    • @TheNinjaLife

      @@ArunGuna As a general rule of thumb, you want the spacing to be roughly shoulder width apart. If the stud spacing is smaller than your shoulder width, then you should move to the next stud. it's better to have extra space, rather than not enough. I hope this helps and thanks for watching.

    Ok so I wanna hung up 2 punching bags in one location on garage and on other side of garage rings and climbing rope, my ceilings only 8ft high so climbing rope will be use for other exercises.
    I will be using a 2x4 or maybe 2x6 board across maybe 3 joist for punching bags. I have a strut channel which will be attach to boards 2x4 or 2x6 board. For the rings and rope they will be mounted on a rogue ring hunger which I will attach to a board too.
    I been using lag bolts to hung up stuff from ceiling, however people have been saying to use GRK RSS14312HP RSS HandyPak 1/4 by 3-1/2-Inch Structural Screws which are easier and stronger than the lag bolts and don't have to predrill??
    Will these grk be good to mout weight pegs on wall or lag bolts will be better for this?

    • @TheNinjaLife
      @TheNinjaLife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Studs are basically the frame that's behind the wall/ceiling dry wall. (usually a 2x4) Drywall is very fragile and weak, it will not hold much weight, this is why we drill into the wood behind the drywall, aka "stud"
      A stud finger will help locate exactly where these studs are behind the drywall.
      I hope this helps.

Best bet to be sure it can hold up is to find a blue print of the house and see how the ceiling is constructed. For me, it has been working and holding for the past 4 years. With almost daily use. (not sure if that will reduce the weight limit so I'd double check if you're unsure) or you can find a spot to accommodate the four holes. I bought the rope off Amazon years ago. They sell tons. We mentioned at 2:20 that some of the other sets come with anchors for concrete. In this case you'll need a concrete drill bit and a hammer to place the anchor in the drilled hole. Spacing should be about shoulder width apart, but that's totally user preference. Hope this helps

  • @MrDavidFitzgerald
    @MrDavidFitzgerald 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    This is sketchy. You used the stud finder to find the joists (not studs, by the way), but you didn't even check whether you were drilling in the centre of the joists. For all you know, you're drilling close the to the edge, which would make this much weaker.
    Also, just because these mounts can take 750lb does not mean your joists can take that kind of weight at a single point. The recommended way to do this is to attach timber or metal across multiple joists.
    I would *strongly* recommend that nobody uses a set up like this for anything that involves hanging upside down (e.g. silks) -- it's not worth a permanent injury if you land on your neck.
    I get that your wife has successfully uses them for ariel stuff, but that doesn't mean it won't fail or that it's safe long term.

    can you install it on a hallow ceiling?

    • @TheNinjaLife
      @TheNinjaLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most ceilings will have a wooden beam/stud behind it and that's what you want to drill into. Plain drywall is not strong enough to support much weight

      @@TheNinjaLife I'm renting a 2 story well built apartment. All I know is the ceiling feels like wood. Do you think it can support 154kg? Is there a way to tell where the beam/stud are? TIA

      Apartments are tricky. But there is a way to find a stud or in your case a joist in the ceiling. In the description, I have a link to a stud finder that can locate wood or metal behind the wall/ceiling. This way you can figure out where to mount the xmounts.

    I don't understand why you mount them so close together.

      You for sure want to ensure there is a strong structure to drill these into. Not sure how a mobile home is constructed, so be sure to double check before installing. Good luck

    Those mounts are not official TRX Xmounts. The TRX Xmounts have better craftsmanship.

    • @TheNinjaLife
      @TheNinjaLife  6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Keith W I agree. the official TRX Xmounts have great craftsmanship. These were the budget friendly version and ended up working really well. Sacrificed some cosmetics for about half the price.

    And if it causes your ceiling to come down on you....who do you blame , the creator of the hooks or the construction workers who built the house??
