This is from 1982 and the outfits and hair are so mid 80's. Ahead of their time. Lots of memories. Music was just fun with bands like these. No hard core messages. Just ready to sing about being happy for the weekend. LOL
I think you are giving them too much credit. Their head bands and outfits are straight out of a 1982 mall rocker clothing store. Even Paul Stanley of Kiss was rocking a head band with his full make-up in 81-82.
Dick Clark was really nice. I met him on a show I did for his production company. And seeing this video how nice he was to Loverboy and they were so nice to him too!! Giving him their records as a gift. They seem like nice guys too.
I saw them in the early 80's on New Year's Eve at the Forum in LA. It was Joan Jett, Bryan Adams and Loverboy on the same bill. Best New Year's Eve ever. Loverboy was on stage for the countdown. They were singing "When it's Over" at the stroke of midnight. I will never forget it. Such a great show by all three but Loverboy was and always will be my favorite band.
i know im asking the wrong place but does anybody know a trick to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot my login password. I would love any tricks you can offer me
@Shane Connor I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im in the hacking process now. I see it takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Saw their very first performance was in my hometown cabaret, The Answer. November 29 1979...Before anyone knew who they were... I guess our city "Got Lucky". 😉
tryithere It was really an odd thing to say. There wasn't any reason for Dick to say that. I'm not inferring any thing other than the randomness of his statement.
He was joking because Scott didn't know the name of the Juno Awards ~ he was inferring that he would get killed by his fellow Canadians at home for not knowing the name of Canada's version of the Grammy's!
I’ve seen loverboy two to three times. One time I saw them with survivor and Eddie money in Atlantic City. Mike had problems with the feedback from the microphone a few times and guess he got mad and walked off the stage and felt like we as fans got screwed. I was surprised to see how heavy he had gotten since the 80s. Guess some just either party too much or just let themselves go.
I've heard that when these guys did a tour through Canada in 1985, Bryan Adams was the opening act. Seems kind of strange when you think about it today, doesn't it?
bluebear1985 I don't think they toured together in 1985. I saw them at the Moncton Coliseum around 1982 and Bryan Adams was the opening act. But keep in mind, Cuts Like A Knife didn't happen yet. I think Bryan Adams only had about 3 small hits at that point: Lonely Nights, Coming Home, and I think the hit at the time was Fits Ya Good. Moncton is in New Brunswick, Canada. Loverboy's first song that they played was Jump
It was probably 1981/1982, I remember friends going. Both bands had Bruce Allen as their manager and who said something at the time that Loverboy is his meal ticket and Bryan is his retirement fund
Loverboy music was truly amazing . In my opinion one of the best rock bands ever
Amazing they still have all the original members after all these years.
Actually, unfortunately, bassist Scott Smith was killed in a boating accident in 2000. Ken "Spider" Sinnaeve replaced him.
LOVERBOY IS A GREAT 80S BAND AND THEY ARE STILL ROCKING 😎👍🇺🇲
Missing the early 80s - seemed a happier time to me
You couldn't turn on the radio without hearing Loverboy in the early 80s,they were bigger than Rush if you can believe it
Hit single/radio airplay-wise, yes... But Loverboy never sold as many albums as Rush.
Absolutely one of the best bands of the 80s! Even of all time. Hit after hit.
I would still go see these guys pay in concert!
Canadian, American, who cares? It’s a great band with great music.

Yes Dick Clark cared, and so did they. That was really cool. Appreciation for what he had done for them.

Loverboy so awesome
I will never 4get the feeling band gives me 💜🌸💜
Wow, talking about ZZ Top BEFORE Eliminator dropped is pretty damn cool!
Their video for Hot Girls In Love kind of reminds me of ZZTop mid1980s videos
I miss old Dick Clark! I have the red beard interview of Loverboy it's insane!

Would like to have been there......sounds like a great show
Joan Jett and Loverboy October 1983 at Notre Dame

@Vincent Miller instablaster :)

Interviewing greatness
DC was so warm and thoughtful as the interviewer. He included everyone in the band.
I tell you they are amazing 🎸🎤
Saw their very first performance was in my hometown cabaret, The Answer. November 29 1979...Before anyone knew who they were... I guess our city "Got Lucky". 😉
I will admit▪ I Have seen Loverboy twice!!▪ Still relevant
Kind of odd that he would pick out Scott Smith and say you could get killed. RIP Scott.
tryithere It was really an odd thing to say. There wasn't any reason for Dick to say that. I'm not inferring any thing other than the randomness of his statement.
+tryithere -Odd? Hate to be the one to break it to you........we are all 'gonna get killed' by something........... ;)
He was joking because Scott didn't know the name of the Juno Awards ~ he was inferring that he would get killed by his fellow Canadians at home for not knowing the name of Canada's version of the Grammy's!
Yeah, I really couldn't have figured that one out.
My comment was meant for hombre1968 who said there wasn't any reason for Dick to say that.
Just saw them last month here in Alaska, awesome show, still sounds good

At the end of the video. Dick Clark says to (Drummer) Matt Frenette... "Michael get up there & we're gonna put you back to work..." Iteresting.
Wow! I didn't know Don Imus was in the band.
Which one,, they all had Don Imus hair
I knew he looked like someone but couldn't place it, yes..
Mike Reno has the perfect 80’s mall outfit straight from Judy’s hidden men section.
The head band is very 1982.
I always wonder when people get gifts like that if they are actually happy receiving them or if they are forgotten about 5 minutes later.
DC says "This guy could get killed" with his hand on Scott Smith. And later Scott Smith was killed in a boating accident. So very ironic. 😟
I knew Scott most of my life up until he joined the band and never knew he even played guitar?
You didnt know him
Spooky how he said "he could get killed, badly hurt"
Sometimes he spews out some crap?! Wow!
Why would he even say that, or what would compel him to, weird that the dude ends up dying later too……😱👎😓
Hard to believe Chef Bobby Flay was the keyboard player.
For real I have never heard that!
Mike reno gran cantante
I found it funny when the band was asked how they were being accepted in Canada when the whole band is from Canada.
0:38...the Clark curse that came to fruition.

Your spot on Greg, good memory, seen them both also in 1982 ,
Loverboy was also huge and had just as many hits as Adams if not more.
I read somewhere recently that The Kid is Hot was referring to Brian Adams. No clue if that is true or not.
It was probably 1981/1982, I remember friends going.
Both bands had Bruce Allen as their manager and who said something at the time that Loverboy is his meal ticket and Bryan is his retirement fund
Was Dick Clark psychic?
Come sail away, come sail away with meeeeeee!
That headband....
Mike Reno’s expression when he tells DC: “I’ve got one for you, too. I’ll give it to you after the show.” Homoerotic much?
REBUILD HISTORIC "LESTUDIO" CANADA YEH!!!!!!!!!!EH!
I never heard of them. Is it any truth to Chef Bobby Flay being the keyboard player at that time.?
😆
Rad
Dick Clark predicted his death?
0:38 Uh, he did get killed
My thoughts goes out to Bryn Adams.
why?
Dick Clark was a humble and genuine dude. Sure miss those days and Casey Kasem's , American top 40. God, I miss those days
