Hand Forged Tomahawk out of Railroad Track / Minimal Tools

- I forged the tomahawk out of railroad track. It took me more time than I would like to admit. I used more less basic tools including hacksaw, files and emery cloth. The only exception is angle grinder. I didn't test the tomahawk at the end of video, because it was made as a handmade Christmas gift. Therefore I want like to avoid any dents or scratches. The head is quenched and etched in ferric chloride. The handle is chared ash. Feathers are from pheasant.

production value is extremely high, where is the youtube algorithm ?
Thank you 🙂, in TH-cam defense, I didn't upload new content for a long time, unfortunatelly I'm flooded with work.
nice work masterpiece
Thank you, good old elbow grease! 😁
Was wondering if railroad spike is good steel for this ? Will it hold up ? I always though it didn’t have much carbon in it etc etc
👍👍🤝🤝
That's a beautiful piece. Just wonderikg what is the point of the hole on the hammer end of the hawk? Is it for weight reduction or just design?
Thank you! :) It's meant to be used as a pipe, so just the design.
How long is the handle from tip to top and how long from pipe to axe blade? Thank you. Hope you still answer. Love your work 🖤
Sorry for the delay, but I have to contact the owner, because I no longer remember the dimensions. The answer is: lenght 590 mm and the head is 200 mm across. I remember that it took me serious amount of time to figure out the dimensions to make it look appeling. I visited many sites and studied bunch of pictures 🙂. BTW thank you for the feedback!
How did you wrap those feathers like that
Just a thread and beewax
What did you do to get your anvil so quiet?
Unfortunately it's not that quiet. The audio is distorted by running forge, so it sound quieter. I wear cordless earbuds everytime i forge.
@@JustAnotherCraftsman I typically do also
@@popsforgeblacksmithing4793 that is reasonable, tinnitus is a really bad thing
id buy that if it was for sale? :)
Unfortunately it was produced as a gift :)
@@JustAnotherCraftsman Ill take a free one as a gift :)
@@kanhdahar2I like the way you think :D. However, it has been serving its owner for over a year.
Nice video. Would prefer narration.
I plan to narrate videos in near future.
A nice piece except you make it to store bought looking leave some forge marks on it
Maybe next time :D
