That speaker you talked about first is for the backup alert sound

Great review, Jeff. I have the same unit, but for the Auto Climate Control version, so the faceplate is longer and the AC "box" has to be switched over (a bit more complicated, as two knobs have to be removed prior to re-installing them after moving the AC box over to the new faceplate.
I'm also very happy with the unit, although I've had a couple glitches. My factory tailgate camera had very poor resolution after connecting it to the RCA jack on the Junsun head unit. The display image had flickering lines and the video would lag and "freeze" while backing up. I added a five dollar rectifier/filter that Junsun recommended and it made the image a bit better, but still had the lag and momentary freezing. They sent me an aftermarket backup camera that I installed on a license plate bracket and I ran the cable up along the factory harness along the frame rail on the driver side and up through the plastic "pop up" port under the driver's seat, then under the carpet and over to the back of the head unit. I had to connect the small red wire on the camera's cable end to the brown wire from the Junsun harness (pin 3 on the harness that plugs into the Junsun head unit) as per the instructions and now I have a high-resolution 1080p backup camera image.
The only other issue is that my unit won't display the temperature when I am in the "Air Settings" page. It says only "low" or "high." Junsun says it's a bug that they are working to fix. The controls all work properly....if I hit the "up" or "down" temperature buttons the air temperature will change accordingly, but I can't see what temperature it's actually set to. The on-screen heated seats and steering wheel controls all work as well...just no temperature display.
I'm hoping they can figure that out soon. My truck is a 2018 Ram 1500 Big Horn with automatic climate control.
One more thing I wanted to point out....Junsun includes two USB cables, as you illustrated. One is a 4-pin white connector and the other is a 6-pin white connector. From what I've read, the 6-pin cable will allow you to connect (wired) for Android Auto or CarPlay where the 4-pin will not. I chose to use the 6-pin cable and drilled a hole in the little "cubby" compartment to right, below the radio, and ran the USB connector out into the cubby in case I want to connect wired. (I pretty much always just connect wirelessly and use a magnetic fast charger clipped on the vent.) I did connect the short USB connector wire that has a 4-pin white connector on one end and a "micro USB" connector on the other. This connects to one of the original cables that came off the UConnect stock radio, and it has a matching micro USB connector on it. This indeed allows me to use the USB connections under the armrest console.
Great review! If anybody here has any fix for the temperature display, please leave info in a comment! I'll try to come back and update if they find me a fix for this. I have updated the CANBUS firmware twice in the past couple weeks, whenever an update is available, and it hasn't solved that issue as of yet.

Did you notice if the "Brown" wire is the one labeled "Key 1"? Also, at the rear where did you connect the other end of the red wire that's combined with the video wire? Where did u ground to? Truck or splice in to black off reverse light?

@@jimmytv6538I didn’t use the yellow video wire at all. The factory cam works off the harness.

@@jimmytv6538 Hi Jimmy. I don't the brown wire was labeled at all.. Usually the "key" wires are ignored and not used. The brown wire was at "Pin3" which is near the primary red wire. That connects to the red "reverse switching" wire that comes up with the video cable. At the rear, I wired mine into the 7-pin wiring at the trailer connector, red to positive and black to negative. If you are wiring into your tail light wire, you can do the same, red to positive, black to negative, or you can connect black to ground at any ground point nut/bolt. I had no issues connecting to the trailer wiring negative, but some people have had issues with the negative wire from the tail light due to "pulsing" but you can try it, and then connect black to ground if needed instead of the ground wire from the tail light wiring.

@@petesreviews15 Turns out my "T" connectors are garbage and not making connections. Removed them all now cam works. I wired it off the reverse light and I get the pulse and lag using the supplied camera. Should i get the same "five dollar rectifier/filter that Junsun recommended" that u got or contact seller?

U buy the one with or without the additional backup camera ?
My truck already has the factory backup camera but it displays in the rear view mirror. Can I get the one without a camera and it work with my factory camera ?
( the Amazon link has both with and without camera)

I got the one without the added backup camera. Factory camera worked fine. All I had to do was plug it into the harness.

How do I get my front camera to work, this is the camera that Junsun suggested I purchase.
When I scroll to the "front camera" I am told no signal.
When I plug my Logitech webcam into one of my laptops it works fine, so I then plug the USB front camera into the laptop and I am told no signal.
Is there a bench test that I can undertake (I repair laptops, so I have a fully equipped workshop) or do I need to download an exe. file or another file to get the camera to work.
Another problem while driving I go into maps and the cursor follows me, but when I ask for directions to either my home or a city 10 miles away I am told "no internet access"

@ so you just plugged in the main harnesses and it automatically connected to original camera ?

    • @jeffwagg
      @jeffwagg  23 วันที่ผ่านมา

@@AJ-bd9nr I ran into someone else with this problem, and I think they were plugging the camera into the satellite port. In my case, I didn't use the yellow connector with the loose red wire at all. I plugged the camera into the harness, and it just worked. From my understanding, some of the older trucks need to have custom wiring done. THAT's what the yellow connector is for. There are some other videos on YT explaining how to do that.

I know the Jeep is the right setting. It’s the same canbus system and radios the Jeeps have apparently.
There’s a HUGE menu in there where you can control each individual item, but since I don’t have the controls, I can’t test it.

There an amplifier volume setting buried in the menus. Check if that’s set low.
