I'm paralyzed in my arm and leg and was told I'd never ride again. My therapist told me I needed to set realistic goals. I can tell you that 1st time riding again was one of the scariest things I've done. I only went a mile then turned around and came home but I was shaking so bad I couldn't stand up. It takes a mindset of this sucks but I'm not gonna let it stop me

As a veteran myself, living your best life is way better than a thank you could ever be. At the same time, I can say for sure though that as a veteran it really helps you to appreciate those who *really* deserve thanks. People your and my grandpa who gave things that, frankly, we can't even properly understand. And people that gave more. That gave it all for you and me. You don't have to appreciate it, that's what freedom is and that's fine, but it's nice to know that people do.

I just got my first Harley. Love it! But I bring it up to mention that one of the things I love about HD is the sense of community. My local dealership isn’t quite as big as Bert’s, but they still do a lot. Was just there yesterday for a customer appreciation thing where they had free beer and live music. It’s become just a fun place to hang out.

As a motorcycle accident survivor, I can relate to Crash. My leg was very close to being amputated. They couldn't even find all the bone to put together. Took me a few years to get back in the saddle but back I am. Thanks for the vid!

My father was on a PT boat during WW2. My stepfather fought and was wounded in the Solomon Islands. My father died before I was old enough to know him. My stepfather would only very rarely talk about the war. When he did he would wake up in the middle of the night screaming. When I got back from the service I understood him a little bit better and appreciated him a whole lot more.

Dad never talked about his 34 missions in the Air Corps., until I came home from my first Iraq tour. We would take our cigars for a walk, and he would unload his repressed war time experiences.
Needless to say, my Hero Father had some massive brass balls.

Gotta give big props to our veterans. My Dad was a Korean war Marine vet. Later in life he was also in the Army reserve. He taught me how to ride a motorcycle when i was 16. Also gave me my first bike. I also have older brothers that are vets. One retired a Lieutenant Colonel from the army. He was in everything from Panama to Iraq and Afghanistan. My next oldest brother was an Army Ranger. My Grandpa was in the Navy in WW2.

Snowing out my window while I watched this. I had to go out to the garage and just say hi to the motorcycles. That's about all I can do right now. There is supposed to be a Toy run this Saturday but weather forecast is for 26 degrees and light snow so it may not happen. Most of the time I would not trade where I live for where you do but right now that looks so nice! Stay safe and enjoy it!

Any time you're messing with exhaust, clean it off with brake cleaner or Windex so that you don't bake the fingerprints permanently into the chrome. Man you talking about the military gets to me.. I would've given anything to be able to enlist, unfortunately my back took that from being an option for me over ten years before I figured out that I'm autistic which in itself makes it to where I can't even be drafted. I grew up an Air Force brat to a MSgt that was the son of a WW2-Korea US Army vet that went from being a motorcycle mechanic that lied about his age to enlist in 1940 at 16 to getting an accounting degree after the war and becoming a Lt. to getting a Bronze Star during the Battle of the Bowling Alley outside of Pusan in '51 for taking care of all the finances/supply for the entire battalion so other officers could fight, to then working his way up to Captain in control of a M39 Armored Utility Vehicle with a pair of 30 cal Brownings as it's only armament, to getting kicked back do to Sgt after the war and shipped off to Alaska to learn to fight the Russians before retiring in 1960 and heading off to be an accountant for the Navy in SoCal until 78. My mom's dad was Navy during Korea, a fireman/diesel mechanic on a fire patrol boat until he wrapped his 50 Ford around a black walnut tree outside of Stockton in 52 when he fell asleep at the wheel heading back from shore leave and my grandma told him (after 18 months in a coma/traction) that if he didn't get out of the Navy she wouldn't marry him and he better hurry up because she had other suitors.. Great Uncle Chet, Great Uncle Jimmy, Great Uncle Dwight were Army Air Corps/Air Force right at the switch, Great Uncle Terry was drafted into the Army in Vietnam as a medic in a forward operating station when he'd faint at the sight of blood going in, and had to palpate a couple hearts to keep the guys alive.. Hell a great great great uncle was a musician for the Minnesota Militia in the Revolutionary War.. LONG history of service in my family.. and my great great grandpa Frederick Wilhelm Ruff was in the Imperial Russian Army in Ukraine, supposedly an officer in the cavalry in 1880-1895ish, this is the first generation that none of us cousins have served. If you're curious my dad started off on the Titan II ICBM program in Kansas and then moved over to doing the electronics on the SR71 and U2 for 22 years. They went from Kansas to where I was born in Mississippi, to Beale AFB California, to Andersen AFB Guam right as the SR was retired in 90-92 to Keesler AFB/Biloxi MS once again after my dad hit Tech Sgt then back out to Beale in 95 where he somehow stayed to finish off his career, well considering the U2 is only ever in Korea, England and Beale on a regular basis and every U2 now holds the BB on it's tail for Beale being it's home base, go figure he stayed here other than for temporary assignment (TDY). Personally, I wanted to become US Army like my grandfather, I don't swim well enough and am too tall to be in the Navy, plus only having a GED the Army was literally the only option, now they don't even accept a GED. But I wanted to be 2nd Infantry like my grandfather either as a welder/engineer or as a Sapper.. When I found out that you can get paid to blow shit up everyday.... OMFG! Besides, much like Provo's Privy the combination of their mottos sings.. "Second to none Sappers lead the way!" Which you do, with mine detector in hand at the front of the column. I'd also want to go to sniper school because I like having my shot actually count when I squeeze the trigger.. In my mind if you're gonna shoot, make sure there's no way they can get back up.. saves lives that way. It kills me, the first 16 years of my life I spent so much time on base and often even in the shop with my dad and his guys.. the military is more a part of who I am than it is him because he was an adult when he was indoctrinated, his dad was already out before he was born.. but I grew up with that as home, and it's still home now.. and despite living 9 miles from the base, I can't just go out there whenever I want.. So close but I haven't been able to go home in 16 years ever since I lost my privellages when I became an adult and wasn't in school. It hurts not to be able to go home again... and despite being so close, it's surprisingly rare to meet any women that are military.
So onto more fucked up things... have you ever noticed that under the speedo on that chopper it looks like a woman with a pierced clit? (Now you won't be able to NOT see it.. You're welcome!)
That bike definitely makes me wish there was a way I could get back into painting, doing custom stuff. I've got a panel on my wall in my room that I painted in college and I love doing that shit, that and welding is the only things I've ever done that I felt like I was doing what I was meant to. Just because I can't work in someone else's shop (nobody will put up with IBS bathroom trips) doing the daily grind of insurance repairs doesn't mean that I shouldn't be able to paint and make some cool looking bikes and cars.. Unfortunately, there's NO ONE around here that does that stuff and it's a metric asston of money to set up a paint booth and pay all the CARB and EPA fees and everything to offset the emissions and fuck waterborne paint. I need to get some striping brushes and teach myself how to do it.. if only I could afford the paint and whatnot and a bunch of Christmas ornaments to paint and sell.. maybe I could make enough to at least get an air compressor and decent body tools and paint rack and a PVC/tarp redneck booth and do some marketplace/craigslist primer jobs for people until I could afford rent or something. I can't though.
Say it right JOSH! It's not a Winnebago.. it's a WANNABANGO!

Nothing at all to be ashamed of despite some vets knack for shaming those who don’t serve. It’s just misguided loyalty. No shame whatsoever. And you’re the first one who understands having a good time is appreciating the gift of the dead.

Man, was just getting my fix in 30degrees and dodging the snow & ice .. stop crying ffs 😂. I did leave one out in the snow, undercover, just for the days the suns out and roads are clear enough.
N MN and -40 degree days decreases the riding days.

*dramatic music playing* Chaotic Good Eternal! Wizard of the wet Wastes! I envision a Performance steed glittering in chrome and flake, 2 into 1's With fishtail tips, T bars and Chromed out wheels, a softail evolved into a new creation with tall suspension and classy style the likes of which yet have not been seen! a Hybrid of speed, handling, sex appeal, and heritage. Galloping fast and hard through the mountains and the valleys from the twisty hills to the swampy back roads, A steed with the will to not be denied! Thus is the vision of the BigSexy Wizard of Tejas! Godspeed great traveler, safe ride and successful journeys. *explosions of Lightning, fire, and smoke*
