You missed the game fps and resolution auto change, game break, eq your boombox, movable and addable nav bar, awesome keybaord, you can use a mic and headphones at the same time with the camera, super aggressive earpeice noise reduction, phone call synced vibrating, no animations, and uses asap launcher with moonshine

one thing I like about lg and their flagships is the amount of features, same with samsung,( I have and s9 for work) also you need to manually turn on the swipe to type, I have nad lg phones since the g3 and I always have the same set porceduce every year, I have a perfect image of what my lg and samsung flagships should look and do, for not being rooted because of lg new 2 year warranty promise, you know I am going to make a video on how to set up an lg g7 and v40 from the ground up and other mods or changes, see i the next video max, cheers

I enjoyed watching this. I've had my '40 for just about 2 years now, best phone I've ever had. I was saddened to learn that LG has discontinued producing phones. I'm in the process of buying batteries, and spare parts, so I can keep using my '40, and its predecessor, an LG G6, for the next several years. These two phones have everything I need. I'll be checking out your other videos, you showed me features here I hadn't discovered yet. Good job! 👍👍👍😏😏😏

Did you end up getting it, I also have the v20 but from what it offers, I can't see myself upgrading unless lg brings back ir blaster, removable battery, but mainly get rid of that stupid notch
@@phrocasso5906 I just don't understand why LG didn't just placed the notch on the side and used the reminding of the screen as an actual second screen. Like with the 10 and 20. That it still shows stats and the notifications there when you are using full screen videos or games. And the ability to have shortcuts there. V20 owner and I'm really pleased with the second screen and the IR blaster and replaceable battery, which has allowed me to keep the phone for this long.
I think us V Series owners are really loyal we probably Drive the same kind of car brand loyalty when said brand has served you well is common place I just get newer version when u need a new one.. No need to upgrade yet... I mean if I got the V60 I'm getting a upgrade and everything but I'm getting a downgrade in my display and that's not happening
@@phrocasso5906 yeah, I've had it for quite a while now, and I do believe that it was one of my better investments in phones. Pretty amazing for sure. Sorry that it took me 4 months to notice someone had commented

Might be snappier, but I believe the V40 can keep it's speed thru 2021/2022

I like the clock always on feature. However, I have a 3rd party app that has a better clock with more info, that I would like to use as default instead of the one they provide. Is there a way to do this? Also on the Always on app provided by LG underneath the time and date it has M; a man(??) icon; and 2 lines; what do those symbols do and what are they for?

Hey Max, Great review on advanced features and manual settings. What about call quality, I had a V20 but the call quality was nowhere near as good as my older G4....very tinny call quality in comparison, is the V40 a match for a G4 for making regular calls, important in my job as I am speaking to clients, thanks
Hello. I am making a short film with my LG V30 and my Galaxy S20 and am using manual video mode for better control. I noticed on the audio control, I see GAIN, LCF AND LMT. What setting do you recommend? I notice by default, GAIN is about -7 dB and LCF is OFF and LMT is on 0dB. Is the factory setting good for short film dialogue audio recording? Really enjoy your channel. Thank you very much.
do these lg have the shrink screen option like the v20 had. by sliding your finger across the bottom 3 control touch buttons? to make the screen smaller? and also the dual screen option?

Yes it lowers sound a bit than being naked but still works pretty good.

Great job! You speak my language on manual audio level adjustment on the camera part of the phone. As far as I'm concerned, your the first to talk camera phone audio! I stumbled upon this phone yesterday in my local Verizon store and the sales staff were so freaked out and totally sold on the upcoming s20 phones claiming this phone not anywhere near as good as the s20.
I gave Samsung headquarters a lecture from hell and canceled my order for the s20 and ordered the v40.
And out of THOUSANDS of TH-cam videos, that was mentioned was the broken record of the 108 mega pixels and 100x space zoom. NOTHING anywhere about audio.
Great pictures need great audio as BOSE says!

I noticed that if I set the res to 1080, that when I am on TH-cam I can still select 1440p .
Can't totally block the sound. I blocked the bottom firing speaker (with case on) an noticed sound emanating from the back. It sounded alright. Then I tried it without the case. It was half as loud & thin but not horrible.

coming from a motorola nexus 6, I am blown away by the phone. I'd probably be in love with any phone but i can listen to music in the shower with it nearby. its so loud! though i really do miss the stereo speakers. the finger print scanner is soooo convenient though it would be better if it was in front

How come I can not text or email a video without it downsizing the video and when I send it to the person it comes out all the store that you can't tell what it is how do I stop this cuz nobody seems to know what good is making a video with the phone if you can't send it to somebody without messing it up the only way I could send it without messing it up is through Messenger on Facebook if I text it email it it distorts it and you can't tell the video so again can someone tell me how I can send a video by text or email without it getting it distorted?????
The bootloader issue is due to the carriers not allowing it. If I had to guess why, it's because of things like getting around the tether block when you haven't paid for the service. That's money that the carriers could be making off of users. T-mobile was the last carrier that let users unlock their bootloaders (I'm not sure if they still do). Hence why the unlocked international version is the only one that officially supports bootloader unlocking.
Last two years I had a s8plus, then got a honor play,then a Samsung A50 and on Monday a v40 can't wait.

Which one better, LG V20 or LG G6. For the cameras, video recording and its DAC. Please answer me?
Had the V20. Excellent phone, would recommend it because of durability and the second screen, but the G6 is overall a better phone, however you'll have to decide on wireless charging or Quad Dac. It doesn't come with both. Cameras are on par in each other. But the G6 is slightly better for auto mode photos, although the wide angle was smaller

@@gorytedy5797 nope. The american version of the LG G6 has wireless charging and the Korean version has QuadDAC. So you would have to choose between one or the other. It does have a beautiful screen though
I also like and appreciate the way in pixel 3 xl to hide the notch. My oneplus 6 also have the same issue as lg's. Cant see my network speed because of the notch😑
Pixel is heavy and has a big ass chin... Outdated design... Ipremium asf... Flagship from LG are good... That quad Dac is miles above the competition... It ain't even close fr... It will eat other phones... Itd a sleeper..
v40 or g8x in 2020?
I love this phone. Believe it or not the battery life is a little better than my Note 9.
The locked boot loader really is a problem. I'm still on the V20, and I'm looking at other LG phones all the ones for T-Mo are unlockable for now. And root is a a hassle when possible, I like disabling or removing pretty much everything I don't use, including some google and social media bloatware.

I had a galaxy S9 and gave it to my grandma when she needed an upgrade and got this, despite the five lenses I would say there's definitely other phone for the same price with better cameras but the phone is damn good and has plenty of features and a constantly decreasing price after release date that should definitely make you consider it

I have the v20, which has a 135° wide angle camera and recently bought the v40 and it's wide camera is somewhat semi wide (only 107°) compared to it's predecessor.

Max do I have a defective phone? All my low lighting shots suck. Daytime shots are awesome but any low light parties (etc...) are really bad. My Galaxy S9 are super bright but it seems worse than my old V30. Does anyone have a similar problem?

European international yes. But double check model number and LG has not updated with the official model yet.

Which phone is best for professional videos LG v20 or v40 ?
I have both and I would say the V40. The cameras are better as well as the audio. The only thing it lacks that the V20 has is the ability to control the mic direction (increase sensitivity from behind the phone or in front of it).
One more thing. Most people who watch max are techies or tech interested. Recommend him to people that don't know anything about tech. He'll get views, subscribers, etc., while you're friends will learn something new and we can break this Samsung/iPhone monotony.
What I like is that the V40 photo's supports 16:9 4k displays. P20 pro for instance makes 10MP 4:3 pics which is about 3500 pixels wide and too small for 3840x2160. Heck, p20 pro doesnt even support 16:9. V40 has 12MP main and tele and 16MP wide. And a rocking f1.5 main lens. With gcam that thing beats everyone.

I'd like to point out the fact that the screen is drop and damage resistant by using Corning® Gorilla® Glass 5 on both the front and back of the device. This a BIG feature, too huge to just skip over. Thanks for the video.

Root took forever to crack on the LG v20 and v30. But there's a v35 beta phone with a unlocked bootloader on ebay. I just didn't the money to buy it. If i get a hold of that bootloader unlocked v35, then i can use it to unlock any LG SD 845 phone. But my question is with the v40. Does it throttle the GPU and CPU like in all there other phones. I hate that they set such a low thermal temp. With root we can change the thermal.conf.file and change the thermal ceiling temps. If the lerformance is there and there's no hitching or micro stutter im sold. But if not. I guess i could just deal with it. I've used LG since the first quad core optimus days. and have to have that audio. If i had 100 plus phones i probably wouldn't care so much about one phone either. The one+ 7 pro really caught my eye but' no 3.5mm or SD expansion.
