Saw a couple comments about the 1:55 - it is by a professional driver who is much better than me, and it was trying to kill him while we had wrong spring rates on + adjusting damper settings. He hopped in the car and did a couple of laps: th-cam.com/video/ek4j91vTSiQ/w-d-xo.html
Awesome platform and great review! Mine is a daily with springs, sways, exhaust and intake. Too many people complain about this car rather than driving it and appreciating the fact that Toyota/BMW put in the effort to build this (even with a manual). I owned 2 S2Ks before, it feels like a modern hardtop S2k with lot more power.
Love to hear this. Dont have many curves near me outside of track days or a road trip, so i was kinda disappointed in my s2k experience. Would love to have one of these someday!
I aimed to keep the car minimal in mods to produce repeatable laps while improving handling to what my last track car was like.... but good seats/harness/roll bar/HANS etc would really help a lot in being more consistent! It's just a lot of spend to be doing all at once, and I don't want to half-ass safety gear

@@patthonsirilim5739 yep. He's acting as if he's gonna get a 100k for his fl5. If you have to sell your fl5 to get this Supra, you can't afford it. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
A90 Supra has one of the highest torsional rigidity of any Japanese car at 32,000 nm/deg, more than the LFA…& it comes with the highly-reliable, over-engineered B58 engine, putting aside the fact that it’s a rebadged German Coupe, I’d say this is a JDM sports-car to own
It’s that high? Only car I think of higher (correct me if I’m wrong here) is the z4m coupe? I know the rx8 r3 is pretty stiff too but I can’t remember the number
I have a 2024; all I have done for the track is pads, fluid, wheels and tires. Seems very capable to me, but I am far from a pro. I believe the newer cars have had suspension revisions which make them less tail happy in stock form.
I have looked at these so many times, but I cannot fall in love with this car. Immensely capable with some mods, but it never spoke to me even after driving one. I think the looks holds it back a bit too. Few complaints behind the wheel besides visibility, and for my frame, lack of headroom with stock seats.
Supra is one of those cars that needs the right conditions to come alive. Driving around town, aside from the exhaust pops and bangs there isn't anything that let's you know you're in a performance car. Get it on a winding road though, and the experience for the money is very hard to beat.
more crack resistant windshield.....not joking, 2 cracks in mine in first year of ownership, and I noticed some good sized ones in the one your driving as well. I wonder if this is a Supra thing?
Very well set up car from the video. Makes me think a Supra would've been a much better track car than the E92. Also, a 1:55 on 3 points and stock seats, that must be a work out just trying to hold on. Excited to see what times it will turn with aero.
My last track car before this Supra was an E92 M3; I think it is a better track car and got kind of close to my modded E92 M3's lap times when the Supra was less modified. Brakes are definitely way better, not needing a BBK
I have MCS dampers on my 718 GT4, and just like them or any other quality 2-way dampers, you can simply adjust the clicks to get the ride quality you want. Maybe ask the owner to drop the clicks down a couple and try the road again.
I was recently given the opportunity to drive a neighbor's current gen Camaro SS. Its acceleration and handling are close to my 2024 GR Supra, but the Camaro feels heavier (which it is). Its most agressive driving mode (track) really amplifies the exhaust sound - much louder than my stock exhaust. Overall, the Camaro is a fun car, but I still prefer my Supra.
Try both and decide. I see a number of both at track days. The SS 1LE is the real deal and needs nothing other than maybe stickier tires for track days. Supra probably needs more mods to get there. I imagine the 1LE is more versatile and does both street and track better. With the Supra it might be more of one or the other. Interested to see what Fenton would say.
I don't like them at all. It lacks the dignity and honour of its own identity, its hideous to look at - like its melted in the sun, and it just smacks of being a cynical money maker from two companies that have the money not to have to resort to this kind of thing.
It’s a shame how it ended up, the FT1 concept car looked so futuristic and sick. Then they compromised the design to squash it onto the BMW platform, which resulted in just such an awkward ugly duckling. I can’t really think of another example of concept -> production that has disappointed me more
Interesting. I didn’t like these at all when they first came out. But whenever I see one on the road or at a track day I think of how good looking and unique they are. And just the right size too. To each his own.
This car is one of the most impressive platforms and blows the mk4 out of proportion. The mk4 sucked on track but this thing is an engineering miracle.
@@burningknuckle26 2JZ Supra is so overrated. The best version of the MKIV Supra wasn't even 2JZ, it was the turbo inline 4 castrol supra. The 2JZ is too heavy which made the car shitty to drive on a circuit or in the canyons. When they fitted that 4 cylinder in that racing variant, it became a winner. The GR Supra with the B58 motor is the best of both worlds - highly tuneable and reliable inline 6 but lightweight enough to excel on track. The MKV will go down as a bigger legend than the MKIV.

The A90 is such an underrated platform, getting ready to sell my FL5 to make room for the Final Edition next year.
Good luck with the even crazier mark up. 😂😂😂
I thought it was already confirmed that it was not coming to the States.

On the street it's a bit dull and compromised, but with the right mods, it's super engaging and fast on track

Low windshield at this angle + coming up on cars fast on track (close too) = easy cracks

G8x and a90s are so fast and capable
Curious how this compares to the Camaro SS 1LE on road and on the track.
Yea.. I feel that a gen 6 SS 1LE is still the best bang for the buck in terms of track performance.
That's a track comparo I'd love to film

I don't think the downpipes will do anything without a tune. Likely the change in back pressure will cause turbo lag.
Can you do my m340i tuned?
How does it compare to a gen 6 Camaro ss

SS 1LE is better out of the box for track days. Supra might have higher limits when modified, due to its lighter weight and tunable engine.
They are close, but the Supra is far more unique on the street. I think the GR Supra is also more reliable.
1:55 on config 13? That's impressive
That was with a pro driver I believe
Should I keep modifying my 06 S2000 or sell it and get a Supra
why would he not tune the b58
I need more driver mod than power mod right now 🙏
If only it was a stick
Looks boring to drive compared to a S2K
Bmw m2
i would probably get one of these in AT tbh
Definitely!! The ZF is so satisfying and responsive.
The manual has rev hang and cant handle as much power as the auto modded.
@ms3ben for real, now only if I had more money 😭
That's the great thing: both transmission options are excellent
The "outdated" super sports are better than the PS4S in all things dry.
