So it seems some people were confused about how I determined what I thought to be the best of each type. Again, each type had different criteria. What makes a good water type has nothing to do with what makes a good rock type. And also, while perfectly representing the type was a major criteria, the Pokemon also has to have all other aspects that I personally believe makes a great Pokemon. (That's why a literal pile of poisonous sludge, like Muk, isn't the best poison type in my opinion, because for some types, being clever with the interpretation of the type is a factor) This is not a video, SOLELY, about the Pokemon that represents each type the best. It's first and foremost a video about which Pokemon I think are the best of each type. Whether they represent their type in an appropriate manner JUST SO HAPPENS to be a big factor in MY judgement. (but still one of multiple things that I am judging)

"Nosetta," Rock Type , "Stone?" She was my second lead Pokemon in Sapphire for Gameboy Advance.
Favourite Water Type: My Swampert , "Baljeet" .( Yes , he's named after the nerd kid on Phineas and Ferb . ) strong from the start of my Hoenn adventure. The single strongest Pokemon in all the Pokemon games I've played . Blue, Red, Gold, Sapphire , Ruby, Pearl, Y, Mystery Dungeon? Stronger than any of the other Pokemon in any of those games. Plus, it fits in your criteria, it is somewhat Mammalian, Somewhat Amphibian, and all Water Type.
Favourite Fire Type : My Charizard, " Charmen." ( No, not like the toilet paper) Anywhom, Charmen was my first Pokemon in Red Version got Gameboy Colour. Ah, Red Version, on my cartridge, when it stopped saving my progress, I'd start a new game. You know that first part with Professor Oak's intro? On mine, the animation was off so every time I started a new game, Oak' s head was gone , but the animation that he was still talking kept going , then it would freeze and make scary , distorted noises .
Favourite Grass Type : My Bulbasaur, "Bulbusnose." My first Pokemon in Blue Version for Gameboy Colour. My strategy; let Bulbusnose learn Vine Whip and Leech Seed as a Bulbasaur. Always use Leech Seed first in every battle ,then Vine Whip. When it evolves into Ivysaur , Keep this strategy up until it barely works, then, teach it only strong attack type moves but never make it forget Vine Whip.

I agree with you....Weezing is first because it's a toxic cloud with a skull and cross bones on it. If you were to look up poison in the dictionary you would see a picture of weezing beside it. Runner up is Garbodor. When I think of poison type it is something I dont want to touch...I couldn't touch Garbodor without getting sick in some way.
I know Muk represents sludge but it could be confused as mud.

Stoutland's my favourite normal type, so I was happy to see him on here. His moveset is awesome, and Stoutland's awesome.
I just think his reasoning for praising Stoutland was so hypocritical, considering its the very same criteria he used to condemn Delcatty. "He's just a regular real life domestic animal, with enhanced powers", but for some reason its unnacceptable when presented in Skitty and Delcatty?? idk his bias is so real in these.

anyone else mad confused about the determination of what makes the pokemon the 'best' of the type.. it seems to be switching constantly and not actually be the best at all
josie I know! In some he says that it’s not about popularity or battle power etc. but then he used those exact points to justify his other choices.
As Truegreen said in his pinned comment, not all the criteria for each type is specifically the same. Considering how diverse the Pokemon world is, the classification of what Pokemon represents a certain type the best will change depending on what that type is all about. For example, best Rock type should be a sentient being that's clearly made of rock but still identifiable as living and not just an animal with rocks on it, whilst a good Flying type is more about what Pokemon has the best control over the power of flight and not just relate to the sky. Plus, this is also a partially opinion based video, meaning that what represents a certain type the best to Ron will likely differ from person to person.
Think of these Pokemons as the Pokemon that they would show you and you will go like "oh, that's a fire type!". Or what you would generally think of when you say fire type.
Raphael 15 if I were going to show anyone a poison type Muk or Weezing would be at the top of the list. Nidoking is one of my favorite Pokémon. And off of the top of my head is my favorite Poison type, but he’s not the best poster kid for poison type. Even Arbok or Seviper would work better

Like during bugs he mentioned pokemon that looked too much like bugs being ones that couldn’t win but then he picks Heracross. Psychic - Munsharna (it has psychic energy spilling out of it and it uses it to float. It also has a psychic color scheme)
Ground - Dugrio (its whole thing is that it digs, and it is a mole. Moles dig!)

Poison - Crogunk (i think it’s more poison then Toxicroak, since Toxicroak is more fighting. It is also based on a poisonous animal.)
Grass - Roserade (It is just a plant, which is what most grass types are, and symbolies one of the most popular plants)

Water - Vapoureon (It’s just water and it has features of sea creatures)

Yeah but the problem with that is there's only like 8 ish pokemon in total who are JUST pollution, a concept like that isn't very representative of the poison type, which actually embodies venom a lot more often than poison.
I thought regular Muk is a pretty good representative

electabuzz wouldn’t be my pick, doesn’t look electric enough..it’s prevo doesn’t change that as that’s a different pokémon. Electric pokémon should be fast, and look charged with energy (jolteons fur sticks out in spikes from the electricity, that’s what it looks like, and it’s decently fast), electabuzz looks like a tubby sabertooth mixed with a tiger that is heavily inbred to the point it’s unrecognizable..it doesn’t look fast at all nor does it look electric, it’s just yellow. (no offense to this pokémon, it’s got a nice design actually)

Yeah, nidoking felt completely out of place with everything else fitting so well. Toxapex or Toxicroak would've made the most sense. I still feel it's a shame that he factors in popularity here, too. Scolipede is without a doubt the best bug type and Avalugg is literally ice.

I see your point, but what Ron was looking for for a lot of these was an animalistic creature that is a believable being that also represents its type correctly. Bisharp being humanoid and Metagross being robotic are pretty different things, and neither give off the vibe that Ron wanted. His vision of the perfect Steel type was an animalistic creature that isn't just sentient steel, but rather an animal that naturally incorporates steel into its design, and in this case, Aggron's metal armor being fused to its body fit the description in his opinion.

@@testerwulf3357 It takes over (possessing) appliances. Pikachu or magnemite can not possess appliances and they are electric type. The possessing of appliances is definitely from its ghost typing. Haven't you seen any horror movies. Ghosts possess appliances to freak people out. Plus not all of its forms are even electric. I dont see an electric cord on mow rotom. It's most likely to be gas powered which has nothing to do with electricity.

Lycanroc is so underrated, he is just so cool, sadly almost nobody cares about him, he even has one of the coolest evolution, the fact that you can choose which Form you want to have on him based on the time of the day is sooo cool, the dusk version is my favorite, but the other two are also cool

I get the IT reference, but Maturin and World Turtle are different, Torterra’s classification is the Continent Pokémon, I get the Pokémon that should’ve represent the Grass Type, but they are literal plants. Represents, the types at first look, Represents the environment, design, origin, and adaptability, is my criteria.

I love how his electric, fire, poison, dragon, ground, flying, water choices are also what I like.
This episode made me really happy and I liked the fact that you didn't go off power or your own personal favorites. However, with Gengar, even though he is my favorite pokemon, wouldn't his pre-evelution, Haunter, be the better choice? Sure, Gengar is ghosty, but I don't think he has the ghost trope of floating. Haunter has the ability to float, plus some of the things, if not all, that Gengar does. Unless you were going off of final evolutions only or had a different reason for picking Gengar over the floaty dude, like maybe most ghost types are pretty grounded? I wouldn't know, because I haven't seen them all... Anyways, just a suggestion.

My favourite dragon type is Druddigon due to its awesome design, this is a good example of an opinion
salamence represents a traditional dragon pokémon better in my opinion though. druddigon has extra fancy features with its spikes and all

Zak But druddigon looks like a dragon a lot, and doesn't have to many features that sway from dragons. Dragonite has a spike on it's head, dialga has pointy shards. Also, red and blue are common colors for dragons, like salamence.

I think the tiebreaker here was that Salamence looks more like the standard depiction of a European dragon that most people think of, while Dragonite is still obviously draconic but a lot more cutesy looking than the standard dragon is usually seen as

Mightyena is my favorite dark type personally. And it recently cemented itself as my favorite pokemon (used to be eevee. still like eevee tho.)
I also love how Pokemon Amie and pokemon camps allow to raise your friendship to the point where your pokemon will hold on like mad lads and score critical hits. My baby Vesper in AS took me to the elite four baby.
Yeah but the only dark thing about it is that it's based on a Hyena, which while they are clever scavengers, that doesn't exactly scream dark type outside the color palette. Mandibuzz uses bones to decorate itself so it fits the dark type more than just being a scavenger.
Zebstrika definitely was snubbed for electric, In my opinion Roserade was kinda snubbed for Grass,
and I’d honestly say Eevee was snubbed for Normal because its one of the most normal Pokemon until it evolves, but I’m not sure if Eevee counts as an “Eeveelution”
I think Dusknoir or Spiritomb represent the ghost type better than Gengar.
Dusknoir is almost literally the grim reaper of the pokemon world and Spiritomb has a lot of things that are extremely related to the ghost type: his name (spirit -tomb two things highly related to ghosts) and his concept (a pokemon literally made from the souls of 108 evil spirits).
Primarina represents better the water type as well since her design is based on a mermaid.
I also think that beartic represents better the Ice type. Walrein was a good option but you can also see a water type in his design. But if you ask someone which type should get a pokemon based on a polar bear, I'm pretty sure that the first type that person would say is Ice type. Also, his color, concept and habitat is highly related to the Ice type. Even the concept for his pre-evolution is highly related to ice types (a polar bear cub with a cold). Colds are also related to being exposed to cold places (but I'm only taking into consideration fully evolved pokemon since some pokemon may lose what makes them look like certain type after their evolutions).
I also think that Sylveon still represents better the fairy type. It was basically the pokemon used by Game freak itself to represent the Fairy Type when they presented the new type. Besides, florges looks to much like a grass type too.
Pikachu also represents better the electric type since it's probably the first pokemon that will come to someone's mind when other person ask them to mention an electric type pokemon. It's also without a doubt the most famous electric type. But it's a middle stage evolution. So Xurkitree could be the next viable option since his concept is based on electric cables (maybe it doesn't look too much as an animal but he is technically a pokemon. It's just that he came from a different dimension. So it makes sense for him to look rare).
Also excadrill represents the ground type better. Pretty much every criteria mentioned for Sandslash works even better for excadrill. Even the name.
