Invicta is a great option if you want to wear 47 mm watches. Having big hands and forearms makes 40 and 42 mm watches look like kids watches on my arm. Invicta has a nice selection of large face watches.

Man, I agree with you! My late uncle was 6’-6” tall, weighed about 300lbs. and had HUGE hands, wrists, and forearms (he played high school, college and NFL football for the Cowboys as a linebacker. These big watches would have suited him well to match his proportions! He did own a Rolex watch because he could afford it but I definitely get what your saying here!

I don't love Invicta, but I do have a 42mm auto pro diver, 30091, that I paid 55 bucks for and it's the absolute goldilocks watch for me. Not too big, not too small, not too expensive, looks great on a nato, low profile, Seiko nh35a movement... Great watch.

Mr. Goodman, I think it's really important when discussing fashion accessories like watches you have to have an all encompassing analysis. Price (what you are spending) and value (features and benefits) is a huge part of that in ANY watch discussion. At no time do you mention what this watch costs while you are running it down...For the record, Amazon currently sells this model for $99. Invicta's most expensive watch is currently about $8,000 and their cheapest watch is currently about $29. That's a huge swing. Many consumer brands miss out on customers and sales because their products are too narrow in their focus. Invicta is the rare brand that is trying to be all things to all people and is likely missing customers and sales because their product line is simply far to vast in styles, feature and benefits and yes...pricing. I own 3 Invictas. They were all bought in the last year and vary from about $125 to $200. For what I spend for these watches (which is an important part of my buying decisions), I can't think of another brand that gives me this much value. I can't think of a brand at those prices that can sell me watch that looks as good as my 3 Invictas. (And for the record, I agree that ANY watch...Invicta or otherwise, that is 45+mm is undesirable.) Now, can my Pro Diver compare to a Rolex Submariner? No, you proved that for us previously. Can my Speedway compare to an Omega Speedmaster? Again...no. Can my Lupah compare to a Hamilton? Once again...no. In closing, Mr. Goodman you don't care for Invicta. No sweat...more for me. So, I would ask you to tell me and your audience, please...if I only have $200 to spend on a watch, which watch should I choose instead of an Invicta? I think the sample featured here sent to you by a viewer is not the best Invicta example...

Invicta has something for almost everyone in my opinion. I personally don’t like the majority of their watches. I only like the automatic versions of some of the simpler and smaller sized pro divers. Also, I like the simpler looking automatic Grand Divers as well. Gotta have that NH35.🤤

I started with a classically-styled Invicta Pro Diver automatic, and I still love the brand. I've since focused more on Seiko, Citizen and Orient, but Invicta's economies of scale allow them to offer a lot of value. You'd be hard pressed to find a halfway decent meteorite dial with NH35a (no sapphire, alas) for $150 elsewhere. And I must admit I'm a sucker for their licensed property watches, such as a Mandalorian/Baby Yoda quartz chronograph and various Marvel and DC Comics character watches. No, I won't ever wear a 58mm with chains or cables around the bezel, but hey, they're making bank off of that sort of thing, so more power to them.

My beater work watch is an invicta prodiver and I have zero regrets. Screw down crown and solid dust resistance? Check. Stainless steel build? Check. Easy to replace? Check decent timing bezel? Check. Perfect for using when you are working outdoors if you want an automatic analog beater watch.

I'm a big guy and I like a big watch. I have some expensive gear (Tags are my favorite) but for the money, you can't beat Invicta. Sure, their marketing is bogus and some of their watches are ridiculous. But they also have nice pieces that are not knock-offs, look great, and keep time perfectly. That's more than I can say for my Dad's Rolex. That watch cost 5 digits and it spends more time in the shop than it does on his wrist. Hell, one of my Tags has been to the shop twice for the same issue in 3 years. None of my Invictas have had problems.

It’s called capitalism, my friend. Rolex & Seiko are the greatest watch companies because neither puts profits ahead of employees or customers. Rolex/Tudor is a non-profit so it doesn’t need to watch stock prices at all.
Seiko, like most Japanese companies, puts employees first, suppliers second & customers third. Only a company like this could build the Spring Drive.
Invicta is only a venerable name with lots of good will. They new owners view good will as a depreciable asset that they will be exhaust for maximum profit.

  • @andrewe.8321
    @andrewe.8321 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Invicta has some god awful designs. That said, the Pro Diver line offers something kind of cool. It’s a watch that closely resembles an item that costs over 10 thousand USD, and all for around 50 bucks. Seiko NH is a solid movement and you aren’t buying some fake Rolex. Granted, a nice Seiko, Citizen, or Orient is always preferred (by me at least), but even those brands charge 3-4x what Invicta is asking for a Pro Diver. My Pro Diver is my vacation watch. It can get slathered in sunscreen, covered in sand, and shake around on a jet ski. For 50 dollars, I do not mind. There’s a sense of security that comes with a cheap watch.

I've stated this before. Invicta has a lot of misses but they do have some very nice value pieces for those of us with budget constraints.
The Grand Diver is a very nice looking piece supported by a nice Seiko movement which is shared with Vostok, Seiko, and Spinnaker.
I get compliments on mine from time to time and I humbly point out it is an Invicta. The only thing that urks me is the garrish "Grand Diver" etched on the case.

This model actually started out as the 25075 which uses the same case etc. and is visually almost identical, but DOES have 500mt water resistance and screw down crown AND pushers. You can still buy the 25075. This model is a pared down version for those who want the look but aren't necessarily bothered about the specs. So that's why it's built like a tank - because the OG variant is one. You should probably do a bit more research before you start spouting crap all over the internet. Hattori/TMI Seiko makes the movement and it's used in tons of entry-level watches where the consumer base cares more for a central seconds hand than a central chrono hand. Are you going to trash talk Seiko too? There's absolutely nothing wrong with that - there is no magical rule of horology that says you can't have central seconds and small chrono seconds - you sound like the worst kind of watch snob suggesting otherwise. But then you do make that final comment about getting paid either way.. so yeah, that pretty much sums you up, doesn't it?

Why do you think it's on sale for that much off then? It's either no one is buying it or it's their stupid marketing skeem to way over priced the watch just to show it as a "sale". Think of it from a business perspective. If you own the company, why would you sell your products at 9 times the price and then discount it? They're not just being nice about it. They're there to make money. So end of the day, you bought a $60 watch. Nothing wrong with that at all, but I don't support a company that tries to trick customers into believing they're getting an incredible deal.

They do make these in a 200m, 300m and 500m depth rating. I remember reading online some like to see the larger Seconds hand moving more. So instead of having the chronograph running at all times it's easier to use these types of movements because let's be honest how often do you use a chronograph or better yet how many people actually use it? Your still timing things just not with the bigger seconds hand.

No one is never wrong. Pitting a $5k Rolex against a $90 Invicta is like comparing a bicycle to a Bugatti Chiron. That's a 56 to 1 price ratio, and I'm being conservative with the price of the Rolex. In case it isn't obvious to you, Invicta watches are marketed more like fashion accessories than purpose built speciality time pieces. Their designs appeal to a completely different demographic than people whose lives may depend on their watches being fit for their purpose. I have Rolex, Omega, Tag, Panerai and other watches in that price range in my collection. Other than my Sea Dweller and Aquaracer. The rest are mediocre at best as far as accuracy and durability is concerned. Bell&Ross is absolute trash, overpriced overrated and the two I bought got deep-sixed in less than 5 years . I can say this because I have used my watches in the course of my work which includes diving in marine environments. I'll take the $90 Invicta Subaqua over a Bell&Ross or Hublot on the job any day of the week. By way of comparison, I have over a dozen Invictas collected over last 15 years and I have only had to repair one. I happen to like Invicta watches and I think you get a lot of watch for the money. But in the end, that's just my opinion. And you are rightfully free to express yours. However, I would REALLY like to see you do a comparison between your Rolex Submariner and a Richard Mille RM 025.

Totally fair review. Jory actually hit it on the head: it's all about the styling. The functionality of a given movement is generally less important to Invicta customers than the looks of the watch overall. And I'm saying this as a huge Invicta fan. I've sold several of my used Invictas where there was something wrong with a subdial or a chronograph function, but the buyers haven't cared. They were just looking for those particular models for their looks or case finish or theming.

Invicta does make some reasonably sized watches. I own a 37.5mm, PC32A quartz, 200m Sub homage, with a beautiful orange sunburst dial (ref. 10665). It cost me all of $40, NIB off eBay. They also produce a 39.5mm, Daytona homage in numerous colorways, called the Speedway. The Speedways were better when Invicta used Miyota movements across their product line, because the Miyota quartz chronographs had the stopwatch function run on the central hand. The newer Seiko VD5x calibers run all the chrono functions on the sub-dials, making the tachymeter bevel useless.
My other Invicta is a chronograph from the Specialty series (ref. 10302). It has a proper Swiss, quartz chronograph movement (Cal. 5030.D), made by Ronda. This was my first ever on-line watch purchase, and I didn't even realize watches came in 48mm cases, with 24mm bracelets. It's a really attractive watch, but a little big and heavy to wear every day.
Ten or fifteen years ago, Invicta was the king of bang for your buck, in affordable watches. They offered way more in specifications than the Seiko 5 or Orient Tri-Star. Back then, if you wanted a Seiko 4R3x diver with 200m WR, it would run over $300 and an Invicta 8926 was $75. Now Invicta has been surpassed by many Chinese watch brands, sold on AliExpress, eBay, and Amazon.

15 years ago, with Invicta being the company they were then, I'd be in total agreement with you. But, sadly, the general design direction of Invicta watches is horrible presently. Yes, there are a few (and I mean a few) outliers in the collection. But, generally, they now make clownish oversized watches with the cheapest movements possible and borderline quality components. The days of the COSC Speedway, or Swiss ETA 7750 Lupahs is long gone. It is not the same Invicta by a long shot. At one point, I owned like 15 of their Swiss-made autos. What a shame they went in the direction they did. But, maybe it just makes them more money.

I bought every color and version they had! They were powered by Citizen Miyota automatic movements.. some had Swiss ETA with solid end links, later, they switched to Seiko movements. Funny fact, the only ones of those that still run, perfectly I might ad, are the Japanese powered ones. Anyway, they were great watches for cheap!! All 316L steel.. They were awesome! They had to go destroy their brand with the whole giant mountain watches.. it was sad!

He could have least sent you an Invicta Reserve. I wouldn't waste time reviewing an Invicta unless it's Swiss made or at least Swiss parts. A lot of their watches are gaudy for sure but people like having them maybe more because they look better in the display case than they do on a wrist.

People have no idea how right is Mr. Lalo on this issue. it would be fantastic if Some Automatic chronometers had the main second hand function as a large sweeping seconds hand. only lovers of that great seconds hands which feel repelled by it's absence on chronometers, are sticking to 3 hands movement based watches. however theory and idea are good, the final product in this case is rather immature. i do find the Automatic Invicta watches to be of great value for money, specially when compared to the offerings in the NH35 seiko movement segment. Mr Lalo surely sees the financial bottom line better than anyone and if he believes and sees a need for such tweaked movement and if this can be translated to sales (and as i mentioned i would surely buy a chronograph with automatic movement which switches between the large seconds and the sub dials. however the implication must be smart and also functional, which is doable i guess).
as for monstrosities... i have a large wrist. a Seiko Monster or a Samurai just feel Small on me, my SARB Alpinist feels like a tiny dress watch. my old Tissot watches are from times in which i still liked quartz swiss watches. they look sport-dressy and not impressive. a Breitling Superocean 44 is the smallest i would go. but then if i spend such amounts i would like a watch which would compliment my wrist dimensions. my shoe size is 13/14, does it mean to be respected and dressy i should cut my toes and wear smaller shoes. i think "The Time Teller" is a crap talker, and his reviews are highly subjective. i find his Rolex submariner repelling, and not worth it's value in money. comparing a Pro diver to a Submariner even for the joke is bad taste, just as his plain regular status symbol look faint and dim compared to my vintage Fabre Leuba. it's nice making reviews on watches which you don't own, and talk sh** about brands which you don't really own and wear for periods of time to brag about knowledge and understanding of Horology. i found his review, useless, pointless, snobbish and in general a waste of time. since the watch he chose to review to begin with was not worth the time for a review, and for a guy who can afford a submarines i would expect to spend the 50-75$ and buy his own Quartz invicta for a mock review.

I doubt very seriously most people who use invicta watch’s dive to 300 meters , this guy and you are both a bit to judgmental . The Japanese movement is not the only watch invita makes. MOST of my invicta are Swiss made or with Swiss quartz movements. The Ronda movement they use is outstanding. The Swiss automatics they make with a sw200 movement are as good as any watch in the world even Rolex at a fraction of the price. Around 500 dollars for a Swiss made invicta with automatic movement. The Japanese movements are good also. Stay away from anything they make out of China. Invicta is a highly underrated watch company especially by watch snobs. Many people still collect Invicta because of their variety is styles and designs , it’s easier to collect many watches and fun to do especially when they are not priced at 10000 each. I can point to many factors that make invicta a better watch than a Rolex or higher end models. Another thing it does is it gets young people into watch collecting hobbies. It may not seem like much but this is what supports the over priced values of many watch companies as it gets people into watch collecting then they move up their collections to what they like selling more watches making our hobby more fun and interesting. Cheers
