    It’s a good idea to note that MOST residential ceilings are not safe to rig from. Generally wood framed houses are not strong enough for the forces generated when doing aerial. The professional mentioned in the video is a structural engineer, which can be very expensive.
    The solution for most people is to buy a portable rig that is low enough to fit indoors.

      Helpful comment :) Wood frames houses are a no-go but what kind are suitable for aerials rigging? I've seen quite a few people with rigging in their houses now but unsure what kind of materials are conducive to this kind of installation?

    • @snachicat
      @snachicat ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ebonygraveur8053 Honestly from what I have seen most people have no concept of the risks they are taking on. The people you are seeing are likely no exception. Always consult with an engineer before rigging from a ceiling. If you wouldn't hang a car from it, do not hang your inverted body from it. Steel and concrete may be suitable, same with the wooden construction in converted mills/lofts as the buildings were originally designed to support heavy equipment, but always always consult with an engineer, and know that you are better off just getting a free-standing rig where the forces are spread to the floor with four points of contact.

    • @ebonygraveur8053
      @ebonygraveur8053 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@snachicat Yes, I get that. I wasn't born yesterday and understand structural engineers exist for a reason. Thanks anyway for the lecture. I didn't ask "what materials are theoretically possible" because I planned to go gung ho ahead but rather because, if my house material happens to fall in the categorically unsuitable basket, I'd rather not pay the thousands of dollars to have someone tell me that.

      The point is aerial setup should be evaluated case by case. Otherwise it could be very unsafe. I find it impossible to tell how safe or how unsafe just by looking at videos or pictures. There are a lot of things to check first before installing, and testing after to see whether it can hold. Ask around to see someone who can assist you!

    Hi dear, May I know what’s the distance between the 2 hammocks on the ceiling ? TQ

  • @mackintosh7683
    @mackintosh7683 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Does the fabric have to stretch? I've been thinking about trying by there is so many small details no one seems to cover, I heard it's called silk but real silk doesn't stretch so I'm very confused on the safest fabric to use.

    • @aerialpractice
      @aerialpractice  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I understand the confusion. I had the feeling too but slowly learn from experience. I have 4 fabrics now (they are all called silks or fabric but since I used them more as hammocks so I call them hammocks more). They all have slightly different stretch but I generally stay with low stretch for the space I have and the way I use them. The only time I use a high-stretch fabric was for doing silk tricks in a very high ceiling studio, where I have space to bounce around in the air.
      In short, if you have limited space, i personally would choose low stretch as a safer choice.

      @@booish5 I have 4 small figures 8 and a big one for silks now. You can find more info in the HOME set up playlists. I am also looking to try swivel that is directly attached to the rig to give me more height, will share more then!

    • @aerialpractice

      Neither. Doesn't sound safe either way. it's concrete with expansion bolts

    • @aerialpractice
      @aerialpractice  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not necessarily. But make sure you are considering safety first and have an engineer to install it for you!

    Important!!! Don't hammer on the naked thread of the bolts. Losen the nut first till it covers the thread ends. Then hammer on the nut. If you don't do this, you might damage the thread and your nut may be stuck.

      @waterbottle This setup isn't safe, I'd strongly recommend against copying. Instead it'd be worth looking at Safety In Aerial Arts page on Facebook. Your safety and life is more valuable than cheap or insufficient rigging xx

      Yeah unfortunately the equipment shown in this video is not considered safe for aerial because of dynamic force. There are videos you can find of people talking out of their own ceiling because of rigging like this. My best recommendation would be to find a high quality portable rig rather than risk your own life and void your homeowners insurance, or risk the foundation of your home.
