The problem with someone writing a genius is they are writing someone smarter than themselves which will almost always create problems.
really good writers figure out how to write characters they cant physcially relate to! its not an easy skill to build, but its doable
kishi's track record resonating with people ont like him is shown quite poor in numerous ways xD
….i’m supposed to be writing a genius, but ….. i can’t..i try to think of mcguyver and some other known genius, but its hard
@@iOnRX9 Show, don't tell. If you can reverse-engineer scenarios that show how intelligent your character is without making it look like impossible magic (Moffat's Sherlock) then you're on the right track. Ironically, you need to let the audience/reader in to the figuring-out so they can SEE the intelligence, but it's easy to slip into dumbing-down.
Then there are other points where other characters are made dumber to give the intelligent character a chance to shine.
@@iOnRX9 think sherlock more than mcguyver.... but dont give as many absurd stretches to the red strings they tie together... being a genius is largely about problem solving.
so putting one and two together.
Mcguyver is more recourseful than anything else. and thats a bit different
I love how Hiruzen is said to know every jutsu in the Leaf and he decides to throw roof tiles at Orochimaru.
He still ends up using more jutsu than naruto ever uses 😂
I mean...when you put it like that....Lmao
Gotta use what you got 😂 he saw roof tiles so he threw roof tiles 😂
Wym bro its the Tile Thrower Jutsu
Tbf he was surrounded by roof tiles. Near endless weapons
Kabuto figuring out how to move his body after having his controller scrambled and beating muscle memory to fight again is a super impressive feat
Someone finally said it, the term "genius" gets used in place of "prodigy" way too often in this series
Because they are the same. Intelligence is more than having a physics degree. Everyone with a PhD is intelligent, but not everyone who is intelligent cares to pursue a PhD or any form of science. Intelligence is innate ability, the ability to think quickly and creatively. To grasp knowledge and new skills faster than the ordinary person and so forth.
@@zeveria7206no. Thats not what intelligence or a prodigy is.
A prodigy is someone with an innste talent for a specific skill mozart was a prodigy. He was writing symphony at like 6 yrs old. But ask him to do some trigonometry and hed be completely lost. Ask him to build a bird house hed be completely lost. Even with direction he wouldnt be any better at it than anyone else. His skills are specifically music.
There are many types of intelligence as well. The super common emotional intelligence. You pick up your own subconscious cues and others cues much more easily than other people.
What youre describing is closer t our standard bookish intelligence but its still very different for different tasks. Im great at picking up math or science related skills but suck at practical knowledge. I can think quickly to solve a video game puzzle but can’t navigate a surprise social interaction. Definitely different sets of skills for different activities and some are inherently better at it than others but its rare to get someone whos good at everything like you seem to imply.
Einstein couldnt even keep his affair secret from his wife. You can be smart at 1 thing and even a genius but suck at other skills. Woudlnt trust einstein to fix my car either even if you gave him some time to figure it out
@@zeveria7206not exactly. There is a reason talented and prodigy are not synonamous with genius. Einstein is a genius. Madam Cury is a genius, Oppenheimer is a genius etc. None of the characters of naruto come even close. This is why battle IQ is a thing.
@@zeveria7206the original use of the word genius is almost like how we use the word muse. Now the word has been accepted to mean someone who is extremely intelligent and that's the definition. Keep in mind that the modern use of the word came about by misunderstanding. When reading a word you don't know in context someone who inspires becomes someone who is insanely smart. Truth is, a genius can be a person with 70 IQ if somehow they inspire a lightbulb flash idea. Know what I mean?
I learned the word "gloat" when I read Dune as a boy. Herbert had finished describing the Baron and said he wanted to gloat over the captured doctor. Not knowing the word, I thought gloat meant some kind of disgusting fluid exuding from his body to drip all over the doctor. Until I looked it up in the dictionary. 😁 It made me laugh. I sure do think up silly stuff when I don't know the definition of the real word. 💛
I feel like Sakura deserves an honorable mention, if you’re going by raw intelligence. She was able to answer all the questions on the chunin exam without cheating, alter the strength of 100 seal enough to allow her to fight on the front lines and perform harder medical procedures without jeopardizing the seal, save Kankuro when all the sand medics declared it a lost cause concoct an antidote for a poison that stumped Chiyo and even Sasori needed the mix ratio table to make, tricked Sasori to destroy the third kazekage puppet, save the medics from white zetsu and then report it and aid in the autopsy, able to use the immense network healing which Shizune remarked was impressive, keep Naruto alive during the war, as battle intelligence goes during her light novel she’s smart enough to apply her medical ninjutsu to her combat to kill Kido, she created a jutsu using her chakra control that essentially gave her the abilities of a byakugan, created her own sealing jutsu, and utilized both in an undercover mission-one of which was a trap she laid from the beginning as a precaution, and opened therapy centers (which the world desperately needed) while being acting head of the hospital. I don’t know enough about other characters on this list to say she deserves a spot, but I think she’s definitely worthy of a shoutout
Fun fact: Asuma stated that Shikamaru had the potential to become Hokage. But he would find the job to be a drag.
Yea he’s not very happy to be hokage rn 😂
We all knew that 😂 he just lazy wanna be a cloud ☁️

Now we got Shikamaru slander. We can’t go on like this 😢
I won't stand for it 😢
He's a naruto tuber at the end of day he needs vids. Wouldn't pin it against nc hammer
He lazy not dumb
Nick part of the reason naruto gets the hate it does
Its not slander....
hes a fun character
but hes the biggest fraud to hold the title of genius in literally any popular anime
"They're a genius!"
"You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means."
First you say Rock Lee is a failure, and now Shikamaru is dumb?
He doesn't mean it, it's more of a click bait title lol
@@WESTSIDE_UCHIHAalmost made me not watch
Rock Lee...is a failure.
but its true
Did they change the title? Because as I read it he doesn't call him dumb, just not THE smartest (although the phrasing is a bit ambiguous). Which given his placement is fair. I wouldn't stand for Shikamaru slander, but I think most of the talking him down here was more explaining why he doesn't get top spot for free no diff, not saying he's anywhere near dumb.
Granny Chiyo was pretty sharp too.
Through age. She was old asf.
She is a war criminal!! Deserves to be jailed! She killed her own grandson over something she herself did repeatedly. So sad! Sasori is the MVP to me.

Come on, man. How are you gonna hold the Sasuke Retrieval Arc against Shikamaru? It was literally his first mission as a Chunin, leading a team of Genin against Orochimaru's strongest henchmen who all had CM2. There was no realistic prospect of success for that mission. He clearly displayed his intelligence when they were trapped in Jirobo's Earth Dome. Everyone else there would have panicked, but only he was able to calmly deduce how to escape. Sure he had little choice when getting them to split up, but that's because of the difficulty of the mission.
Not to mention Shikamaru recognized that he would need a team of chunin at minimum to succeed, and still came extremely close to succeeding (no casualties and Naruto almost defeated sasuke) with only genin
At this point, he just yapping to get views lol
dont forget his fight with the chick with the flute, he managed to deduce what commands she was doing buy only looking at her fingers
@@b4g4b3l yeah he has many feats that proves he is a genius, imagine him with uzumaki' or senju's chakra pool
@@b4g4b3l It honestly goes on and on. He also reduced his fight with Hidan to “digging a hole” as if he didn’t figure out the mechanics of Hidan’s ability during their first interaction when Asuma was still alive, and use that knowledge to trick Hidan into stabbing Kakuzu during the re-match.
There was a very blatant agenda on display.
The fact that Orochimaru was performing practices similar to what literal aliens do with their vessels years before the aliens were introduced into the story has to make him top 5 at least. He's perfected immortality and who knows how many jutsu. And he also consistently has smart characters wondering how the fuck he gets out of sticky situations.
Shikaku deserved in the list at least a honourable mention
Yea man
Now nick… as THE number 1 sakura hype man… having an intelligence list, and not having the person who studied so much she literally forgot to study battle techniques. And was capable of thinking and preforming medical techniques (splitting her chakra into separate pools for daily use and her seal)… that tsunade herself never even thought of…. Was SO smart she was able the figure out how to heal the MINDS of people effected by the infinite tsukuyomi…. On this list…. Is Kinda susssss ( she has so many more feats btw)
After reading most the comments it’s fair to say the bro should start slowing down a bit because these vids lately are not thought out
I find it hilarious that he calls Edo Tensei "Edo Tensai" because Tensai means genius in Japanese lmao
it irked me every time he said it. edo tensai edo tensai edo tensai
This man puts Itachi in the top 10 smartest characters while simultaneously having a video on his channel titled "Itachi is an idiot". Truly a legend.
“Shikamaru is just leveraging Naruto’s golden retriever energy” is by far one of the most accurate statements I’ve ever heard.
I jumped to this video once I saw the name. You’re gonna be pissing a lot of people off.
That was my first thought too 😂😂
Nick: battle IQ does not equal intelligence, we're tackling this video in a different way
Also Nick: uses battle IQ for 99% of the arguments in this video
He said it's half of it, are you well?
@@genovayork2468 99 > 50
I’d say Sakura is smarter than Tsunade. She basically achieved everything Tsunade did but faster and better.
Faster, better AND without any clan. Tsunade is Senju and has some Uzumaki in her. Sakura had literally nothing.
She was preforming medical techniques that required full teams by herself while her chakra was constantly being pooled into the byakugo seal…I’d say so
She did do everything Tsunade did while having a teacher showing and teaching exactly how to do everything.
Can’t compare the two. She’s just the next step. Tsunade had to create most of the techniques Sakura just had to learn them
@@nicholasming5976 that’s not even near the truth. Sakura was preforming things tsunade never even thought of. She even admits to Sakura out preforming her in every way
16:37 kakashi is that perfect example of this concept I've been bouncing around in my head for awhile now, that when characters are born with special abilities, they're unable to use it to the fullest potential. But a person who's never had special powers and had to develop themselves overtime and THAN they are handed powers, they'll use the powers to an extent no one born with those powers could truly imagine or appreciate.
facts i have kakashi above tobirama in overall intellegence. nick doesnt realize you can scale intellegence because there are catagories
I can attest to the accuracy of that concept. As an autistic person I had a lot of trouble with social situations growing up, but the topic of psychology quickly became a deep fascination of mine, and so I paid tons of attention to it and learned anything that came my way. Nowadays I find that I understand these things far better than people who never had my kind of trouble before.
Honestly, the culture around communication is horrendously messed up, where all the "normal" people are encouraged to pretend like they understand better than they actually do, and they all think they're the only one pretending and that everyone else actually gets it. But as someone who studied it all and carefully watches for patterns, I see pretty clearly that most people are faking it, and they don't like it when the script they're used to gets shaken up, because they can't adapt on the fly, and they've been taught to feel like admitting any sort of ignorance or confusion is some deep moral failing instead of, y'know, the #1 way to learn and improve.
With any luck, maybe someone here will read this and be freed from the toxicity of it all. That would make me happy. As the saying goes, Failure is not the opposite of Success, but the road that leads to it. And that applies almost anywhere, not just social interactions.
@@riluna3695 absolutely, there's also a double whammy there, where the people who are inside the definition of "normal," tend to have a harder time handling anything outside the norm and are thus less accepting of the nuance of the human experience. Whereas people who are marginalized, particularly if their marginalization comes from being neurodivergent, we learn to accept and even fully understand the complexity and range of human experiences, simply because we went our entire lives treated as wrong and abnormal. They may claim themselves to be "realistic" and "mentally healthy" but usually we're the ones who are actually open and accepting to anyone outside the umbrella of normalcy, and are comfortable with the fact that things exist outside our range of knowledge and are comfortable with that.
@@adamusprime403 Absolutely. And it's far more than just "open to things outside normalcy". We're just as open and accepting towards normal things too, just not to the exclusion of other things. All "normal" even means is "the thing that you're most used to". Far too many people see it as something inherently good that needs to be strived for. That's nothing more than maintaining the status quo. And I mean....if the status quo is treating you well, I can see why you'd want to do that.
But when it involves hurting countless people, that you've just conveniently chosen not to include in the group of people you value as human beings, so that you can keep living the cushy life you're used to, that is NOT okay. And when we fight back against that harm, what people see (especially when prompted by endless fearmongering) is that "the weird people are coming to take away everything you take for granted because they hate you", rather than seeing the actual reason, that we just want you to move your boot a little bit because we're stuck under it and we'd prefer to stand at your side.
No part of any plan I have or would ever support would involve ever taking away any rights from the group in power. It's not about changing who's the oppressed and who's the oppressor, it's about eliminating the entire concept of "the oppressed" as an option.
And if that involves taking away a few things that you only get because someone somewhere is abusing people to get it, then I truly do apologise, but it needs to be taken. "Rights", however, never fall into this category, unless you demand the right to cause harm to others. That one, and ONLY that one, will be denied to you.
I think there's some truth to this, but it's more like there's a handful of points you need to "hit" in order to excell in a particularly high degree and not everyone meets them. I'd like to point out that Kakashi already had a fair amount going for him before the sharingan and if you gave any other regular jonin the sharingan, they wouldn't have had the same kind of success. For the sake of argument, let's say there's five factors which are intelligence, creativity, power, resilience, and intuition(Just examples). A lot of people have a couple of these, or at least one but when you know how to apply them all together, it's like braiding loose cords into a rope. It can support more weight and take more damage without breaking. But you have to have a certain amount to meet the threshold. Kakashi started out with 3 or 4 at least while the average jonin has 2-3, enough to excel but not enough to be such a standout. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I perceive it as more of a complex interplay of a wide variety of factors where the average person with or without the power in question doesn't meet the threshold. You have to have someone already on the edge of it to be meaningfully different.
I'm actually surprised that you didn't give Sakura a spot on the list, even though she doesn't have too many feats of intelligence under her belt , she was able to create a cure for the red scorpions poison, something that granny Chiha and Tsunade hadn't been able to do yet
facts and he downplayed kakasji
that boeing/italian mafia comment... it's been a good run y'all. nick bout to get whacked
Sakura knew how to do all the chunin exams's written exam questions without cheating.
That's less a feat of intelligence and more one of how hard-working and disciplined she is, especially because it's implied that she studied a lot for it. Of course, it can't be done without a fair minimum of intelligence either so it does still count for something.
Kinda had to since she had no way of cheating.
@marzipancutter8144 but isn't that the point. Her hard work and discipline made her intelligent
@@SASMADBRUV7 Hard work only increases knowledge, not intelligence. At best you could argue it's a smart move for her to be doing the hard work, but those are rarely related either, it's usually more to do with culture and upbringing. This is an oversimplification, but intelligence makes it easier and faster to learn new things as it allows you to make connections between things you know. Knowledge makes it easier to use and show off the intelligence you have, but it doesn't increase intelligence directly.
I do think Sakura is very intelligent, but her learning for an exam simply isn't a good example of that. She has several better feats that you can use that actually do indicate intelligence.
@marzipancutter8144 I'm sorry but you absolutely can improve your intelligence with hard work. Doing activities improve your brains abilities to learn, connect and apply.
What's good obsession to make intelligence this purely natural thing that some people have and others don't
“All on his OWN”? While naming all the research and powers he stole 😂
Kabuto's feats are almost all plot armor...
For anyone in the Naruto universe to figure out Black Zetsu's plan they'd have to be a literal conspiracy theorist to even be aware of his existence/origins and then be indestructibly insane to see through the eye of the moon plan.
Goku is a genius. No one will call him intelligent.
Kabuto overcoming Tsunade's signature jutsu is low-key one of the most impressive feats in Naruto. I can't think of one person in the Naruto universe who could have functioned mere seconds after having the entire nervous system disrupted like that.
As a writer it can be so difficult writing "geniuses" because if you don't let them predict and handle almost every situation is leads to plot holes / contradictions. Worst case scenario you have a character with a higher IQ than Einstein just for a YT thumbnail to call them dumb lol
Yea, the problem with geniuses is they are ALWAYS geniuses, u write a genius guy cuz u come up with a rly cool fight with "genius" strats but after that, everytime they are in the room u meed to make them instantly understand the opponent's plan and counter it

YOU HAD ME AT BOEING, Tobirama is also my personal Goat
Orochimaru losing points for knowing who Itachi is and continuingly trying him lol
Also to remember during the Konoha Crush arc, the only reason Naruto was stronger than Gaara was a chance encounter with Jariaya where he loosened the seal on Naruto to allow him to access more chakra.
What about sasori
Bro figured out how to turn his entire body into a puppet and even his internal organs too. He built a puppet nervous system, respiratory system, and pretty much every bodily system except for his living core which I think is his heart. He also figured out to turn actual people into puppets and figured out how to let them keep their abilities as puppets. I mean that has to count for something
That's exactly what I thought after this list. Thanks

The Boeing thing really is wild. Crazy that the authorities aren't more all over it.
Emotional intelligence is also factor. Some of the most pivotal moments in the Naruto universe come from empathy and understanding. Like Naruto dealing with nagato. That was straight emotional intelligence.
empathy isnt really intelligence. its mostly wisdom.
IRL, when empathy is displayed in children to a great degree, we say they have wisdom beyond their years.
Its a combination of resonating with others experience, willingness to listen & understand, willingness to learn & grow emotionally...
Its quite different than intelligence in the general sense... though much more important IMO

For Shikamaru I feel like he was put into many no win situations yet got very few people killed. For the Sasuke retrieval they should have never been sent, yet got Naruto to the final battle against VASTLY stronger opponents. Remember how Sakumo offed himself for saving the lives of his team, the village valued success in missions more than the lives of the shinobi. For the Gaara chase he knew he couldn’t win, but knew he was the best to buy the time to have a chance. For the fight against Tamari he knew he couldn’t win, but knew winning wasn’t the point, the point was to showcase their abilities and he was not a 1-1 powerhouse. For Hidan and kakuzu he had no way of knowing their abilities, which were way too strong for team Asuma, and with prep time was able to get a few of Kakuzu’s lives. He split up the pairing and personally took out them both (one of Kakuzus lives). Not saying he was written to be the smartest, but a few key points may have been dusted over.
You ever have a really good plan… but you are not a genius because the last step didn’t work because of interference?
Calling billionaires stupid might be the hottest take in the video lol
I was certainly not expecting Orochimaru to be number 1. I knew *he* was smart, but I guess I misunderstood *him* a bit
I very much think that Danzo should've been on this list. His plans didn't always come to fruition but they were still good plans regardless. The plan at the Kage Summit wasn't even going to fail, he was just unlucky that a random shinobi from the Hidden Mist Village had a Byakugan. Plus, I think it's really overlooked how smart his whole hand of Sharingans was. If he weren't so weak, imagine how dangerous he would've been.
Also, how smart was Minato really, for making a ball of spinning nature-less chakra?
really grasping at straws for videos, but I still appreciate it XD

Can we talk about how he did NOT deserve that promotion? His claim to fame was giving up before he lost because he didn'tbother learning how to hold people for 5 minutes, compared to Naruto who fought off a diplomaticly important nuke. Then, years later, time that you would presumably spend training on fixing your flaws, he can't hold a guy long enough to cut off his head
Uh, he did cut off Hidan's head. Well his party members did but still. It's just that kakuzu could reattach it. Against anyone else that would have worked to eliminate at least one akatsuki.
@@Kobolds_in_a_trenchcoat if i notice that a guy i killed is still alive and is asking the other guy to patch him up like that's a thing he can do, I would at least try to keep the head away from him or destroy it. or failing that, try to do it again, but better. or even just bolt, they were way underequipped to deal with them, and telling my boss about two immortal terrorists seems more important than avenging some dead monk
I think it was more a matter of working with what you have. After all, they're testing to see if he could do as a Team leader, not general strength. It's true that it's a failure he never properly improved his Shadow technique, but when he leads a squad of Genin on a given mission long term improvement doesn't matter, the mission has to be fulfilled with the manpower available. And it's not like they expected him to continue slacking off with his training afterwards, which he frankly really shouldn't have done.
Also Naruto is himself the diplomatically important nuke. Fighting off the other diplomatically important nukes is literally his job and reason for existing. It's also not something that necessarily makes him suited to lead a team, rather it actively endangers them.
We need a couples that could've been video! ❤👫
We got shikamaru hate from nick before gta6
The beard is fully back already?? dang that was quick
When you really think about it Shikamaru having a 200 iq, and Naruto being dumb doesn't really make sense in the ninja world. Take the average shinobi from Naruto's world and put them in a regular school and they should be the smartest person in the entire school district.

I think the problem is with shikamaru we actually have to see how he achieves these things. But when we hear of what danzo did or what Kakashi did they happen off screen. If we just heard shikamuru figured out a way to kill an immortal opponent through strategy it sounds way more impressive.
Nice !!!

I like that you clarified that intelligence is subjective and that most of the “genius’s” are just talented.
You definitely took my comment from the last genius video you posted to heart. Great stuff homie!
Start answering important manga/anime question such as “infinite Void” vs “infinite tsukoyomi”, demon hunter hashira vs JJK curses - demon hunter demons vs jujutsu sorcerers, what year is hunter hunter going to continue/finish
I would take points off orochimaru learning immortality, since everything he did he needed to kill multiple people and failed multiple times, if a scientist needs many lives and many tries it would mean he is a bad scientist, since other characters like sasori figured it out on their own, he abused too much of stealing people dna and just go trying until someone is compatible without tests and safety measures, which is brute force not intelligence, still should be really high up there though
Love it dude but I have to yank my head phones off what you mention boruto because I have not yet finished the series 😂💪

Was...making the Uchiha police a good idea? Didn't it just increase political tensions and nearly cause a civil war?
For real, Kabuto learning how the pathway derangement technique works in like 30sec is crazy. Like he and to run through all his limbs & muscles in a matter of seconds, but he also had to remember exactly what effects were associated with each one of those. That's is an amazing memory.
There are 13 major muscle groups that consists of 600 individual muscles. That means Kabuto ran through 600 muscles, clocked & remember how each one was altered, and continued to fight on the level of a sannin. That's crazy to function in a fight & stay focused while simultaneously running through all your altered muscles mid battle.
Imagine if Shikamaru was half Uchiha.
Wouldn't he have less of an excuse to be lazy if he was half Uchiha? Even with one Sharingan, he'd be encouraged to go out and copy new Justus.
He'd be worse. he has no chakra as it is. Adding Sharingan to that he would fold faster.
@@morphkaian being an Uchiha, the sharingan wouldn't use as much chakra for him as for other people. he would also probably have more chakra than he currently does
