    Thank you! Just received a P-17, and this video was instrumental in making the decision and in the initial cleaning and "burr" check. I add my sincerest thanks and respect to the many others herein.

    Well done. It's a superb, classic design made affordable... and is well worth even extreme mods. Probably the best deal in airgunning, ever.

    10:39 THANK YOU! I drilled a couple holes in the plastic so as to be able to mount a 6 rail picatinny and noticed that tiny hole afterwards and thought I did that without noticing! I put electrical tape over it and shot it a once and then it wouldn't fill with air after that. I started looking for a replacement piston (impossible it seems) and found this video. Took the tape off and now it's back to normal! What a relief!
    PS- I use _sewing machine oil_ for pistons. It's a great lube and is made for parts that move a lot. Works on just about anything. I do locksport and use it on old locks too.

    The most informative video detailing everything anyone would need to know, and some things one must know, to get the best out of this air pistol. A superb presentation. Many thanks.

    You don't need to remove the three fingers to change the seals! If you align one of the flat sides of the brass threaded guide properly it will clear those fingers during removal. Another tip is you do not need to disassemble the brass guide piece to change seals either. Both seals may be swapped out from the small end of this component.

      After replacing both valve stem orings is it possible the small oring at the bottom of the female half the valve is bad I still have a leak if so is that seal the same size as the valve tip seal?

    Thanks for the great video. My favorite air guns are mechanical spring single action guns like break barrels so I am glad I found out about this affordable little gun. You do a nice job maintaining it and I will do the same when I get one. I treat my other units with similar care, cleaning and lube. Working on them is a good 50% of the enjoyment for me. Cheers!

    Killed a lot of rats in the last few years, within 15ft out my kitchen window....if it lacks at all it in power it makes up for in accuracy.....99% one shot one kill....record is 12 rats in under 2 hours....and they seem to have 'moved on'....Great video..

    Excellent video….
    I’ve come up with a trick on the tricky larger o ring on the spring loaded brass valve….
    If you take the P spring out if the trigger assembly with the o ring on it and I
    Use your dental pick to expand it you can pull it down over the spring and it drops in place! Fiddly but only took me about a minute or two.
    The more you do the easier it will get👌👀🇬🇧
    I’ve named it The Dodgey Hodgey P17 Valve Fix!!!!!!!!! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

    I purchased a P-17 a year ago, December 2023 to be exact. After putting less than 100 rounds through it the pistol couldn't generate enough pressure to unseat the pellet in the breach. Pump, aim, pull the trigger, click, nothing. Open the action and the pellet just sitting there, looking back at me. I suspect one of the seals took a crap on me. Watched your video, picked up a couple of Harbor Freight "Storehouse" O-ring kits to do your rebuild. Unfortunately no one includes a A117 size O-ring in their assortments. All jump from A116 to A210. In the metric assortment they include a 3mm x 20 mm and a 4mm x 20 mm, but no 2.5 x 20 mm size. What are your thoughts?

    My safety was rusted shut, so I removed the mechanism. Now it fires whenever I cock it. Is my gun fubar'd, or is it salvageable?
    I also disassembled and reassembled the trigger mechanism. Could I have messed something up there?
    Thanks!

    Just lube it. As for the slight lip front of barrel I was told it was for spin and was not that criticall for accuracy.
    But hey maybe whatever . The tip about the bur is good. but this model is smooth as silk air intake.

    AWESOME VIDEO BROTHER ,NOW, HOW ABOUT WAYS TO MAKE MORE POWERFUL ,I WAS THINKING OF CUTTING ANOTHER ORING GROOVE FOR TWO TOTA; ORINGS AND DRILLING SOME MORE AIR INTAKE HOLES OR MAKING THE ONE THERE A LITTLE BIGGER ,WHAT YOU THINK ?

    • @TuttleScott
      @TuttleScott 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I read somewhere if you put aluminum foil tape on the end of the piston it would increase the pressure but... they only got an extra 25fps. and even more of a beech to cock

    Yep I agree with others; this gun fails, trash and buy another. Yeah yeah the cost to repair is cents I'd rather buy another, IF it even lasts that long. This video is great; convinced me to never bother trying to repair this. Not my thing. One BIG question remains though; if this was a P3, would the inner workings, parts, etc be noticeably different, and/or any better, that would justify the P3's ridiculous price? I haven't found a single video showing inner-workings differences between P3 and P17. For the price, the P17 is a no brainer but I'm super curious if the P3 is worth it or whatever "piece of mind" a German made, supposedly higher-quality gun offers. So far I've seen no evidence that supports the P3 pricing scam.

    • @banthaexplosion
      @banthaexplosion 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The internals look and function the same, the p3 is just a better fit and finish on everything inside and outside of the pistol. I have owned both through the years and IMO go with the p17 if you want to tinker and go with the p3 if you want something solid out of the box (and don't mind paying the equivalent of 5-7 p17's...) Great platform regardless.
