from Spillways personally makes me immediately think of the Pokémon opening
maybe it’s that you were thinking of but couldn’t put your finger on?
That + Toto Hold The Line + Bon Jovi Runaway
You think Prequlle is better than Infestissumam??
Yes.
Prequelle is no 1..then impera 2nd..then the first album opus ..miliora then the second album last...I know that's pretty unpopular but prequelle was just awesome
Art is subjective after all
You know what makes Ghost really great? I checked so many album rankings and they are so different. Some albums are the best for some fans and other albums are the best for other fans.
For instance look at Iron Maiden (whom I really like and respect), most almost all rankings are like this: Blaze albums, No Prayer... FotD are on the bottom, while Number of the Beast, Powerslave, Seventh Son... are on the top. Most fans agree.
However, in case of Ghost the opinion of the fans are so inconsistent and I think this makes the band very interesting.
My personal ranking (best to "not the best"):
1. Prequelle
2. Meliora (very close second)
3. Impera
4. Infestissumam
5. Opus Eponymous
(you might agree or disagree)
Respect your opinion, but totally disagree with the placement of Infesstisumam. It’s my favorite album of Ghost with Meliora being a close second. But that’s just MY opinion. 🤘🏼
After giving Impera a listen I was pleasantly surprised. I happen to like it better than Prequelle but nothing Ghost does will top Opus Eponymous. Here would be my ranking:
5. Prequelle
4. Infestissumam
3. Impera
2. Meliora
1. Opus Eponymous
I like all of their albums, but I might love the new one.
I think it may actually be my favorite on further listens
Недаром этот альбом стал лучшим рок альбомом в 2022 году и взял награду AMA Awards
Yes!! And Call me little sunshine is now Grammy nominated
@@iFermi yea 🤟
Although Respite on the Spitalfields is one of the best songs they ve written i go with
1: Opus
2: meliora
3: infestissuman
4: prequelle
5: impera
Loving the new album! Great list man. FNM is my fav band so no wonder why I love Twenties!
Angel Dust GOATed
S. Meliora
A. IMPERA/OPUS
B. Prequelle
C. infesstessium
Looks like we are right on the level.
Hi from Brazil!
I don't know if is the song that you was talking about, but Spillways remember me Runaway from Bon Jovi
Yup
Spillways opening is similar to Bon Jovi's Runaway
Impera and Meliora are probably the only ghost albums where all songs are gold. The other three may have great standout tracks, but some less interesting songs too.
Hey Dude. Spillways might remind you of Foreigner’s You‘re as cold as Ice. The song did this to me. 😅✌🏼 As I already type… I got a stream a week before release and am shocked, that the version that was released is not the same. Have you noticed that, too?
Toto - Hold The Line + Bon Jovo - Runaway
The song you're thinking of on Spillways is 'Poison' by Alice Cooper
Another good comparison but it’s the piano in particular. There’s like an 80’s rock song that starts very similarly
@@MetalTrenches I was thinking "Cold As Ice" by Foreigner but sped up. "Runaways" from Bon Jovi also comes to mind.
RUNAWAY! That may have been it.
tbh i was thinking off that one dr dre song
Actually now someone got it: Hold The Line by Toto. It’s like a fusion of the two.
Irritates the hell outta me lol
🤷🏻♂️
S Prequelle
A Infestissumam
B+ Meliora, Opus Eponymous
C Impera
Very unique ranking
Just to fill the gaps, what tier would you rank the EP, Popestar?
I still need to listen to that
@@MetalTrenches There is seven inches as well (that's papa Nihil album)
Spillways Piano sounds like "love isn't always on time"
THAT’S IT!!! Someone else said Runaway by Bon Jovi and I thought that was it but this was what was in my head for sure.
I think it sounds like the intro to Pokémon! lol
That song is called "hold the line"
I'll go with Bon Jovi "Runaway"
My top Is Opus, Meliora, Impera,Prequelle AND Infestisummam
I really love ghost a lot so thanks for the list also I love twin temple thanks for mentioning them
Fair list. I disagreel, but it all comes to taste. Here's mine
1. Impera
2. Meliora
3. Prequelle
4. Opus Eponymus
5. Infestissumam
I feel Impera is their best one yet. Very addictive hooks on all tracks, while still keeping to being heavy. I feel like the more poppy direction of Prequelle and the more heavy and proggy direction of Meliora came together synched in a beautiful fashion on Impera.
Glad we both are loving Impera
1. Meliora
2. 1st
3. Prequelle
4. Impera
5. 2nd
I could see how this might be a shift for a longtime listener. For me it just keeps getting better
