- Our 2001 Chrysler Voyager minivan air conditioning (and heater) fan would only blow when the fan speed knob was turned to its highest setting. Some quick web searches revealed that I needed to replace the blower motor resistor. Here's a quick how-to video that shows that a geek can fix the problem, even with only a minimal amount of mechanical ability.
7 years on and this video still helping folks. I inherited my dad's 2001 voyager with less than 100k miles. Took it on family road trip and quickly tired of cycling between full blast A/C and nothing. Upon return home I looked into it and your video was the first thing that popped up. The longest part of the repair was driving back and forth from the auto parts store. Easy repair thanks to your video - thanks for the help!
Thanks helped me out ! 10 years later
WOW Thank you for posting, I was going to take my to the mechanic next week but this fixed the problem. I to have the burnt plastic smell but it is getting better and my blower works better than it ever did. Thank you for your knowledge and help

Thank you Ryan and greetings from Fort Myers! This is exactly the problem we have with our van. I thought I was going to have to remove the rotary switch, but you saved me from a useless dead end! I'm off to the auto parts store! Thanks for showing the part number!
Awesome! Aloha from Spokane Washington. I been here 3 years and my voyager blower stopped working and it’s 8 degrees. No heat!
I’m from big island and not use to the cold. Your video helped out. Mahalo!

Although I haven't tried it yet, I am positive it will work on my 2001 Grand Caravan which is having the same issue!!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for saving me a trip to Dodge, and keeping money in my pocket!!! Awesome video!!!

Marie
omg god.. ill for sure try this on my just purchased mini van same issue and same model thanks
Dude that was an awesome video!
Hey Ryan,
Excellent video & great editing!
you saved my life
I have found that the glovebox itself is the problem.... It repeatedly hits against the resistor, due to poor spacing. So when you open and close the box for years it ruins the wire connectors. I removed the connector assembly and reaplace them with 90 degree angle wire connectors... work like a charm. I might post a video to show what I mean, becuase the old resistor was still good.
This video was so helpful! Thanks for posting- you did a great job!
Ryan u are the best- Big Ups from Alemania !
Many thanks. I am having this problem on my Voyager same year as yours 2001. Will look for the part and try to fix it myself. will get in touch when its done. Thanks again.

I have that same problem on the same van thank you. The next problem I am looking for is the van won't switch to heat when I turn the middle heat/cold knob. Any ideas?
my problem is similar I have a 1999 chrysler lhs. my blower only blows on high.it never turns off.even if I turn the speed to the lowest it still blows on high.can u please help me.it wont turn off its always on.
will this be the problem if the speed knob will work only in low?
thank you very much it was very good thanks again
muy bien deverias de hacer mas videos;me sacaste de un apuro muy bien;gracias.
if my car is working n tha back n not tha front is it tha same part
I have a 2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager with dual sliding temp controls. One for drivers side and one for passenger side. A/C works great on both sides except the temp doesn't change on the drivers side when adjusted from cold to warmer. And the heat doesn't blow on the drivers side. Only on the passenger side and in the back. How can I fix this?
I have no audio. Could you please specify a part number for the resistor?
hi hawaii i have a 2002 chrysler voyager and i had the same problem the fan will work only on high speed after i saw your video i check mine and its looks identical to yours i bought the resistor on advanced auto parts its looks the same green after i installed it worked but like after 30 seconds a smell started coming out of the vents its smell like burnt or other smell not natural smell did u have any idea what could it be?
Thank you from wahiawa haha saved me some money
